IRS: So… Our Computer Crashed And Erased All Of Lois Lerner’s Emails

Bush been gone long time who cares. its over!!!!! new corrupt .gov in office now we are talking about this corrupt version.

pointing out this is nothing new
that those who are criticizing this now were the ones defending the administration who lied about it previously
just another example of reich wing hypocrisy

IRS: So

Excuse me if I don't believe these people. Someone needs to go to jail, and we the people need to know what the hell is going on with the IRS and the White House.

I do this for a living. There is no one server crash in ANY federal mail system that will erase a users email archive. Give me their dead server and access to their Iron Mountain tape archive.

This is the smoking gun. This is what starts sending people to jail.

Nobody defended it previously. How about you stick to reality? Those in government have been lying and cheating for a long time, we all know that, care to comment on the missing emails WRT this IRS scandal?

Because they stalled for nearly 2 years and gave an excuse they should have been able to give congress a year and a half ago, I wouldn't be surprised if there aren't emails in there that tie this directly to the White House... I'm just speculating mind you, but the way they are trying to drag this thing out as long as possible would certainly be a tactic taylor made for elected officials who are not up for reelection and just need a few more years to avoid a messy political scandal.

On a side note... I wonder if this got mentioned tonight on the nightly news by ABC, NBC or CBS... If I were a betting man, I would say maybe one of them did, but it wouldn't surprise me if none of them mentioned it at all...

This was a "Friday news dump" that the IRS purposely told to congress today, so that hopefully by Monday it will be forgotten by our diligent main stream news media and they never have to report it.

If this actually occurred, it was no accident nor mismanagement or negligence.
I am not so quick to rule out indolence nor incompetence.
However, if it were not one of the options listed, then the account is not true.
I premised my comments on the account provided being true.

The IRS is welcome to continue having "computer crashes" and loosing all sorts of data from verious policy, current legal actions, employee payroll, even the deed to its buildings...and then close.

Either the IT crew are incredibly incompetent and never fixed/replaced a broken backup policy for years? or they are completely full of **** and did some dirty "housekeeping"... wow.

Oh hell, my computer crashed and I lost all my tax records, sorry IRS.

f-ing liars in the administration.

dumb ****s in media buy it.

this is your smoking gun people!!

the house of representatives needs to use its legal authority which it has and but lerner in jail!!

I think that just a few years ago, they would never try such an outrageous, insulting excuse. But this administration is very brazen now, they will say anything. They know that 1) The press will just let it go and 2) They can say virtually anything without being called on it by the drones on the left. I think they are just trying to find the edge of the envelope, where they will finally be called on something they say by their own supporters.

The sad thing is, they haven't found the limit yet. Obama had promised to be the most transparent administration ever, then after the election, proceeded to be one of the most secretive administrations ever. Not a peep from the left.

They must sit there and laugh as they decide what crap they are going to put out. "The computer crashed, we lost all the emails." Then someone says,"are you kidding? We can't say that!" Then they review what Obama has already said, stuff like "he just found out about it on the news". Or,"He saw it in the newspaper." "Everything will be on C-SPAN." Then they all laugh (at us) and decide to go ahead, no matter how outrageous.

Just imagine a break-in at a hotel room of the Republicans, that Obama had no knowledge of, but decided to try and cover it up. Think something like that would force him out of office? Not a chance.

I'd like to see some documentation on this if you don't mind.

The problem is not just that there is an irrecoverable file from a hard drive; that happens on occasion. The problem is that the story would have us believe that these emails all existed on a single storage medium. Redundant back up is fundamental to data management.

I'm not one to engage in conspiracy theories, but this notion is so laughably absurd to anyone remotely familiar with system administration that one can't help but raise an eyebrow. I need to research this more.

Well, so much for this scandal. I'm done with it. The GOP isn't going to act on this as they should, the media will yawn. FYI Didn't the EPA make this same claim about a Landmark Legal demand... their hard drive "failed". Criminal is what it is, but until the zombies wake up from their stupid, nothing really matters.

I don't believe it either. Maybe a tech-savvy someone will check in on this thread. But my common sense tells me that "every computer within the IRS" is backed up every hour. I say a crash that would have lost all these emails is a bold-faced lie.

I am suspicious of the word crash which is too often used as short hand to describe other types of issues. That being said, backup systems can and do fail all the time for any number of reasons. Personally though, I am not sure I would give the IRS the benefit of the doubt on this one until I see documentation.

Documentation from whom? You can't trust anything the federal government says.

The government. I will disagree that their credibility is as low as you say, but I wouldn't want to take their word for it in this case. But yes, I would like to see the incident info on this one before I would give them a pass.

Very likely, their legal hold procedures should have prevented this at the very least, above and beyond any normal back up routines.

A whole lot of "someones" need to go to jail.

This is the most corrupt administration in the history of the republic. Yet another parallel to Nixon. Rosemary Woods is laughing in her grave.

The Law Enforcement people led by Obama's conciliatory, Holder, are in lock step with the Chief Executive in breaking and ignoring the law. The Congress is pen of sleeping, drunk, lying thieves who are not in the business of upholding their oaths or asserting their Constitutional responsibilities. They should all resign or commit Hara-Kari.

As a nation, we are well and truly screwed and are receiving the government that we have ignored into existence.

It doesn't matter who you're voting for. In November, vote him out. It's time to clean house.

Agreed, as someone who is also in Enterprise IT, there is NO WAY IN THE WORLD that the IRS does not have back up and disaster recovery, that is total BS, and congress should not take it as a truth. Their Exchange servers or whatever they use is backed up in real time, it has to be.

Tim-

Not to be completely cynical here, but are under the misconception that the Congress is looking for justice?

All they want is a talking point for the mid terms. Looks like they have one.

There will be NO progress in the investigation because Holder is running it and the Congress is a herd of castrated drunks who only want to steal our money.

I served as a court appointed drive recovery specialist on one case. It's not something I do every day (thank God), but it wasn't difficult at all, just takes time and tools that are readily available.

Plus, if you look into it you'll find the tech companies use drive shredders to guard against that. Even a BFM (big ****in' magnet) isn't considered as enough anymore.

I'm sure the Department of Justice will go over the hard drive and if there is anything there, they will finish the job.

It's really too bad that the Congress is peopled by corrupt and lying thieves who admire the tactics of the White House and wish they could pull it off.

Do you have a link to me defending corruption previously?

Do you have a good argument, absent the bomb throwing, for defending corruption now?
