If an immigrant, no matter where they're from, is the one the business wants to hire, than they're the one that should be hired. The American Government is not a Union, and shouldn't act as one.
Once upon a time, these people wouldn't have been illegals, they would have been fed directly into the legal program, they would have stayed, or returned seasonally based on their own plans, generate some business as they worked here, and that would have been that. The Economic order goes on as it should.
Today, we have an economically disruptive system, one that categorically disallows people from coming here, not because they are violent, not because they are terrorists, not because they're ne'er do wells or seek welfare, but simply because they're low-skilled, and aren't from here.
If you are low skilled, and have no relatives living in the United States, you have no chance of coming here. There is no line for you, and you will simply be turned away.
Most immigrants fall into this category, so either they become illegals, or they don't come. That's the choice we've put in front of them.
Additionally, for High Skilled immigrants there is a shallow pool. 85,000 H1-B visas, 225,000 applicants a year. They go virtually within the first day. To assign them, the visas are put into a lottery.
That is our Government, turning away the next Elon Musk, the next Sergey Brin, the next Ajay Bhatt-led, simply because we didn't make enough visas to meet the demand. We are turning away growth & opportunity, and allowing ourselves to be technologically out-paced, because of a short-sighted, disruptive policy, written by Labor Unions.
It's nonsense. It doesn't make us richer, it makes us poorer. It doesn't make us safer, it makes immigration illicit. Worthy of nothing but contempt.
