Rams select Michael Sam, NFL's first openly gay player [W:282]

We need to get off the subject of Tebow and back to the OP.

My last post on Tebow - he was one hell of a college player. Not fit for the NFL. Then again, neither were Matt Leinart and Tim Brown and Rocket Ishmael and Rodney Hampton....

Rodney Hampton? What was wrong with Rodney Hampton?

And Tim Brown? Tim Brown's going to be in the Hall of Fame.

Rocket Ismail screwed himself by going to Canada. Matt Leinart just blows.

1.) but it does, reality does make it matter, it forces it to matter, bigotry, hate and rampant history of discrimaintion makes it matter
2.) factually false considering #1. again reality makes it matter.
3.) nope SOME of the people are supporting the advancement of equality and ability for it to start not to matter and some do not. Nothing bigoted about that per the definition of the word. Now if a person wanted him to get drafted ONLY because he was gay that would be bigoted but thats not the case with the news and majority of supporters.
4.) again also false unless it fits the very small example above.

It would only be bad and bigoted if it fir that example

The news was the draft. It's about football skills, that's it. Sexuality plays no part in the sport. I have never seen anyone getting it on in the endzone (no pun intended) nor on the fifty yard line. The NFL draft is no place for gay advancement agendas, that inho belongs in the policy making quarters of society. Football is a family entertainment venue and all political agendas should be outside that realm. So you may consider touting sexuality issues in an adult only policy venue.

1.) and normal draft news i going on as usual that hasnt changes.
but what is ALSO news is a person, the first person ever was able to over come the discrimination, bigotry, hate and stereotypical boundaries that reality/history has in place and that is going to be news in itself whtether you like it or not. Again facts and reality make it that way.
2.) correct this is why bigots should stop saying he is going to suck only because he is gay, he may suck, he may be great but it wont be because of his sexuality.
3.) also correct thats why the stories arent about sexuality and the sport but sexuality and the accomplishment/barriers over come.
4.) ok thanks for the meaningless point lol
5.) also correct and its not an AGENDA (thats just dumb) its just a FACT that this barrier was over come and sports IS society
6.) and it still is and equal rights is a win for family
7.) correct ans this is why there should be equality in the NFL just like everywhere hopefully we get there soon
8.) no need because equality effects us all and sexuality has been in the NFL for ever.

so again no bigotry here except for those against equality

Rodney Hampton sucked. Ugh.

Tim Brown wasn't as good as they said he was going to be.

Two more names - Vinny Testaverde and Doug Flutie.

another dodge!
lets try AGAIN

are there other Christians in the NFL? its a very simple question why wont you answer it?

heres some more questions:
are the majority of NFL players, owners, employees christian?
are the majority of NFL fans christian?

are the majority of NFL players, owners, employees gay?
are the majority of NFL fans gay?

how many players/owners have been outed, fired, teased, ridiculed, denied jobs for being gay/Christian?

any comparasion to Tebo and mik

Was Tebow's religion discussed ad nauseum or not? The other questions you're asking have nothing to do with that.

Tebow isn't gay, you do know that I assume?

Translation: you wont answer because the answer (like multiple posters have already done) destroys your factually false and failed statement . Thank you for further proving my point.
Let us know when you are ready to answer the questions, stay on topic and admit the truth.

I think this is really going to change football. I was talking to a co worker who coached little league football at one time. He told me some of the parents are really far out. He said this one guy got mad at his son for messing up and called the kid a "little faggot." Damn!

So this will really impact the game. Actually, it will be interesting to see if this has any effect on the brutal character of the game. Perhaps as the game starts to become more empathetic to unnecessary human pain and suffering, perhaps the game itself will change. For example, some of the brutal methods of hitting may be outlawed.

Just some thoughts.

The question about how many NFL team owners are gay has nothing to do with Tim Tebow.

Who is "us"? Do you have people reading over your shoulder?

After they replaced Tebow with Manning, they were in the Super Bowl within two years.

kurtWarner_vmed_latest+(9).jpg

Anyone would have taken Manning. That is not the issue.
And like I said, Warner had been in the league, gone, off the other leagues, and back to the NFL. His story was well known. Tebow was bashed right out of college.

In order for me to buy your version of reality, you'll have to prove that homosexuality issues have ever caused discriminatory practices in the NFL. Do you have an article or case that says gay football players were not allowed to play in the past because of their sexuality. If you got nothing... then you got nothing here either.

Who is "we"?

The man's name is Tebow, not Tebo.

What do the sexual preferences of NFL fans have to do with Tebow?

Rodney Hampton sucked. Ugh.

