The cops had their chance to prevent this, just like the parents, his family and friends, and the mental health professionals.
They all failed, as usual, and I will not be a victim because of their pathetic complacency.
perhaps it wasnt complacency. maybe instead they were concerned about infringing(or being seen as) on his 2nd amendment rights.
imagine any of them, at any time, insisting he couldnt own a firearm.
is there even an expedient means to inhibit a person from owning a pistol they've purchased legally, due to suspicion of intent to harm others, or mentally unstable enough to "snap"? id say no, based on the history of such things and add that because of its sensitive history the legal responses are black and white, and reactionary only.

whats more, we know more about the weapon than the medication he's been on historically. the elephant in the room is being ignored in these cases, because the public tends to pick on the"low hanging fruit" and point at the means of delivery, rather than the perpetrator.
