John Doe prosecutors allege Scott Walker at center of 'criminal scheme'

The evidence shows that Walker broke the law. Does freedom of speech extend to freedom to break the law? On the other hand, as I already brought up, Walker's lawbreaking in Wisconsin is not lawbreaking in a number of other states. So what does this do to the concept of "equal treatment under the law"? Should this become a Federal issue, or does states rights apply here?

There are thousands of laws that are different in each state.

As long as they don't violate Federal law, it makes no difference.

This is not a new concept.

Yup, one of my questions was if it was politically motivated. Walker probably broke the law here, but the prosecution here does seem politically motivated. Karl Rove would be drooling to do the same if the shoe had been on the other foot. But, again, I ask "Is Wisconsin's law unconstitutional"? I haven't seen this question addressed by many, because they either want to attack Walker or defend Walker.

So what about the constitutionality of the Wisconsin law, as in First Amendment? Walker seems to be very interested in this aspect of the case, since this is the argument his legal team has been making for months.

Yes you are 100% right on both accounts. Walker seems to have broken the law - I'm no lawyer but that law seems clear. And yes, it was absolutely politically motivated. (LMAO on tha Karl Rove comment - how true!).

As far as the constitutionality of the law, that does bring up a very good question. On the surface, it appears that it could be unconstitutional, and if that is the case, I would hope that a judge would agree. It seems the Walker team is saying that the prosecutors applied an unconsitutional interpretation of the John Doe law.

It'll be interesting to see what happens but if nothing else it certainly hurts Walker in the short term.

Blady blah. Apples and oranges. It was already proven as not guilty of anything. Just read up on the subject rather than spout your nonsensical comparisons. The issue now is the guiltiness of John Doe prosecutors’ abuse of government power.

OJ was also proven not guilty of murder but you believe he's guilty despite the lack of a guilty verdict. It's obvious that you're using one standard for OJ and another for a politician you support.

I don't mind right to work. Unions had their time, now they are only another form of corruption. That is another debate I guess.

one which we will never agree on, so it's not even worth it.

I agree on the silliness of this whole John Doe I and II witch hunt. The prosecuters just wasted taxpayer money to get sued. Its so dumb its hilarious. Its as if people striving for power never matured farther than high school.

agree here. the hyperpartisan nonsense just makes me want to puke these days. we can't get anything done or rebuild anything in our country because everyone just wants to root for a ****ing team, and will do anything to win. meanwhile, a small percentage of the population can buy whoever wins.

hopefully we'll fix this **** before the roof caves in.

As far as the first amendment issue goes, I'm reluctant to make a prediction. However, the first amendment doesn't mean that the law can't restrict what a political office holder can do, particularly when it comes to campaigning and the use of campaign money. Even the Citizens United case did nothing to limit the govts power to regulate that. That case was about what a private organization can do, and not what a politician can do.

got Walker e-mails?
got collusion?
These are prosecutors.
Wisconsin is now AAA in corruption compared to my Illinois being the Majors.
7th circuit unsealed documents today--more are still sealed--five lawsuits including Club for Growth :peace

Once again Cui bono? Though we know why you're hot on this.

Actually, poor example. OJ was found guilty in civil court and made to pay restitution.

Then why the hunt for any kind of dirt on Walker by the other team? Both teams are dirty, so they need to realize this, get over the loss, and move on. That's all I'm saying. Ever since the recall the other team has been trying to dig up anything they can on Walker and I'm sick of hearing about it on local news. The state is fine. Jobs are slowly rising here and WI is one of the most solvent states when it comes to pensions. I have no issue with Walker.
Nope, wrong again.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin ranked 37th in private sector job creation last year, lagging behind the national average, based on the latest numbers released Thursday by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Would it come as a surprise to anyone if they were told that Wisconsin's budget was balanced by borrowing money to do it, and fiscal deficits are predicted to spike upward in 2015-2016?

What about the casino in Kenosha? Walker is going to rule on it AFTER the 2014 election, hmmm, I wonder why?

