Police call deadly Santa Barbara shooting spree 'premeditated mass murder'[W220]

I know a guy like this. He posts on Facebook all the time about how many days he's gone without sex (which is the same number of days that he has been alive) and talks about the size of his bollocks and some crazy stuff. The last time I was alone with him I offered my sincere help to him. He was deeply offended that I thought there was something wrong with him, but I bet that he appreciated it... eventually.

We need to help people seek the care they need. What Americans need to be is understanding, compassionate, and above all, we need to listen to other people. So many of us talk and talk and talk and never shut up, but won't listen to a word that another person says. There's nothing I hate to see more than innocent people killed for nothing. For "retribution" against nothing. But it's also sad that some of these people would never do these awful things in a world where people actually cared about each other and respected each other. Maybe he was beyond any help and people did try to help him, I don't know. But I do know that most people suck.

He sounds nice.

There's a lot of men in this country who feel entitled to female attention and lash out when they don't get as much as they think they deserve.

He sounds like a few posters on this site who have whined about not getting the affection they wanted from women.

He even used some of the exact same derogatory terminology I've seen over and over on this site to describe the guys who do get the girls.

Re: Police call deadly Santa Barbara shooting spree 'premeditated mass murder'

I don't think that are liable for the damages, they didn't pull the trigger. But they are trying to deflect any responsibility they had or possible choices they could have made to maybe have prevented this situation.

Lots of people are lost when it comes to dealing with a loved one suffering with mental issues...It can be very similar to drug addiction.

Significantly, I think, these are the same guys who objectify women as Elliot Rodger did. :(

Especially with a Beamer and a hundred bucks in his pocket.

Keep in mind that Elliot Rodger had a grandiose opinion of himself as "the perfect guy" and "supreme gentleman." He wanted only the "spoiled, stuck-up blonde sluts."

Meawhile, on the south side of Chicago, more people than this get shot most every week.

Doesn't serve the agenda, however.

You make a sad point here, but multiple senseless killings isn't the same as mass murder, as is the case with the UCSB shooter.

Uh... yes it does. Quote Obama: “Last year, there were 443 murders with a firearm in this city (Chicago), and 65 of them were 18 and under. That’s the equivalent of a Newtown every four months. That’s precisely why the overwhelming majority of Americans are asking for some common sense proposals to make it harder for criminals to get their hands on a gun.”

What are you talking about? Are you saying that I am blaming this on guns? I haven't said anything on that subject, I was just pointing out that gang violence gets plenty of play by Obama and the media

I don't believe one should lose sight of the ugly, dehumanizing, and dangerous subculture to which the suspect subscribed.

BBC News - Are 'pick-up artists' to blame for Isla Vista shooting?

In the wake of the tragedy, it's important that a light be shone on the above groups/similar ones and their twisted perspectives. Women bear no blame whatsoever for Rodger's murderous rampage nor the "frustration" expressed by individuals who belong to the kind of groups cited in the BBC piece. Misogyny ought to have no place in any modern or civilized society. Rationalizations propagated by such groups targeted at women are attempts to cloak misogynistic worldviews behind seemingly reasonable-sounding grievances. Unrelenting scrutiny will make it more difficult for such groups to function and could well help reduce the risk of abuse directed at women in the longer-run.

How do you propose to prevent criminals from doing stuff you don't want them to do? I mean, seriously, the very definition of a criminal is "one who breaks the law".

We prohibit the sale of alcohol and cigarettes to minors yet they manage to get those things with little to no trouble. We prohibit the manufacture, sale and possession of certain drugs to everyone yet we have a multi-billion dollar illicit drug trade in this country. It's no different with guns. No matter how illegal you make them they will still be on the streets and criminals will still have them.

Would you really feel better if all law abiding citizens were disarmed and only the drug cartels and homicidal maniacs had guns?

Frankly Chicago is worse, as there are many more shooters.

I have earned my right to carry a gun due to my status as an American, the BOR, my perfectly clean record and the fact that there are many more criminals than cops.

I am not, nor never will be, a problem.

I simply want to protect my family and myself.

I will not go through any more hoops that I have to go through now.

Those morons just dont want to face reality. They are not 'men.' They are whiny boys. No woman wants that.

We have a society in which men believe they are entitled to attractive women. Unfortunately, attractive women tend to choose successful men. Hence, men that do not (or have not yet...which they dont seem to realize) achieve success financially or thru other recognition tend to resent it when the women *they want* reject them. Instead of adjusting their own expectations in looks, they blame women. All women it seems.

So the more of a loser someone is, the harder it's going to be to get those beautiful women....sad, dangerous cycle.

It's even evident in many threads here on the forum, thinly veiled in claiming that the US was much better when women only had traditional roles (comes up in lots of issues).

Looks like he was a jewish racist as well. Just like Donald Tocowitz "Sterling":

Elliot Rodger Posted Racist Messages on PuaHate Website | Mediaite
Found/Fabricated yourself yet ANOTHER "Joooo" to hate have you?
More Klan Krap.

Where in your Link does it say he's Jewish?
He's at least Half Non-Jewish, the big half in that respect: Malaysian mother.
I don't believe the father, Peter Rodger, a British film producer, is Jewish either.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elliott_Rodger#Perpetrator

got Any proof/Link for your baseless assertion?

A Few days ago I caught you Bigoted LYING that Congressman Joe Garcia was Jewish.

I get annoyed when people say "why don't they (and by that pronoun, they mean Obama, Democrats in general, or the media) talk about gang violence." Or it's "black on black violence" or something like that. It's all garbage. They talk about gang violence all the time.

My post had nothing to do with the issue of gun control. I can see why you would jump to that conclusion, but you are wrong. Contrary to the belief of many pro-gun posters on this forum, I can point out when one of your fellow pro-gun posters is wrong without it indicating that I am a rabid, foaming at the mouth anti gun nut who blames every tragedy on the NRA.

My apologies. I misread your intent.

Agreed. And who to blame always seems to follow a pattern. Murder and Motivation :: SteynOnline

I like Mark Steyn's description of Rodger as "the usual mentally disturbed solipsistic loner seeking a primetime blow-out in a blaze of narcissistic glory."

I transcribed the "retribution" video and have skimmed through the entire 140-page manifesto to check out what I suspected about the vid's "rehearsed" language, and the pitiable immaturity and grandiosity and narcissism--as a god, exacting his revenge and going out in a pathetic blaze of glory--are all right there. Steyn nails it with "mentally disturbed solipsistic loner."

Sad.

These videos and huge multi-page manifestos (common to other such killers) clearly display the time and planning that go into these things. They are not 'spur of the moment'. Waiting periods and other gun laws are not going to stop them. They LIVE during the planning, the fantasizing of the damage they'll do, the revenge they imagine they'll get. They are more alive during this period than ever and most intend to die.

Make guns harder to get? They'll just plan how to get them. Take guns completely out of the picture? They'll just plan another way to kill. Tighten up security? Just one more challenge that 'the big man' figures out how to overcome. It's about the planning and fantasy....not the weapons. They get off on it....it is their last hurrah.
