Climate change is here and action needed now, new White House report says[W:46]

Re: Climate change is here and action needed now, new White House report says

no you linked an alarmist site to try and prove my source wrong. yes that is called pot meet kettle.

you use peer reviewed papers by people that believe in global warming and are the same people that peer review the same papers.
umm this is what we call a conflict of interest.

Global Temperature Trends Since 2500 B.C.

Some Global Warming Q&A To Consider in Light of the EPA Ruling « Roy Spencer, PhD

if you actually look at real data charts and not those politcal charts by the IPCC you can clearly see warm and cold periods that
happen in cycles.

both sites from climatologist and one a former NASA scientist so why does their information match observed and the IPCC is so far off that only 3 models they have were remotely correct?

No, I've linked many sites, mostly mainstream.

I've learned on the Internet you can find anyone who'll say anything. Your side needs to stop trying to find fringe individuals and match true scientific communities that actually disagree. In the past, much of your sides efforts to that have proven to be false, debunked by the scientists your side has quoted as disagreeing. This tenancy to mislead puts everything your side throws up in question. You use sites like Forbes, sites that have nothing to do with science. There's likely a reason for that.

Re: Climate change is here and action needed now, new White House report says

It's not a secret: climate scientists agree that climate-warming trends over the past century are very likely due to human activities,1and most of the leading scientific organizations worldwide have issued public statements endorsing this position. The following is a partial list of these organizations, along with links to their published statements and a selection of related resources.

LOL fringe individuals that not only worked for nasa but are climatologist and experts in their field. since all you can do is ad hominem instead of actually address the facts of the article you lose.

climate data or whatever it has nothing to do with science either it is a alarmist conspiracy site.
forbes has way more credibility than climate data does. your is nothing but an alarmist site forbes is an world wide recognized magazine on a host of topics and other links contain people that are actual climate scientist one of which worked for nasa.

so my sources are just as good as yours. the only difference is that your ideology won't allow you to see anything but what someone tells you.

LOL. :lamo:lamo

The New American?

And I Rabin across this: The paper was written for Principia Scientific International (PSI) which tries to pass itself off as a scientific organisation. It isn’t. It’s a UK based publicity business owned by shareholders.

I did run across this and thought I'd share:

Thus although our results were straightforward and consistent with previous research, we were not surprised when they met with resistance from certain groups, and anticipated the critiques with an FAQ. However, in reviewing the various criticisms of our paper, we noticed some common threads amongst them. A 2009 paper published in the European Journal of Public Health by Pascal Diethelm and Martin McKee discussed five characteristics common to scientific denialism:

1) Cherry picking;
2) Fake experts;
3) Misrepresentation and logical fallacies.
4) Impossible expectations of what research can deliver; and
5) Conspiracy theories;

Re: Climate change is here and action needed now, new White House report says

Again, either you accept science or you don't. That's the issue here.

and there we se the unvarnished problem.

Coupled with the lecture on authority we have the black and white, you either agree or you are a "denier".

News flash, "science" makes mistakes, it is not a benign god, but a corruption ridden cesspool of greed and ego like every other institution on the face of the earth. Knowledge is not authority, credibility is....being right.

So far there has been far, far too little of that and far too much shouting down of anyone who doubts, in which case the tendency to lend authority is with the doubter.

Never said it didn't make mistakes. I said it was the best information available. No one be expected to treat the guesses, the opinions, the beliefs of the novice over the scientific community. Instead, there has to be actual, accepted scientific evidence to the contrary and the the shell game deniers are too often playing.

Re: Climate change is here and action needed now, new White House report says

Co2 is a green house gas and does trap heat. it is also toxic to breathe.
man does produce co2 but only a very very small amount of it compared to nature. according to the IPCC man only contributes 3-5% of the total co2 produced in a year.
they were forced to admit it in a congressional hearing.

the argument is if what man produces is enough to cause the entire devastation that alarmist harp on about. the answer is clearly no.
there is something else that drives hot and cold cycles besides a gas that makes up less than 1% of our entire atmosphere.

The amount of greenhouse gasses put into the atmosphere by a single volcano dwarfs the entire human output. Know how many volcanoes erupt every single years? An average of 50. Try again.

What if I told you your little factoid was not true?

Would you reconsider the source of the 'fact' as deliberately lying to you to tell you things that would make you propagate incorrect understanding of the issue? Or would you just dismiss it as an innocent mistake and slurp up more 'facts' from the source?

Because volcanos emit much, much less CO2 than man. In fact, its about 1%of what man emits.

Which produces more CO2, volcanic or human activity?

Want that in a pretty picture?

"Very likely due"? That hardly seems like settled science and, until it is, we should just accept that it is still under study.

Settled enough.

The study examined almost twelve thousand abstracts of scientific articles published between 1991 and 2011 on the topics "global climate change" or "global warming," and found that "66.4% of abstracts expressed no position on AGW, 32.6% endorsed AGW, 0.7% rejected AGW and 0.3% were uncertain about the cause of global warming. Among abstracts expressing a position on AGW, 97.1% endorsed the consensus position that humans are causing global warming."

The study confirmed, as well as refined and extended, previous work by Naomi Oreskes and James Lawrence Powell investigating the consensus in the scientific literature; it is also consistent with surveys of climate scientists, such as William R. L. Anderegg, James W. Prall, Jacob Harold, and Stephen H. Schneider's paper (in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences 2011), that show a similar percentage accepting the consensus position.

Science is never complete.

Re: Climate change is here and action needed now, new White House report says

You know that 53% of the respondAnts to that were not scientists! right?

Well, I know you didn't read the abstract, and clearly didn't see the paper.

But I'm not surprised.

Oh, you are right, I made a mistake. Might as well say 97-98% of career criminals prefer lower prison sentences.

Nice cover.

Why don't you read some science before you pretend to be able to critique it?

Then post some science... That's an opinion survey that seems to be based on published papers, and not actual conversations.

I would like to see the actual procedure here, I'm surprised they didn't just claim 100%? The Eco-fascists have a track record for rationally addressing criticisms.

It's especially funny when the data hasn't matched the hypothesis for, and I've been corrected, 18 years now. It's funny though because these delusional morons actually expect people to believe their new definition of science where the hypothesis failing is only further proof that the hypothesis is correct.

Published papers are the conversation.

Published papers are the conversation.

Yes, and 97-98% of lemmings believe walking over a cliff is fine because the one in front did it.

I'll stop being subtle, this entire position is an appeal to authority fallacy.

Again, that's not how that fallacy works. It would nice to see it used properly. If you need me to post it again, I will. But you're are incorrectly calling this a fallacy. It is proper to use actual experts in a field. Not a fallacy.

Re: Climate change is here and action needed now, new White House report says

No j, it isn't. And that's the problem you guys have. Why those less extreme see your side as anti science.

Childish tantrums, and name calling doesn't make the lemmings on your side "less extreme" just misguided, and easily duped.

Re: Climate change is here and action needed now, new White House report says

Yep. Fringe individuals.

And no, your sources are not as good.

you might want to check your own i didn't think alarmists sites were considered valid but i guess if it agrees with you then alarmists sites are perfectly fine.

while i didn't know real climate scientists and nasa engineers weren't good sources. if that is the case then your sources are even worse since your sources maniplutate data, lie, and all around try to stifle any opposition to their political agenda.

what is worse your main source the IPCC isn't even run by a climatologist. it is run by an industrial engineer and a economist. who by chance is heavily invested in green carbon trading companies.

yep no conflict of interest there.

who also by the way was busted for not using peer reviewed papers in a report.

i think you need to clean your sources up a bit before critizing someone elses.
