GOP: Lerner warned IRS employees to hide information...[W:220, 325]

Re: GOP: Lerner warned IRS employees to hide information from Congress

This whole time, it was known that she did the exact same thing to the Christian Coalition during the Clinton years while working for the FEC.

I think we have to know at this point who suggested that she go into this position, and if it at all, was tied to advisers of the current administration...

The senators, and other congresspeople that were involved as well, including Cummings show the absolute corruption in DC today.

I'm less worried about tracking this up the chain of Winks and Nudges and more interested in throwing the absolute complete and total book at anyone who can be demonstrated to be actually guilty of abusing the powers of government for ideological ends. I've said that about Republicans and Democrats both - when you criminally abuse the powers of government in service of your own political bent, you reduce faith in self-government by destroying the necessary assumptions of our system. You are at that point a threat to the United States of America and should be dealt with accordingly. Maximum Possible Sentences Without Possibility of Parole.

Re: GOP: Lerner warned IRS employees to hide information from Congress

Yes, that it is two wrongs, which you appear to think is right. Democrats doing wrong, Republican doing wrong for revenge

This leads to the right: disarmement.

It does not make a right. But yes, it can lead to one.

Mostly, it's just angry. :)

Totally agree Will, and would only add that I wish this would spark a real destruction of our current tax system into a flat tax and just abolish this SS like institution.

Re: GOP: Lerner warned IRS employees to hide information from Congress

You are not even aware of it? You better keep up, this happened over a year ago!
Oh, look up "Benghazi", "NLRB unconstitutional", "I have a pen", and "58 states" while you're at it. Boy, have you missed a lot.

The Internal Revenue Service on Friday apologized for targeting groups with “tea party” or “patriot” in their names, confirming long-standing accusations by some conservatives that their applications for tax-exempt status were being improperly delayed and scrutinized.

Lois G. Lerner, the IRS official who oversees tax-exempt groups, said the “absolutely inappropriate” actions by “front-line people” were not driven by partisan motives.

IRS admits targeting conservatives for tax scrutiny in 2012 election - The Washington Post

here was your earlier post with my emphasis added:
Are we talking about the same thing here? You know Lois Lerner was the one that came out and admitted wrongdoing, right? Did you miss that part? And that she clammed up and won't say where the orders came from? You have to keep up, or you'll end up looking silly.

now where exactly in your 'proof' does lois learner admit wrongdoing?

Re: GOP: Lerner warned IRS employees to hide information from Congress

Apparently we also now have communications that she had with IT sections about the instant messaging system they used, where she was making sure that nothing she said on their IM system could be saved or retrieved.

And 'Not one smidgeon of corruption' going on. Eh?

Ahh, BS! A whole bunch going on, and needs to be criminally charged and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

All that's missing now is a communication from the WH directing the IRS to hassle conservative groups applying for tax exempt status to complete the picture of corruption and abuse of government power.

Re: GOP: Lerner warned IRS employees to hide information from Congress

... person who knows she faces an unprincipled but powerful adversary.

Right, that's why she said this:

Lerner, the official at the center of investigations into IRS targeting of political groups, also went so far as to ask an information technology staffer whether internal instant messages could be searched and retrieved in response to a congressional request. When the employee informed her that those messages were not automatically saved, Lerner responded with a one-word e-mail: "Perfect."

Yeah, she asked for immunity "just cuz".

Time to move on, that's been asked and answered.

Re: GOP: Lerner warned IRS employees to hide information from Congress

More "no real scandal here".... right guys?
Well MrVicchio, Media Matters shows you how dishonest the right wing press is. Here is the email:

Re: GOP: Lerner warned IRS employees to hide information from Congress

Almost certainly that wasn't Lerner's intent. She probably feared Republican distortion and misrepresentation of email.

Where did you get "almost certainly" from?

Do you realize the IRS is supposed to be non-partisan, right?

Why would she be worried about Republicans?

Again, why would a head person at the IRS think anybody was her adversary?

Re: GOP: Lerner warned IRS employees to hide information from Congress

The 'smoking gun' here that I see, is not that Lerner was telling people in her corrupt chain to be careful with e-mail wording, but rather that she was worried that congress would get a hold of them, and she wanted to hide this activity from congress....

That is an intelligent persons interpretation.

Re: GOP: Lerner warned IRS employees to hide information from Congress

If you instruct your personell to omit information from public record, because it could be used as evidence of illegal activity, it's obstruction of justice.

Almost certainly that wasn't Lerner's intent. She probably feared Republican distortion and misrepresentation of email.

Here is the email, there is nothing in it to be suspicious of ... nothing.

You got paid to spam MM spin, got it.

Causer you know, bosses don'[t care what people say in emails until Congress starts looking THEN you have to be careful. This is reaching a level only those that believe MM is an honest broker of information could swallow the **** coming out of the Administration at this point.

How do you read that and think there is nothing to be suspicious of?

Why would she specifically mention Congress unless she intended to hide something from them?

Why is she worried about Congress seeing something they wrote?

Aren't they on the same side, IRS and Congress?

Re: GOP: Lerner warned IRS employees to hide information from Congress

would you please share with us where that was expressed in the email which prompted this thread

Read the link in the OP and you'll see for yourself.

LMMFAO Why would any organization pay anybody to post their information on a website? You should be angry at the Washington Times for giving you false information.

Almost certainly that wasn't Lerner's intent. She probably feared Republican distortion and misrepresentation of email.

That doesn't make obstruction legal.

Didn't you ever take civics in school? The IRS is part of the executive and Congress is part of the legislative branch of the government.

If not obstruction of justice, then certainly something criminal. Destroying evidence during an ongoing congressional investigation can't possibly be legal. That's without a shadow of a doubt.

Almost certainly that wasn't Lerner's intent. She probably feared Republican distortion and misrepresentation of email.

I don't think that it's possible to have insight into Lerner's intent on this without direct knowledge, as she's certainly clammed up since she took the 5th.

The mere fact that there appears to be willful information 'hiding' in case congress investigates is already very suspicious.
Especially so considering the power that the IRS have over the population.

Why are they (Lerner and her buddies) worried about a congressional investigation unless they've been doing something wrong or illegal that congress would object to?

Since it's a government agency, and this is a government "government of the people, by the people, for the people" shouldn't any non-personal and non-private IRS information be available for public inspection?

How do you read that and think there is nothing to be suspicious of?

Why would she specifically mention Congress unless she intended to hide something from them?

I'd have to agree Mason. It's very suspicious, as if they knew they were guilty of something and wanted to try and hide it. Clearly a case and cause for digging deeper and investigating further.

Re: GOP: Lerner warned IRS employees to hide information from Congress

Didn't you ever take civics in school? The IRS is part of the executive and Congress is part of the legislative branch of the government.

What is that supposed to mean? Are the three branches enemies of each other?

IRS above every other department is supposed to be impartial and non-partisan, but that doesn't seem to be the way the employees think of it, or you for that matter.

Re: GOP: Lerner warned IRS employees to hide information from Congress

Translation:
This is an Administration I like, the people in question are my ideology, so whatever spin they put out I gobble up!

It wasn't spin at all... I know I an very careful of wording emails at my work.
