Protesters block buses carrying undocumented immigrants in California

I agree, conservatives can't be this obtuse. Obama isn't up for reelection, so which Senator's campaign is glad to see the border is now a CRISIS??

Your idea is Democrats in a red or purple state WANT to run on immigration reform this year, and would prefer the border be the scene of protests and GOPers running ads about an INVASION of diseased gang bangers coming her to take your jobs? And that these same democrats appealing to independents want a crisis instead of being able to run on a record (which is true) that shows illegal immigration into this country hasn't been this low over a period of five years (a net of ZERO), since the 1980s, and after net illegal movement was 500k/year from 1990-2008?

And what this also MUST mean, of course, is the campaigns of Republicans running for office in competitive races would like to get the border OFF the news? And that's why right wing outlets like Breitbart run a picture of a shirt, and call it a Muslim prayer rug found at the border!!! To help democrats get elected....... right.....

The corporate rear kissing republicans want to vote for immigration reform. Six months ago, if Boehner allowed a vote on immigration reform, it would have passed. This latest freakout has made the issue toxic waste to any GOPer, and I'd bet my last 5 cents it will never come up for a vote in the House, and is dead.

The demand from right wingers has always been to secure the border first, THEN deal with the 12 million already here. So what you're saying is the way to get immigration reform passed is to demonstrate that the border is porous, for Obama to face months of relentless talk about 'INVASION!' of people with disease, gang members, etc. and otherwise get the right wing base wound up into a frenzy about it?

Nice try, obtuse resides where I indicated.

Geeze. Isn't it fun to see different takes on the same events?

Let's just boil it down to known facts, at which point one can either allow their bias and ideology to determine what is going on, or just let those facts speak for themselves.

Fact, the latino voting rate has not been near the rates for other ethnic group in the last few election cycles.

Hispanic voter turnout rate continues to lag whites, blacks in midterms | Pew Research Center

With the Presidents continued failure to address issues among other minorities, specifically among Blacks, it's going to be critical for Democratic Party candidates to get out the Latino vote. Since Latinos vote Democrat over Republican 4 to 1, and their key number one issue is Immigration Reform, stirring up the issue will be paramount. Gee, I wonder if Immigration Reform has become an issue these days?

This wave of people illegally entering the country has been known about for I'm guessing at least a year. How is that possible? How did the Federal Government know they needed to hire escorts last January?

Spin, twist, and deny, as any good Progressive is trained to do, but the facts vaporize all attempts to do so.

What is being done is to promise a reward for an important voting block, while screwing over legal citizens anxious for jobs, so Latinos will come out and vote.

The facts are undeniable. Fortunately, this Imperial Presidency is being further exposed, and it doesn't appear the people are willing to tolerate more money being taken out of the meager wallets to buy votes for the Democratic Party.

The War on Women slogan will be adapted to become The War on Women, Children and the Poor.

The gullible are always attracted to shinny objects and carrots on a stick. It amazes me how long some are willing to chase that carrot, when the ground is littered with carrots from unfulfilled promises going back so many years.

Tell that to Harry Truman or Dwight Eisenhower

They aren't president. I bet when all the right-wing BS has been played out, very few of these people will be deported. I am in favor of allowing these children and their families into the country. We have a lot of land, and a lot of rich people to tax, so it will be alright.

It just sounded, or read like you were signaling that you thought that Obama was unfairly being called out for this mess today. And although you may or may not support his presidency, he is absolutely failing at this aspect of it.

I have been saying the same thing which I figured clear enough. Decades of unsecured borders have netted us 15 million illegal immigrants, some of which received amnesty already by Reagan. NO president, congress or party has EVER secured our border. Yet partisan GOPer's act as though Obama came in and opened all the gates. Partisan politics at its grandest.

immigration requires secure borders and immigration reform.

you cannot separate the two.

You'd think that Bush and Bush and Reagan had secured our borders! NO President ever has, now its all Obama's fault, don't you see?

sure pal, excellent points. Hey! let's just make all of Central America the 51st state, make all their poor wards of the state, and let all the "rich people" pay for them too. Maybe you should run for President and make that your first campaign promise.

Why? Are you going to take that job scrubbing toilets at motel 6?

Already had that job, or one like it when I was younger and working my way up. But if you really want to know why at this point, you haven't been paying attention.

That's a thought.

Too old.

Not true and wouldn't matter anyway even if it were. Crime hasn't ended, yet we still make the effort. A good many things of life require eternal vigilance.

Actually, that's what the Reagan amnesty plan was suppose do be about. Congress failed on the second step. That's precisely why we the people won't accept amnesty first anymore.

Well of course its time to make an effort at border security. Why'd everybody wait till the Obama administration to start yelling about it?

I don't want anymore Reagan amnesty either. Why didn't congress do step two?

If you think we haven't been talking about this for decades then you haven't been alive all that long. No one waited until Obama got in office. What we waited for was to see what he'd do. What he's done is all on him.

why don't liberals just stay out of politics all together? they take mantras about how to live your life(i.e. live and let live) and then think that same thinking translates into politics. It doesn't. It screws everything up and it's impossible to do the obvious(i.e. throwing out illegals). They don't understand the difference and it's a waste of breath trying to explain it to them.

Same reasons you see all the arguments for open borders here. Some people want slave labor, and an underclass. Others are okay with creating the conditions as long as they can salve their liberal guilty mind (what about the children?).

Sorry dude. NO administration has ever taken secure borders serious. They will remain as porous throughout Obama's administration as they were in Bush's and every administration Prior. And, they will remain porous through the next administration as well. Regardless of what party holds the WH.
