Climate change is here and action needed now, new White House report says[W:46]

Here's a clue, guy: when one gallon of gas (which weighs less than ten pounds) is burned, it generates about 20 pounds of CO2 into the atmosphere. There's about a half billion cars operating in the world today, and if each one uses about a ten-gallon tank of gas per week (and I think I'm being conservative on that one), do the math - that's about 100 billion pounds of CO2 added to our atmosphere.

Per week.

From cars alone, not counting what comes from factories, power plants, ships, trains, planes, and the methane from cattle. Add to that all the deforestation that's taken place over the past couple centuries - which detracts from our planet's ability to absorb the CO2...

...and frankly, guy, I would say the onus is on AGW deniers to prove that what we're adding to the atmosphere does not cause global warming. 97% of climate scientists are satisfied that it's proven, every single national science foundation on the planet are satisfied that it's proven, 90% of all other scientists are satisfied that it's proven...and every single alternate excuse offered by the AGW deniers has been handily disproved and debunked.

But I guess I'm just wasting my time, since it's SO much more important to the Big Oil-funded Right to protect their Big Oil sugar daddy than it is to listen to the overwhelming majority of the scientific community - most of which gets NO additional funding because of their research into AGW.

Yes, Big Oil bought me off. I get a free car wash after every ten visits.

Re: Climate change is here and action needed now, new White House report says

Yes, that "near universally' is the troubling part which, in laymen's terms, means nobody knows with any certainty. It appears to be a conflict between religion and science.

Believe whatever you want but please don't ask the taxpayers to pay for your unsubstantiated (and rather goofy) beliefs.

Well, the science is on my side. That you choose put your "faith" above science is your concern.

Re: Climate change is here and action needed now, new White House report says

I don't need to look at it again. That chart is a list of forcings for air temperature, the energy trapped by black carbon that melts snow does not contribute to the air temperature.

You have any pictures to prove that? Or maybe an article on 17th century men's winter wear?

... not sure if serious.

Science is not a democracy where you can vote for the truth.

No one said it was. That trick of yours there doesn't work. But when the vast majority if scientist do and review the science and say it's sound, and reach overwhelming consensus, it isn't a vote, it's considered the accepted facts. It's the best information available.

Trick???

It is not the best information available and the science is not near conclusive.

Believe in whatever religion you choose but don't expect others to follow like sheep into your pre-Galileo world of 'science'.

The science is and it is the best information available. Again, the debate is only in the head of nonscientists. Not scientist of any significant number.

That's not true. The number of "skeptic scientists" are growing in numbers. You aren't made aware of that because those you believe (who are paid handsomely by their governments to produce the findings they desire) are doing everything to silence them.

Check out the headlines this morning at Drudge. Their main story today is about the front page story in the UK Times.

bengtsson_frontpage.jpg

These so called scientists you put your faith in have been caught in a cover-up of other scientists' research that casts serious doubt on "Global Warming" which was less than helpful to their cause.

Scientists in cover-up of

You need a subscription to the UK Times to access the full article.

This looks like Climate-gate part two unfolding. Maybe it is time for you to start asking yourself what is the real cause behind scientists producing fearmongering, sky is falling, we are doomed, reports while covering up the research of other scientists who disclaim their assessments!

No, that is not true. It's more of the same that keeps being debunked.

No, this is wrong.

The warmists are getting louder and more desperate, while an increasing number are "breaking ranks" because the long list of manipulations, distortions and outright list just keeps growing.

There is real environmental damage going on today that is measurable..,, and you want to start tackling a problem that will create a situation that doesn't really seem like much of a problem, and a whole load of crap shovelled next to it to try to scare people into taking up a cause.

What's worse is the method they support would literally see a return to serfdom, where the majority of the world lives hand to mouth while "kings" live in high tech palaces the third outcome being a "upper middle class" type of existence for a world of 1 billion people, but don't realize these are the inevitable outcomes.

You seem the more time and effort spent on co2, why not find out how to eliminate the parts of the exhaust that creates "smog" that is other than co2.

Or, how about that, for as safe as nuclear power is, it's been around for less than a hundred years, and there have been over 1500 nuclear tests around the world, and three MAJOR nuclear incidences, when each one changes the composition of the atmosphere.... For our sakes forever. Your great grandchildren 15 times removed will live in a world with a higher background radiation because of these, yet you care about 1 degree of temperature change in the next 100 years??

Or what about open air genetic testing going on? The potential, no matter how slight, that something could go wrong, and still we are supposed to care about co2?

Come on, global warming is a red herring. Plain and simple, and eventually the cult will wake up, even if it's only one by one.

Re: Climate change is here and action needed now, new White House report says

The government has no reason to push for this, paranoid conspiracies aside. But, you find the same view well outside of government.

Of course they do. It is a political agenda. I find the opposite view as well outside of government.

It's also a money agenda, even bigger than politics.

Sorry Boo Boo, it's considered fact ONLY by liberal scientists supporting Al Gore and friends, and liberals posting on political forums such as yourself. It's considered hogwash by all other non-believing scientists, meteorologists, and people with an ounce of common sense.

Every single major national scientific organization of note in the world tells them of how climate change is already affecting the world and how much more it will affect the world...and what do the conservatives worry about? Taxes.

"Hundreds of billions for defense, but not one penny to address the worldwide danger the scientific community is warning us about".

That's lib fools fault for melding a possible problem with a global wealth redistribution ponzi scheme.

That's the left's Raison d'être which, loosely translated, means there are SPECTRE like enemies who are out to destroy the world and only they and Al Gore can stop them.

No, scientist by and large don't have political agendas. And it is scientists who push the science.

No, I use many sources, including this and other Murdock outlets. There has been no proven cover up.

That is factually incorrect. It may seem that way to those in the bubble, but you have it factually incorrect.

It's hopeless dealing with zealots.

If the Obama White House says something, chances are, it is a deliberate, manipulative Lie.

So, now we know that Anthropomorphic Climate Change is a Lie.

So, lets shutdown all of the Carbon Trading BS for good.

Cut all of the "Climate Change" research grants, and put the money back into NASA and getting to the Moon for Helium3.

But..but who will outreach to Muslim countries if not NASA?

No, scientist by and large don't have political agendas. And it is scientists who push the science.

It is money and politics that allow scientists to push the science. If the current state of the science were stable, there wouldn't be any meaningful disagreement. In fact a majority of the U.S. population agrees with the deniers.

I know, but I keep trying to get through to you guys anyway. Sooner or later you'd think the science would get through to you guys. :lamo
