BUSHS 20TH SEPT SPEECH | Video | C-SPAN.org

Here is that remark in context, starting at 16:32 in the video:

Americans are asking, "How will we fight and win this war?''

We will direct every resource at our command--every means of diplomacy, every tool of intelligence, every instrument of law enforcement, every financial influence, and every necessary weapon of war--to the destruction and to the defeat of the global terror network.

Now, this war will not be like the war against Iraq a decade ago, with a decisive liberation of territory and a swift conclusion. It will not look like the air war above Kosovo two years ago, where no ground troops were used and not a single American was lost in combat.

Our response involves far more than instant retaliation and isolated strikes. Americans should not expect one battle, but a lengthy campaign unlike any other we have ever seen. It may include dramatic strikes visible on TV and covert operations secret even in success.

We will starve terrorists of funding, turn them one against another, drive them from place to place until there is no refuge or no rest.

And we will pursue nations that provide aid or safe haven to terrorism. Every nation in every region now has a decision to make: Either you are with us or you are with the terrorists.

I really wish people would stop acting like lemming, providing out of context snippets, provided to them from pundits.

I heard that **** the whole time I was telling them not to go into Iraq. I was anti-American. Just like anyone who dared to criticize Bush on anything. "either you are with us or you are with the terrorist."

Agree with Bush or you are not only anti-American, you are a terrorist. So the fall back is just a repeat of their history.

So, are you being intellectually dishonest, or ignorant?

See my last post.

The man is sending 250 troops to prop up an embassy that may come under siege. For all those who think this is a bad idea, I hope you aren't the ones asking for Hilary's head because she screwed up Benghazi. For all those asking answers for how Benghazi can happen, how one of our ambassadors can be killed, you should be cheering this action.

I will say this is the best decision the President and his team made in this crisis.
I agree. Better safe than sorry.

As much as I hate president Obama, I'm not going to complain about every decision made because I hate him.

Wesley Clark got it right. The neocons wanted to destabilize the Middle East, they just thought they could control the chaos and turn it to their advantage.

I'm sorry, but this and other clips of him, I don't trust. I simply don't believe anything he says.

Why was he forced to leave SACEUR early? Does he have a bone to pick?

If by neocons you mean Obama, Clinton, and all the rest of the administration cheerleaders during the Arab Spring uprisings...well...sure...I suppose so.
It was Clinton that removed him from his post in 1999.

Is that worse than calling Bush a Bin Laden's bitch IYO?

Obama in the Toilet at Conservative Conference

The Faith and Freedom Coalition’s Road to Majority Conference, which draws some of the biggest conservative icons and presidential hopefuls looking to make inroads with the grassroots, was heavy on criticism of Obama’s domestic and foreign policy agenda. And small figurines of Obama’s head, first spotted by the Huffington Post‘s Igor Bobic, were placed inside the urinals in the mens’ restroom outside the conference hall where the likes of Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie were addressing a crowd of several hundred.

National Rifle Association Bans Bleeding “Obama” Target, Others Remain

The company, Zombie Industries, sells a range of three-dimensional “life sized” targets that “bleed when you shoot them.” The Obama likeness has been on display for two days, but was notably absent on Sunday.

“Someone from the NRA came by and asked us to remove it” a Zombie Industries booth worker told BuzzFeed in hushed tones. “They thought it looked too much like President Obama.”

When asked if the Obama likeness was intentional the worker said, “Let’s just say I gave my Republican father one for Christmas.”

There's a lot worse out there than calling Bush, Bin Laden's bitch on a small website forum.

There may be different degrees of ignorance but it's still ignorance.

When the White House says they are sending hundreds of troops for the Embassy and 'other American interests', I get suspicious.

You don't, fine.

The troops being discussed here are US Marines assigned to protect Embassies. "Interests" in this context means "also the people inside those embassies, and their families", as prior to Benghazi the USMC mission in Embassies was generally strictly limited to the classified information and the person of the Ambassador.

Obama is calling them "Military Advisers", perhaps because he doesn't want to back off his 'no boots on the ground' promise.

There isn't a terrorist army 10,000 men strong invading Iraq either. This "army", if you consider it one, is made up primarily of Iraqi Sunnis, many of whom have been fighting in Syria. This is an internal, religious, political conflict among Iraqis determining what kind of country they want going forward. Those who don't want to be ruled by terrorist thugs and murderers need to stand up and be heard. I believe they will be.
Kinda hard to talk once your head has been removed from your body.

Indeed - but if not now, then they will be back under Hussein like control for the next 50 years. Perhaps they should go with Patrick Henry's "give me liberty, or give me death".

They are not going to fight. Its evident they don't have the heart for it. The ones that thought they did, ran. The few that actually do, end up being leaders like Saddam.

You could be right - the Kurds in the north, however, are putting up a pretty good battle, but then they always fought against Sadaam too.

They did, and if Daddy Bush had backed them as promised. They whole Iraq war would have never happened with US involvement.

And Malaki rejects Kerry's proposal to unify the Iraqi people and government, isn't that nice. Bring our people home now John, bring 'em home. Malaki is beyond help.

Do you know why he didn't? The name Chalibi should be a hint.

Oil minister? How is he part of the Kurds issue?

He was working with Iran and was setting us up. The CIA caught on, and Bush sr. Cancelled our response. Later Bush the lessor trusted Chalibi and his heroes in error. Follow that line and you'll find connections with Iran yet again.

Ah, no. You are thinking of a different group.

This is no surprise. Maliki has always been a sectarian, not national leader. Even as his country risks disintegration, Maliki remains committed to his singular focus on serving Shia interests, even at the expense of those of Iraq's other peoples regardless of the consequences of that pursuit. He would rather roll the proverbial dice on preserving Shia dominance than accept any formula that would allow all of Iraq's peoples full political participation.

What is it with Obama and women that'll carry his water?

First Rice and Benghaz, and now Harf and Iraq.

What power does this guy have over these people that'll publicly torture the facts like this in the news media?

Well...in their defense...it's only Fox News...
