Town's White Police Official Calls Obama N-Word [W:301]

My use of the word "overcrowding" was facetious, but the point is, more adult workers in a house means more household income. Greater household income is the result of larger households and not the result of individuals members of the household earning more

More household income means a bit more than that; these households have more married parents, better rates of higher education, lower rates of crime and less use of public assistance. They are the Jones. ;)

Again, those are commendable. However, citing their higher household income as a measure of success is misleading

That is not the only measure of success but it is not "cheating" to live with your extended family. They seem to do so not out of necessity but to use the opportunity for educational and career development.

Asian Americans are the highest-income, best-educated and fastest-growing racial group in the United States. They are more satisfied than the general public with their lives, finances and the direction of the country, and they place more value than other Americans do on marriage, parenthood, hard work and career success, according to a comprehensive new nationwide survey by the Pew Research Center.

I didn't say it's cheating. Nothing wrong with it if that's how you want to live. However, it does skew household income in their favor.

Yep, but compared to other immigrant groups, with nearly the same househild size "advantage", they really seem to stand out. The .49 person "advantage" in average household size over Hispanic Americans is not responsible for their much larger household income.

There are many differences. All I'm saying is that household income, by itself, is not a good measure.

I agree and have pointed out many other factors that set Asian Americans apart from other subsets of our population.

The difference is cultural. They strongly believe in education and being the best you can be. It has nothing to do with overcrowding but with the closeness of family members.

What would you call a US racial/ethnic minority group that leads the list for household income? After all, white folks are all immigrants to the US too. So far, it seems that you have introduced and defended the term "model minority" not I. I simply stated that whites are not the top earning immigrant group in the US. - that title goes to the Asian Americans, at present. You were the one that decided that "most" whites benefit from white privilege even though more whites than blacks are poor in the US.
If you think my posts have defended the term "model minority", you don't read well. What YOU are invoking is the model minority stereotype of Asian Americans - a stereotype that is primarily perpetuated by whites and is ultimately a myth - a myth that many Asian Americans reject because of how inaccurate it is and how much it harms them and other people of color. I suspect that you know you're invoking this myth which means that if you continue to play dumb, I'm not going continue this interaction. Playing dumb is disrespectful.

And no, I did not decide that "most" whites benefit from white privilege. ALL WHITE AMERICANS - every single one - benefits from white privilege and the fact that you think that poor white people negates that fact demonstrates that you don't even know what the term "white privilege" actually means. White privilege refers to racial privilege and it coexists with CLASS privilege, GENDER privilege and other types of privilege. All these types of privilege intersect. So, for example, a straight poor white female enjoys heterosexual and white privilege, but suffers from class and gender disadvantage. A gay rich black man enjoys male and class privilege, but suffers from racial and sexuality-based disadvantage. How each aspect of these two people's identities affects their lives depends on a variety of factors.

Again you use two conflicting arguments; 1) that race/gender confers some universal +/- status to each and every member of that group and 2) that many individuals do not get that +/- status because of some offsetting factors (e.g they are gay).

Demonstrate to me that you see yourself as a member of a system that favors whiteness and I'll do that.

So you can't articulate these powers you claim I have....I have to "demonstrate" that I agree with you?

Nope. You said I have powers; what are they?

We all know that women are gifted with many powers, but they have nothing to do with the color of their skin.
