Gwyneth Paltrow: Mean words hurt water's feelings

`
One thing for certain, people who follow celebrity news aren't exactly the brightest people around.

You got sources for that bull****?

From the same science that brought you anthropogenic global warming.....

No, this is from the same "science" that brought you anti-vaccers, snake oil, and recently got "reparative" therapy for homosexuals added to the Texas GOP platform. Try not to confuse it with actual science, that just looks ignorant.

All this talk about water and now I have to pee.

Anthropogenic global warming, although controversial with conservatives, libertarians, fringe scientists and some energy companies, has been documented and verified by hundreds of real scientists.

...whom are all climbing over other for the mountain of government grants, appointments, and research funding they stand to gain by "verifying" AGW.

Nothing would happen... water reacts to sound waves, wind, hot and cold and basically nothing more, and especially not feelings or words. That idea is stupid.

Not to mention that in those sound waves both forms of energy are being transferred (As they are with almost anything physical), and when not listening to the music, (I can't believe I just said that) any other form of energy transfer is equally expected to change the physical matrix of any matter it comes into contact with, even if only minute. I really can't believe this thread lasted this long. This is thermal dynamics 101 folks. :)

I was really enjoying that Cosmos series until they started pushing this nonsense.. They could have done so much more with that series and wasted it on propaganda, and it bothers me. Keep the politics out of science for the Love of God, please!

It's a show about science and amongst actual scientists there isn't a debate any more on climate change. Therefor it's part of the show. Science doesn't care about conservative talking points.

I'm baffled by why people pay attention to these celebrities. It is as though people think their fame makes their opinions and statements more valuable than anyone else's. If I want good information from an actress, I'll ask her about acting about which she has some expertise. Baffling.

No, it was a show about scientific discoveries throughout time, and morphed into speculative conclusions about climate change. It was written mostly for the low information viewer in the hopes (I imagine) that they can gather more support for their cause.

No. It was not just a show about scientific discoveries. It also discussed current theories regarding the cosmos especially regarding space, space travel, theories on the universe prior to the big bang, multiverse etc.

Climate change isn't speculative. It is science.

Climate research is science, however the conclusions as mixed as they are and from either side are speculative in nature. Can we at least agree on this point?

Because Fox is known for being so supportive of addressing climate change.

It actually has less to do with being crazy and more to do with being a gullible fool_

Well she's apparently also pretty good at looking like an idiot so please don't encourage her!

Poor poor Gwyneth__This is a good example of the mind-set of people who believe being a liberal is a sign of intelligence_

Sorry Excon, but I saw no evidence of exactly what the water had actually reacted to_

If the claim had been that aliens were the catalyst; I would want to see the aliens in action!

I'm pretty sure Sheryl Crow was the rocket surgeon responsible for that particular doozy_ :giggle1:

Yes, that was Crow. Definitely the rocket surgeon.

I don't watch much TV and reality shows are not my forte. But this week when Celebrity Wife Swap came on and I just left it on. One of the celebrity wives was Dweezil Zappa's wife. The other's name completely escapes me. I have to say that Zappa is the first celebrity I've seen who really lives what he preaches. The other celeb lived in a 14,000 square foot house, had 6 cars, all kinds of 'gluttonous excess' as Zappa's wife put it. Zappa, his wife, an step daughter live in a 1400 square foot house, walk to do all their shopping, grow their own garden, don't let daughter have a cell phone. His wife said they were trying to leave a small carbon footprint. Most celebs just preach it to the rest of us then live in their log (or marble) mansions and circle the country in their gas guzzling Silver Eagles.

Well 'they' are wrong. Actors are men and actresses are women.

You can call a dog a cat, but a dog will always be a dog.

That's old terminology. Listen to awards ceremonies. They are all called and call themselves 'actors.' Kinda like we are all mankind.

So you're saying I can't spray down Lady Liberty with good old H2O, hook up an NES controller, start playing "Your Love Is Lifting Me Higher and Higher" (or some other song water likes), and make her walk across the Harbor?

The conclusions are not mixed and are not speculative. At least from the actual scientists side.

Um, no, that's not the "same science" that brought global warming.

The RW desperately wants to tell each other that it's the same science.
I was hoping I would read through all four pages of their circle jerk without encountering anyone willing to give them the dignity of a reply.
Of course, I do realize the temptation to coax them out of their bubble is strong. I've yielded many times myself.
But then that clip from City Slickers, the one about programming a VCR pops into my head with Bruno Kirby's words of wisdom:

"He doesn't get it, he'll NEVER get it, you've been at it for FOUR HOURS, the COWS could tape something by now!"

In reality what makes her politics any different from ours? because she has money? - so what, money isn't everything in the world...I'd still be me if someone gave be a Billion dollars. Would still post here, would hold the same views and would still be the same man.

It's ****ing money man.... How can that really change you as an individual.

Sure I may upgrade in certain areas but wouldn't spend over a Mill.

I don't know what I would do with 900 million.

I'd probably give a lot of it away.

Water has feelings. It likes us to be "nice" to it, and it likes nice things. It will like us better if we are nice to it.

This is what kind of warped human beings we are dealing with, folks. These are the people in charge right now. People like this don't listen to logic, it makes no sense to them. They have already decided how things need to be, and anything is excusable that gets them there.

Just substitute "terrorists" for "water" above, and you have Obama's thinking.
Ah, what a great philosophy, nice thoughts. Seems harmless, but this crap will destroy our country.

Oh My Goodness! Such insensitivity, and by one of our very own no less!

Sorry Mae, but the rules of Political Correctness require that I label you a "sexist"!

(I am of course just kidding around Mae, by poking fun at liberals' beloved PC) :giggle1:
