China thinks it can defeat America in battle

The Chinese can dream all they want, but they won't be going to war with the USA anytime soon.

Wait and see.

Do I have another option?

As a matter of fact, you don't.

Nothing is going to happen until it happens so you are just going to have to wait.

You need some patience right now!

Kinda what I thought.

The age of domination is over. Democracy will sweep the planet. When it does, China will be shown for the paper tiger it is. Spare us the BS about the Chinese soldier. They are inexperienced slave labor conscripts that would be happy to run at first opportunity. Chinese people defect to African countries, and you think any of those abused slaves will stand for their oppressors.

China is BS. Deal with it.

You are an optimist. I hope you're right.

The U.S. military is letting a lot of people go, maybe you could hire some of them.

The Bundy-Fest people are looking for something to do. Tell them we don't believe in the federal government. And say we have ranger scrolls that read "Saviors of the Constitution" and they can have one if they join us.

So China invades "their" island 100 miles offshore in a massive airlift. They smash any major resistance in the first week. What deterrence do the subs offer?

It isn't their island. It is a sovereign country. There is a chance that they might not attack it, fearing a confrontation with the U.S. That's the deterrence. Wasn't that complicated, was it? The better question is, does military deterrence work with the current administration in power. My guess is that it doesn't. I don't think anybody fears the U.S. at the moment.

Deterrence was always a nonsense, or at least from very soon after the possibility of nuclear warfare became evident. Didn't Einstein say something about the fifth world war being fought with sticks and stones? Who would be mad enough to trigger that.
Taiwan may be a sovereign nation in our eyes, but the Chinese regard it as theirs, (hence the "") It's only a 100mile jump away, Would the American public take the chance of losing millions of their people for the sake of foreigners they never met and couldn't care less about?

Of course not, but the American politicians would never pass up a chance to bash the other party, whichever one happened to be in power, for not going in and whipping China's *****.
