Cruz wins presidential straw poll at GOP summit

Yes yes, I understand that, we get it, you want money out of politics, are you offended by the Citizens United ruling?

Offended? Disgusted more like it. Large sums of money or favors directly or indirectly from a donor sets up tit for tat. Just because legally something is not a bribe does not mean in spirit is not a bribe.

Okay. Thank you for answering.

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz has won the latest presidential straw poll at a conservative summit in Louisiana.

Cruz took 30 percent of the vote at the Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans. He edged out conservative speaker and author Ben Carson.

What doe's anyone think about this?

My thoughts are that neither Cruz, nor Carson will ever see the inside of the White House except as guests.

I doubt that either one of them will be the GOP's candidate.

I like cruz where he is in the legislative branch, that is where you need a fighter. Ben Carson is more measured, a better disposition for the executive branch I'd say.

Well, it may be an asinine statement but it's true. he's a dumbass. a dumbo. He has no leadership skills, no intellectual capacity for governance and he's toxic. He did an idiotic shutdown of the govt and now he denies he played a part in it. It's like he doesn't know that video recordings exist. He has no balls either to at least stand up for what turned out to be an unpopular move.

If you voted I'm sure you'd vote for Hillary.

you can freely engage in unsubstantiated speculation but that doesn't change the condition of cruz or the other main GOP candidates. Neither of the 2 presented in the OP or the others vehiculated like Rand Paul or the other guy... the one with the water deficit... i forget his name... anyway, all of them are flops. They can't get anyone outside their base to vote for them and it's doubtful that their base will too. And no, they base isn't 50%+1 of the total voters so you need to get the independents and the center leaning democrats.

Just your opinion, and it is irrelevent to me. You have provided anything convince, except calling him dumbo.

Try telling the resident expert on everything TurtleDude that FDR was one of the three greatest Presidents.
Btw, I tapped on to a thread about Ted Cruz.
If Dems could be so lucky .

Even polls of experts hand picked by libertarians have found FDR to be one of three GREAT presidents.

Let's see, GOP's last few candidates... Romney, McCain, Dole, and Bush. 3 out of 4 lost. Bush had two close elections. All four are moderates, no where near conservative. Last conservative, Reagan. Won in two tremendous landslides. In two elections, he won something like 97 out of 100 states.
Yeah, why nominate a conservative like Cruz? We're doing so well with the moderates!

in today's GOP REagan would be a RINO

It's interesting how the RLC could even consider Mr. Cruz.
After all, his father was born in Cuba although his mother was born in the US.
This would make him ineligible to run for president; much like the criticism heaped on candidate Obama.
Did anyone ask for Mr. Cruz' birth certificate? No? Why am I not surprised?
