Judicial Watch: New Documents Show IRS HQ Control of Tea Party Targeting

nothing directly says

"we got to stop these groups in order to have a chance this november"

if any of those emails said that, it would show the proper motivation.

all i read is that levin is asking for scrutiny.

That's not true and it doesn't have to outright say we got to stop those groups......the way Levin was worded concerning Haley Barbour is proof of that.....perhaps you should read up on procedure for FBI in the Investigating witnesses part.

Moreover its a mute point now with Cummings the Chair getting busted out from his own words and denying there was ever any contact.

maybe the contact is not as sinister as alarmists claim to be?

“In the fall of 2012, True the Vote received a series of letters — eight, nine, 10 page letters from Elijah Cummings out of the blue, conducting what he claimed was ‘his investigation of True the Vote,’” she continued. “Now mind you, the jurisdiction of the House Oversight & Government Reform Committee is federal agencies. It is not private citizens’ groups in Houston, Texas.

Congressman Cummings sent this series of letters demanding all this material and information from True the Vote. This went on for several months, and then he would get on national TV, MSNBC of course, and before the letters had been received by True the Vote he’d be waving these letters around and that he’s conducting an investigation, which of course he has no authority under the House rules to do.”.....snip~

Post 103. ;)

On May 21, 2013 the National Republican Senatorial Committee sent the IRS a Freedom of Information Act request asking for "any and all documents or records, including but not limited to electronic documents, e-mails, paper documents, photographs (electronic or hard copy), or audio files," related to correspondence from January 1, 2009 and May 21, 2013 between thirteen different Democrat members of Congress and top IRS officials. Those officials include former IRS Commissioner Doug Shulman, former Commissioner Steven Miller, senior IRS official Joseph Grant and former head of tax exempt groups Lois Lerner. Members of Congress named in the request include Sen. Schumer (D-NY), Sen. Reid (D-NV), DSCC Chair Sen. Bennet (D-CO), Sen. Landrieu (D-LA), Sen. Pryor (D-AR), Sen. Hagan (D-NC), Sen. Begich (D-AK), Sen. Shaheen (D-NH), Sen. Mark Udall (D-CO), Sen. Franken (D-MN), Sen. Warner (D-VA), Rep. Braley and Rep. Peters (D-MI).

Since that request was received by the IRS nearly one year ago, IRS Tax Law Specialists Robert Thomas and Denise Higley have asked for more time to fulfill the request six times.

Earlier this week Judicial Watch released documents showing Democratic Michigan Senator Carl Levin was in contact with former Deputy IRS Commissioner Steven Miller repeatedly throughout 2012 and was working with the agency on how conservative groups, specifically those working against his reelection, could be targeted through IRS rules and regulations. Last month we learned the staff of Ranking Member of the House Oversight Committee Elijah Cummings had been in touch with the IRS about voter fraud prevention group True the Vote, despite direct denials from Cummings any contact with the IRS had ever occurred......snip~

You were saying something now about alarmists?

That email was from 2010 !!!!!
When the TP(ies) were new and before they shook up DC.
The Obama/IRS scandals started after they had the crap scared out of 'em by the TP(ies).
Since TP(ies) don't all have the words Tea Party in their names, Obama and his boys & girls had to suggest ways to identify 'em and stop 'em.
And that's what they did.
That makes that email an irrelevant distraction.
Let me set you straight, there is no Obama/IRS scandal and the following USA news article proves it. Seriously, you need to stick to your PhotoShop doings, at least they are entertaining.

Heya PB......here let help with the bubble.

Cleta Mitchell, who is representing True the Vote, has filed an ethics probe against Elijah Cummings on February 6th with the Office of Congressional Ethics . Last fall, True the Vote started receiving 8 and 9 page letters from Cummings, claiming he was conducting an investigation of their organization as part of the House Oversight Committee. One problem. The House Oversight Committee is only allowed to investigate government agencies. Going after a private citizen is illegal.

Mitchell wants to find out if Cummings is responsible in part or completely for the harassment of Catherine Engelbrecht, founder of True the Vote. After Cummings launched his “investigation” , Engelbrecht had her business audited twice, her personal taxes once, two visits from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, a surprise visit from OSHA, seven visits from the FBI.

Last week, emails were released to the committee that showed that Cummings was working with Lois Lerner, which is why he attempted to scuttle the investigation into the IRS, immediately as soon as it was announced.

Cleta Mitchell is turning up the heat with her public statements such as:....snip~

Where is the email that a IRS offical wrote "the boss wants us to screw these groups over"? That would convincing be evidence

OK, I have given you more lee way than I would most,...we are done here.

Please read the stuff you have posted and see where the email clearly states they are targeting Tea Party organizations.

THAT is an admission of the corruption.

So thank you for continuing to prove the White House is not only lying, but the lemmings protecting the president cannot debate on fast but must at all times resort to insult an innuendo..got here late indeed...

what an elitist, arrogant and useless post.

I don't know.

If you are aware of one then I suggest you post it.

Otherwise please present your straw men to someone who gives a ****.

Do not reply to this, it is your time wasted....you have nothing of value to contribute

These liberals are simply evil, and highly unamerican. The very same people went ape **** over supposed outing of a non secret agent. With less than we have here, and now there is "no scandal"? Good grief!