Wisconsin Borrowing It's Future Away

For the life of me, I wished Wisconsinites would at least look around them and stop listening to the small tidbits of information they get from biased media sources.

If it is found Walker did anything he wasn't legally supposed to do, and if found guilty of it, if he get's prison time, I truly hope all the cuts he made to social services and to unions in the state are rolled back. He's done nothing good for the state. He's taking us deeper into debt.

You mean why FOX and friends is hot on defending Walker.
Instead of facing the music as Christie did for 90 minutes, Walker hides behind the skirts of FOX .

Yep and why MSNBC is hot on attacking Walker. Because it suits their political bent. It's a political dog and pony show designed to cut Walker down before an election the dems don't think they can win without smearing the hell out of the opposition.

Why worry about an MSNBC you folks say has two viewers?
You may want to worry a bit more about the prosecutors.

The prosecutors who are HOT on Scott Walker.
And it was the 7th court of Appeals that released documents, and not all of them yet.
Which must be why DEM Mary Burke is now tied with Walker at 46-46, not Wisconsin being 37th in jobs .

Doesn't make this any less of a politically motivated hit. The dems are still butthurt they lost the state, not once, not twice, but every time they flap their gums. They don't want that to happen again, so rather than put their candidate forward on her merits, they sleaze the opposing incumbent. Story as old as politics. The dems have been doing this since they first became a party. Tammany Hall was famous for it.

collusion--citizens united 3--USSC--way ahead of ya--
They are ejected officials...Spin again.
I don't accuse people of spinning or shooting messengers like prosecutors, figuratively speaking.
We're down to Kasich from the RINO wing for President, with Christie's troubles today .

I meant elected officials.

They are as political as everyone else running for office.

Are these Federal Prosecutors allowed to do their jobs or not, without being accused of being political?
And how political is the House with dozens of committees wasting taxpayer money and ignoring the Nation's business.
Please show me where DEMs did this in 2009 .

This is a major political bombshell. Looks like Governor Walker, who is considering a presidential run in 2016, is about to be indicted for corruption. But let me put a little wrinkle in this:

What is a felony in Wisconsin is perfectly legal in many other states, which begs the question..... Does Walker really deserve to go to prison over this? And this begs yet another question.... Is this investigation politically motivated?

Discussion?

Article is here.

Its amazing to watch how gutted campaign funding corruption laws have become and to have someone STILL break campaign funding laws... you gotta work pretty damn hard anymore to break a campaign funding laws anymore. Also looks like good 'ol Karl Rove is involved too. Color me surprised.

He doesn't have to hide behind anyone.

They've tried TWICE to go after him but a judge threw it out.

After all this time you Liberals still have a sore ass over Scott Walker.

After two failed recalls, after two Liberal prosecutors failed to indict him on BS charges he's STILL THERE.

Get over it

Who said he broke the law? Show me the guilty verdict. Thats what I thought. I would focus more about the failed politics in NY if I were you rather than a state halfway across the US.

By that rationale, we can't prosecute any crimes, since the only way we can allege someone broke the law is with a guilty verdict.

Actually, he's not. This case has been stopped by two different judges due to lack of probably cause for the subpoenas issued and the investigation was ceased not to mention the district attorneys who were conducting the investigation are now being sued for first amendment violations. Sadly, this is nothing more than a media trick in an election year.

Explained pretty well here:

A Basic Primer On The Scott Walker Case For Ignorant Reporters

They've tried TWICE to go after him but a judge threw it out.
The Prosecutors have not gone after Walker twice--just this time--over collusion.

As for you talking of Liberals having a sore ass over Walker,
nice job by Arnold in California after Grey Davis was recalled.

You'll have plenty of time to get over McDonnell, McCrory, now Christie, and forever Walker . :lamo

Two different judges decided the Case was BS.

Walker is still the Governor, and Wisconsin is better off for it.

So the jokes on you and your ilk.