Five straight 1,000-yard seasons before he hit the 1,500-carry plateau* and started getting hurt all the time. Low YPC guy, but he was a pile mover.

Tim Brown wasn't as good as they said he was going to be.

He made the Pro Bowl 9 times, his career Approximate Value (as per profootball-reference.com) is 145, good for 66th all-time. And he was an awesome punt returner. I'm not sure who "they" are and how good they said Tim Brown was going to be, but Brown was absolutely awesome.

Two more names - Vinny Testaverde and Doug Flutie.

Testaverde kinda got thrown to the wolves on a terrible Buccaneers team, and because of his late start (he was a rookie at 24) and criminal lack of support from the Bucs and Browns, he was 32 before he was worth a damn. The Browns first year as the Ravens, he threw 33 TDs to 19 picks. And he had one VERY good year with the Jets. He was never great, but he was always OK enough to justify employing him.

Flutie got screwed. Nobody would give him a chance to play because he was too small. When he came back to the NFL, he led my Bills to the playoffs twice. And then got benched for Rob Johnson in the playoffs. We all know how that worked out. :2bigcry:

* -- Generally speaking, I give most running backs about 1,500 carries before they start running out of gas. The guys who don't are the ones who are truly special.

And like I said, Warner had been in the league, gone, off the other leagues, and back to the NFL. His story was well known. Tebow was bashed right out of college.

Because of the relentless hype.

Broncos-Bears, during that 9-2 run the Broncos had. Matt Prater kicks a 50-something-yard field goal to put the game into OT. Marion Barber fumbles on the Broncos' 35, and Tebow proceeds to drive the Broncos about 20 whole yards in about 9 plays before Prater makes another bomb to win the game.

Headline on ESPN.com that day? "Tebow Works Miracle" or some bull**** like that. Tebow had about as much to do with winning that game as I did.

I'm a lifelong Giants fan. No self respecting Giants fan thinks Hampton lived up to expectations. :2mad:

I loved Testaverde. Flutie I just resented because Kosar should have won the Heisman that year.

I don't listen to a lot of NFL shows, so maybe I'm wrong but I think Tebow hate wasn't due to be Christian, but how much the media rode how great he was and how he was such a great guy because he was a Christian. Combined with a ton of hype.

If I recall Warner and Ray Lewis were pretty religious and no-one cared.

Flutie won the Heisman because of one play.

LMAO its not "my" version its the facts, nobody honest and educated would ever say gays have equal rights in this country and arent discriminated against. There have even been reports of players having issues when there were RUMORS of them being gay and just recently people have commented on how a gay player would upset the chemistry of the team, google is your friend, also check out real sports

denying these facts just further shows how quickly your argument fails

BAM dodged AGAIN lol

we is the multiple posters that proved your statement wrong
why don't you answer the questions? its because they prove you factually wrong.

let us know when you can support your failed and destroyed claims thank you. who wants to bet the questions are dodged again?

Now your changing what I said. I did not claim that there was not discrimination in this country. I said an example of the nfl discriminating against players. We had agreed on a previous thread that no one can control an individuals thoughts, therefore I'm looking for league actions. You claimed that the sexuality of this guy was important in this venue in order to overcome discrimination. I'm asking you to tell me what needs to be overcome. specifically what league policy or act needs overcoming? Now if you got nothing, then I cannot accept that sexuality issues have a place in the NFL draft coverage.

1.) i didnt change ANYTHING of what you said, i simply stuck to what i have been saying and what the reality is. nice try though.
2.) and i told you where to look, Google is your friend for fast results look to the gay NFL players that came out AFTER they retired or couldnt play anymore, start there ;)
but REGARDLESS of your concerns, they dont changes facts and reality.
3.) i agree and if thats what you want go look for it in the places i suggested im not doing it for you because teaching you reality is of no interest to me. You could go on believing gay in the NFL isnt an issue and never was, it wont change the facts at all.
4.) again this isnt my calim its reality and facts. I dont have an articles on hand about women either bit when one becomes president that will factually be a mile stone and a overcoming od discrimaintion lol
5.) and i have already answered. Reality. I didnt say there was a policy please try to stay on topic and not make up failed strawmen it only worsens your unsupportable claims lol
6.) you dont have to accept facts, they exist without you, this is another fact you dont understand lol even NFL members disagree with you, that alone proves you wrong.

It's not a league policy, it's the mindset of the players. There's no rule against NFL players being gay and there never was. Acceptance by one's teammates (and the organizations themselves) is the issue.

If that's the issue, how, pray tell, does sexuality within draft coverage have anything to do with that? Acceptance will be had on the feild with tackles, sacks and interceptions. It's football. That's it.
