Police call deadly Santa Barbara shooting spree 'premeditated mass murder'[W220]

Now it's confirmed that Peter Rodger, who was an assistant director on "The Hunger Games" film series, is the father of the deranged rampage killer who drove a black BMW during the shooting. According to AP news, the shooter's father had called police several weeks ago before the shooting rampage. The police did interview the shooter and let this murderous rampage proceed, apparently:

Attorney: son suspected in shooting rampage

Anybody watching the Youtube video knows that this psychopath is a pending disaster waiting to happen. Why does police always failed the public?

The police did not fail us. They aren't magical beasts keeping us safe from every threat. They are constrained and restricted in the actions they can take. That's it.

It's stupid to call the police in this case and imagine that it would all be taken care of. The father could have tried other things once the police could do nothing...you know, do a bit of parenting. Calling the cops on your kid is not enough.

Another mass killing by a mentally deranged young man in a drive by shooting at Santa Barbara:

Gunman, six others killed in drive-by shooting, Santa Barbara police say | Fox News

This psychopathic guy posted a creepy Youtube video complaining about being still a virgin at 22 yr old and hating all the blonde beautiful women he couldn't get and all sexually active men who had all the women they want for sex. For that he went on a killing rampage the next day? What's going on mentally with the young men of American society?

Somebody is watching too much CNN without a bull**** filter.

No matter who they call, the buck stops with the parents.

He was a good looking kid and had plenty of money so why couldn't he get laid is the $64 question.

Seriously?

You are going to blame the system and not just the parents?

When something is wrong with your kids, you keep pushing until something is done.

My initial impression is that he was a spoiled little rich boy who probably had minimal parental discipline.

Am I missing something in your comments?

Probably, yeah. I suppose that's my fault, as communication is sender-dependent.

I'm not saying that the po-po should have locked him up on suspicion.

I'm saying the way we do mental health issues is messed up from the get go. Sounds like this guy was in bad need of counseling and not just recently... probably should have been evident to someone close to him five years ago. A good shrink could maybe have realized he was a potential danger and possibly had some kind of action taken.

Or maybe not. It isn't a perfect world and **** happens.

Well it appears obvious now that he had the social skills of mongoose.

Only on rare occasions it seems, if that.

When one has looks and money, but is incapable of any human interaction, then their goose is cooked.

It is the same old "why didn't someone take action before this escalated". Hindsight is golden but how many of you know people that seem just a little too tightly wound and crazy but go on to old age and die without ever harming someone? It is just a tough call.

We are never 100% safe. Even if every one of those victims had a gun themselves it would not have decreased the killing most likely.

Exactly why I personally arm myself daily.

Yikes!

That's bad on a whole lotta levels.

But that seems to be what some people want and expect; the government to solve any and all problems. There's very little consideration towards personal responsibility these days.

America is the single most developed country in the filed of of gun deaths....

Three of the victims were apparently stabbed to death, but then that's probably the NRA's fault, too.

Re: http://www.foxnews.com/us/2014/05/24/at-least-3-dead-in-shootings-in-santa-barbar

I give it 48 hours before one of these groups posts a pity party about how sad it is that this man was so maligned by wicked women who didn't feel obligated to sleep with him.

From the little I've read about this guy, he was enraged at seeing so many women with "obnoxious brutes", while his attempts to woo women by being a typical "nice guy" beta male got him nowhere. It's a lesson every guy learns at some point in his life. This doesn't in anyway justify his actions, of course. But to paraphrase a line in the film Apocalypse Now, every man has a breaking point, and this guy reached his.

This little asshole seems to feel that he was entitled to female attention based on something (what, I don't know or much care), and he didn't get it, so he used that as self-justification to go on a murderous rampage. Not an ounce of sympathy from me for the self-entitled little bastard.

Six people dead is "mass murder"?

From this perspective this is just another week end in America.

How many in Calgary? Or is it not mass murder when it's a knife instead of a gun.

No, not everyone has a point at which they go into a mass murdering rage. Hell, it wasn't even a rage. He planned it. Normal people never, ever get to that point for any reason, let alone something as trivial as not getting their dick wet on demand.

Plenty of nice guys get dates. Just about every guy I've ever dated, for example, who range in looks, as far as society is concerned, between a 2 and a 10.

This has nothing to do with "poor rejected nice guys." People don't go from being nice human beings to shooting up a bunch of college kids. This guy was a psycho from the start. Even his parents knew it, which is why they called the cops on him. And I'm sure women knew it too, which is why he never got any dates. You think most women can't smell crazy?

"Nice guys" don't have the cops called on them by their own parents because said parents think they're potentially violent and insane.

This is what I mean about MRA's trying to justify this **** -- poor rejected "nice guy" just couldn't take it anymore. It's basically saying, "You better sleep with whatever guy is demanding it or he'll kill you, because that's what nice guys do when they don't get what they want." Are you out of your mind?

This is why MRA groups are a breeding ground for violent psychos. It's never the psycho's fault to them. You can say you're not excusing it all you like, but you are, because you're saying he had an understandable reason for killing a bunch of random women. He didn't. He's a psycho.

The common problem with MRA groups is that men with issues within themselves want to look everywhere except at themselves for the source of their social and romantic problems, despite other guys who are more "beta" or less "attractive" than they are managing to do just fine with women. The problem is you. No one else.

Someone should have just bought this little a hole a hooker.

Freaking nutcase.

If there's anything funny at all about this situation, it's that the kid died a virgin.

You are entitled to your opinion but I certainly disagree.

This guy had made and posted several Youtube videos several weeks prior to the shooting rampage whining and ranting about wanting to annihilate women and men and the police interviewed him but quickly find nothing wrong?

The threat in the videos alone should warrant some action on the part of the police no matter the failure of the parents' action which is a whole different issue altogether.

How about the police doing further in depth investigation? Such as getting the parents to search the house and his room for weapons or run a check to see if there is any record of him buying fire weapons instead of just claiming he had no history of gun possession? Or perhaps let the state psychiatrists or psychologists take a look at those chilling videos before committing the guy in mental ward for observation?

The police claimed they didn't find he had history of gun possession is simply not true because he purchased those weapons legally. And if the police had kept up with him they would have found the records:

Sheriff: Calif. gunman killed 3 people at home

Deputies found three semi-automatic handguns with 400 unspent rounds in his black BMW. All were purchased legally.

But now we heard that this wasn't the first time the police had dealing with him:

Sheriff: Calif. gunman killed 3 people at home

Authorities had had three contacts with Rodgers in the past year, including one case in which he claimed to be beaten but deputies suspected he was the aggressor.

Even if the police are restricted to do anything for the time being they should have keep an eye on him on the Youtube account that he posted his previous videos. If the police had kept a tab on him on the Youtube, they would not have missed the last video which he made his specific threat to go on the killing spree on the next day.

I guess that may not be a specific threat enough for you to warrant some police action but I digress.

People do plenty of stupid crap because of relationships problem, but there is absolutely no point where normal people get rejected too much and starting murdering people. I really hope the fact you are defending a mass murderer might make you wake up and realize just how destructive your attitude is.
