Iran Cuts Nuclear Stockpile, IAEA Says

True. Proving negatives has always been problematic.

Where did it go? Was it moved to a neutral country? Was it destroyed? Yes, there are ways to verify that the Iranians no longer possess the material.

Go read the IAEA report instead of reverting automatically to the everything is Obama's fault meme.

I have a better idea: answer the question, if you can. If you can't, we have no choice but to admit that we don't know where the surplus material is located. Therefore, it could still be a part of Iran's stockpile.

You've never had a better idea. IAEA covers it, read.

And since they obviously lied about their intentions, we can assume they're lying about reducing their stockpile.

If the news story stated that Iran had increased their bomb-making capability, you would buy it hook, line and sinker.

Such a very good point.

How do you know it's a positive development?

Because the agency commissioned by the UN to monitor Iran, the one that has actually been working in the country (which you haven't been doing, I would point out) says so. Read it!

The same UN that ran the oil for foos scam and sex slave trafficking? That UN?

How do you know it's a positive development?

Is there any standard of evidence that would be acceptable to you?

I don't think the IAEA was implicated in any of that. What do you fancy apdst, turn Iran into a sea of glass and be done with them with no more concerns, or have you another plan for Iran?

At least that story would make sense given their recent history.

Don't look like.....they will get Iran to commit to any deal here. ;)

Iran pushes back against US demands at nuke talks.....

Iran pushed back Wednesday against U.S. demands for concessions at nuclear talks, declaring it would never "kneel" over what curbs Tehran must accept to win an end to the sanctions choking its economy.

Both Iran and the six world powers it is negotiating with want an accord by July 20. But they parted last month without significant progress — and came to the table Wednesday with demands that the other side blink first.

"We have never bowed down to imposition and we will not accept it in this round of talks either," Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif told reporters in Vienna.
The negotiators now are working on a draft deal they started drawing up in June. Zarif described that document back then as having more blank sections than text.....snip~

Although Iran isn't saying they won't make any deal, just not the one offered that they consider lopsided.

Well, and that they wont be intimidated by any talk of sanctions if they don't do this or that.

I don't blame them, looking around the region, the things the US has forced upon governments by hook or by crook, I mean by economic or military war, have only encouraged chaos and instability.

So, you can't answer my question, as I thought. Thanks!

I went looking since I was curious. The report really didn't tell me how they confirmed the neutralization or what the neutralization process was. I did find this passage from the report interesting.

J. Additional Protocol
61. Contrary to the relevant resolutions of the Board of Governors and the Security Council, Iran is
not implementing its Additional Protocol. The Agency will not be in a position to provide credible
assurance about the absence of undeclared nuclear material and activities in Iran unless and until Iran
provides the necessary cooperation with the Agency, including by implementing its Additional
Protocol.61

I believe 'pushing back' is precisely what the concept of talks are for.

It's basic negotiation. You really can't set up talks, put a proposal on the table, and then have the other side 'push back', leading you to claim they they won't negotiate.