That's a lie^^^^^

A few months later, in August, Cummings contacted the IRS to notify the agency that his own staff was planning to investigate the organization. On October 4, 2012, his office sent the first of a series of letters to True the Vote requesting information about its activities. Cummings was concerned that the group was engaging in voter intimidation and partisan activities, such as making a $5,000 donation to the Republican State Leadership Committee. Cummings asked the IRS for "publicly available information" about the group in January 2013.

You know, since you liberals insist on massive government, the least you can do is insist that this massive government be as free from corruption and mismanagement and wastefulness as possible. A 'good' liberal (if there is such a thing) would be outraged at even a whiff of scandal coming from an agency as powerful and fearsome as the IRS. 'Bad' liberals lift the rug so that the corruption can be swept underneath.

Yeah F&L.....PB thinks that one piece he has changes up any of the truth.....despite his looking to tangent off what the rest of the Media is saying other than ABC, CBS and NBC TV. Who got occupied over some news that you can't use......and of Course Hollyweird and its entertainers. Notice even though all other pieces tie in and his only explains one very small sliver, which don't mean much.

We now have the DOJ playing games over Congressional members and what they were suppose to release. Plus now we have Cummings getting ready to be hit with an ethics investigation.

Bozell: Broadcast Networks 'Allergic to the Truth About the IRS Scandal'.....

The full press release:

RESTON, Va. – Yesterday, Judicial Watch released a new batch of IRS documents that showed “extensive pressure on the IRS by Senator Carl Levin (D-MI) to shut down conservative leaning organizations.” According to an analysis from the Media Research Center, ABC, CBS, and NBC responded with exactly ZERO seconds of network news coverage. The released documents also revealed the IRS’s handling of the Tea Party applications was directed out of the agency’s DC headquarters, contrary to initial claims that blamed low-level officials in Cincinnati.

In the year since the scandal broke, numerous major developments have gone completely unreported by the Big Three. Examples include:

• On August 2, FoxNews.com reported that House Oversight chairman Darrell Issa had accused acting IRS Commissioner Danny Werfel of blocking the committee’s investigation. Network coverage: Zero.
• On September 4, CNN’s Drew Griffin reported that documents showed Lerner’s original story blaming low-level employees was a lie.Network coverage: Zero.
• On September 11, 2013 the Wall Street Journal exhibited how Lerner’s own e-mails implied a liberal political agenda at work. Network coverage: Zero.
• On September 18, 2013, a front-page analysis published by USA Today confirmed the targeting of conservatives. ZERO seconds of coverage.
• At the end of March 2014, the New York Times noted that the House committee was still being frustrated by non-cooperation from the IRS. Network coverage: Zero.
• And, an April 7, 2014 staff report by the House Oversight and Government Reform committee thoroughly demolished what remained of the notion that both sides had been targeted. Network coverage: Zero.
• Finally on May 7, 2014, The House of Representatives voted to hold disgraced IRS bureaucrat Lois Lerner in contempt of Congress. Total network coverage? 15 seconds on Good Morning America. Zero on CBS and NBC.

See that's where many on the left get confused over.....the issue of those not giving coverage. That it means it isn't real and can be played with by the left's Direct Media sources.

Which is why you see them try to avoid anything else put out.

I really do not give any credence to what PB says on this issue....or any other for that matter.

There is no issue on which the defenders of Obama have ever stood and fought on its merits, but demean the messenger...today alone I have been told "you obviously hate Obama because he is black" and put up with the snide insults of ideologues who can't read and think demeaning the individual will somehow sway public opinion to their side.

For them the details, facts, are irrelevant just make the accuser look bad, imply he is stupid as is the case with everyone of replies. If they can shift the argument to one of personalities they deflect from the fact Obama is in this up to his little pen and his phone.

It is no longer about the facts, Obama blew that out of the water with "I never said that" while the fawning MSM was proving he had, at least 40 times; it is about creating demons that look worse than your guy, hence the obsession with Palin et al. It is about blame shifting, Bush started it, and about yelling "jihadist" and "traitor' at those who disagree with you and above all...above everything else about deflecting the issue...

So much so in this case we have even forgotten that the scandal was triggered by Lois Lerner volunteering the information at a lawyers conference....with that as a backdrop it is very hard to not laugh at thier sick and feeble attempts now to claim it never happened.

the only thing that the emails say is that the groups were specifically targeted.

what is not admitted is the motivation for doing so.

And that's your big doo doo?

They were targeted along partisan lines......

That IS the issue......

I kind of think that's nuance free....although in Obamaland anything's possible.

Considering the snide bull**** you put out as commentary that takes the cake.

it was a honest question. why is being called "mainstream media" a bad thing? what is the alternative to something mainstream?

Lerner knew what she had done was wrong, and that she was going to be found out. Its also why she's pleaded the 5th.

And yet the left claims its a false scandal. They are about to get a dose of reality.

Transcripts show IRS agents in Cincinnati -- not Washington -- flagged Tea Party cases

Right Here PB......that don't do anything over the issue with Mitchell. As she testified to.

The administration has claimed from the beginning that any special attention give Tea Party groups and other conservative organizations came strictly at the direction of people in the Cincinnati office, and was in no way directed by anyone in Washington.

That was always hard to believe, but now we’re seeing clearer evidence that it was a lie. The latest testimony comes from IRS attorney Cleta Mitchell, who says very clearly that she talked to people in Cincinnati and they weren’t running the show.

I never heard from Cincinnati,” Mitchell said. “We only dealt with Washington.”.....snip~
