John Doe prosecutors allege Scott Walker at center of 'criminal scheme'

Then there is still the First Amendment argument, which is what Walker's legal team brought up that led to the unveiling of the secret documents. According to Citizens' United, money is speech. It may very well apply here.

Yes, that might just work

All I did was present a valid link to the article, and then articulated 2 ways in which Walker could beat the charges. If you saw anything else in my post, then you are hallucinating.

No, you quoted my one sentence post and asserted it was a rant, which you answered with a full on rant of your own. You can't repair what everyone here has seen.

This is a major political bombshell. Looks like Governor Walker, who is considering a presidential run in 2016, is about to be indicted for corruption. But let me put a little wrinkle in this:

What is a felony in Wisconsin is perfectly legal in many other states, which begs the question..... Does Walker really deserve to go to prison over this? And this begs yet another question.... Is this investigation politically motivated?

Discussion?

Article is here.

If it's proven that Walker broke the law, he deserves to go to prison - whether or not this is legal in any other state. Selling pot may be legal in Colorado today, but if you sell it in New York, you should go to prison.

Sheesh!! My ignore list is probably one of the smallest at DP. Now it gets increased by one more troll. Buh bye!

What if the law was unconstitutional to begin with? I don't like dark money, but if the Supreme Court says it's legal, then the case against Walker should be dropped. Also, if what Walker did is legal in other states, then that brings up an issue of equal treatment under the law.

Yep, can't stand to hear the truth 101:

Whom do you suppose is funding this effort to pollute Walker's re-election? Cui bono?

There are restrictions on coordination.

That unlimited money may not be coordinated with the campaign.

Not sure if that applies here.

A law isn't unconstitutional until the Supreme Court rules it so. It's possible that if Walker is convicted, he will be able to appeal his conviction on those grounds. Citizens, not even Governors or Presidents, get to determine the legality of laws. As for equal protection under the law, how do you explain the example I gave of Colorado pot laws?

Criminality has been swirling around the governor for a long time now, no presidency for him. More likely a jail cell.

John Doe prosecutors allege Scott Walker at center of 'criminal scheme'

Madison — Prosecutors allege Gov. Scott Walker was at the center of an effort to illegally coordinate fundraising among conservative groups to help his campaign and those of Republican state senators fend off recall elections during 2011 and '12, according to documents unsealed Thursday.

In the documents, prosecutors lay out what they call an extensive "criminal scheme" to bypass state election laws by Walker, his campaign and two top Republican political operatives — R.J. Johnson and Deborah Jordahl.

The governor and his close confidants helped raise money and control spending through 12 conservative groups during the recall elections, according to the prosecutors' filings.

The documents include an excerpt from an email in which Walker tells Karl Rove, former top adviser to President George W. Bush, that Johnson would lead the coordination campaign. Johnson is also Walker's longtime campaign strategist and the chief adviser to Wisconsin Club for Growth, a conservative group active in the recall elections.

If he broke the law? Lock him up. If Karl Rove broke the law, lock him up, too.

And, Pete, if any Democrats have done the same thing, which they probably have, they should be locked up also.

Truth is, anyone that breaks the law should pay the price, even if it's the President of the United States...

liberal prosecutors at the bequest of public employee unions that haven't had their way with Walker have been out to get him since day one....he'll likely have all the charges dismissed (like before) and no one will notice but the stench will remain thanks to the unions big buddy....the MSM (of course media matters) who likely brought you this message with joy and glee.

You are wrong, Media Matters is not a news gathering operation.

I know, right? I've been following along. Felt like I was getting buzzed by flies with no swatter to be found. :doh

I was like, WTF?

Does Walker really deserve to go to prison over this? I don't think so.

And this begs yet another question.... Is this investigation politically motivated? Oh hell yes.

Is that an excuse? Truly, if he broke the law, he broke the law. Isn't that the only relevant issue?

That said, I know a lot of folks who will love this to be true.

Honestly, here in the great state of Wisconsin, we really aren't all shook up about any of this. Most folks have been waiting for the other shoe to drop for so long it's became old news here and is quite mundane. I guess now, we just wait. Still waiting.

An excuse for what? He asked 2 question and I answered them. FFS. Nobody said anything about excuses (except you).
