House Majority Leader Cantor loses GOP primary to tea-party challenger[W:243:247:349]

Re: Eric Cantor is Gone

Eric Cantor is Gone

:2dancing: :bravo: :2party: :rwbelepha :ind:

Tea Party Movement still alive.

No amnesty for undocumented Democrats.

Re: Eric Cantor is Gone

Virginia GOP rules won't allow it.

Guess you can't always believe what you see on TV.

Not so. Democrats nominated another professor from Randolph Macon. You have until the polls close to make the nomination.

Guess you can't always believe what you read from a news source.

Re: Eric Cantor is Gone

Five million loses to $100,000 ...Ouch!
I am glad to see this twit go.
His district could easily go Democratic now.

Democrat's name is Jack Trammel, also a professor at RMC. But have it your way.

Hey, I wasn't doubting you, it's just the last I read after Cantor lost is that earlier the Dems canceled their convention and didn't nominate a candidate.

I'm assuming you'll be happy when Sen. Rubio goes down also, for his immigration bill that actually passed.
Cantor got what he deserved for his deceit and planned obstruction since election night 2008.
Imagine Obama and his Cantor smirk tonite .

Re: Eric Cantor is Gone

Aren't you ignoring the fact he lost his primary because he wasn't obstructionist enough

As a purely logical consequence, yes. As a non-political matter, no. It depends on whether or not you believe being an obstructionist is the right thing for all American Citizens. I tend to believe that it is destructive for all that matter and beneficial only to those with myopic views about how our nation's business should be managed.

I come from the perspective that replacing our current system with one that works for all The People, is the best solution. It is not a political solution because no one special interest dominates in their philosophy. It would be an inclusive system that only managed the nation's business and no more than that. It would be the kind of government that Jefferson, told us to implement in times just like our own - when government becomes tyrannical and fails to serve the needs of The People.

I'm talking about shifting away from an ideologically based political system and moving towards a managerial model where decisions are made against an agreed upon and highly scrutinized set of performance metrics - and where the United States Constitution was strictly adhered to without state infringements. I'm talking about finally setting the record straight and putting The People in charge of our great nation, instead of the minority elite and the Committee of 300.

Re: Eric Cantor is Gone

Regardless of why Cantor lost (although turnout did seem to work against him -- primaries only count those who vote, and there were ~65K votes cast in the primary; Cantor won in 2012 with ~220k votes), it appears to me that the Republicans have serious internal polling issues. Romney's internal polls turned out to be total crap; Cantor's had him 30+ points ahead. Something is very wrong when these guys' internal polling numbers are that far off.

Sorry, I misunderstood.

Re: Eric Cantor is Gone

those in this VA district are naive DA's. you just lost your influence in congress. no one will listen to this guy!!

just plain stupid by the voters.

It's worse than that. Cantor was somewhat of an obstacle to the "No Immigration Reform" block of the GOP. Now the Dems get to paint the GOP in even worse light for minorities. I harbor no love for Cantor, but the GOP voters should recognize this a defeat for their party, not a victory.

Re: Eric Cantor is Gone

I have a hard time believing the Democrats turned out enough voters for an opposing party primary to engineer a 45 pt swing.

I agree... it didnt happen.. this was an internal shift in the GOP and should scare the heck out of the Dems

Re: Eric Cantor is Gone

Makes sense to me, that race probably was never polled. Everyone just assumed in was in the bag.

I guess the party leaders are learning that you can't count on much any more; but it is strange that an almost solid Rep district would vote the way they did! No wonder they weren't paying that much attention to Cantor's race, even though VA is an open primary State, and hindsight has shown maybe they should have been! And remember, the Clintons worked hard to get their boy McCauliffe elected governor in 2013, too. That's one reason I'm glad Ohio is not an open primary State. If you're registered Repub, that's the ballot you get in the primary, and vice versa, and the people at the voting places have those records. Open voting is only allowed in Presidential elections, which I think is fair.

Greetings, Pero. :2wave:

Already been addressed, but thanks for not reading the thread through first.

Sensitive are we? I stop and reply as I read because I will forget my thoughts if I don't.

Incorrect...it shows that a failure to oppose Obama and the Libs will not longer be status quo ..

The Dems own it now.. no more Cantor to blame.. this is more horrible news for Obama and the Dems.

I think with 60,000 to 90,000 new Obama's young illegal aliens crossing over the border after the Obama administration had told America that the borders were secured kills amnesty as long as Obama is in the White House.

Cantor was between the sheets with Corporate America and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

It's a start, when will the Democrat voters start doing the same ?

Fair enough. I had a long day. Sorry.

Re: Eric Cantor is Gone

The GOP majority leader loses to a TEAt and you say DEMs should be worrying.
I'd say the old guard trying to get Sen. Cochran to the finish line are the ones worrying.

Many Dems like me will be watching the 2nd half of the NBA and switching at commercials to the spinners on cable .
