New White House report: Climate change is here and action needed now - CNN.com

Washington (CNN) -- Climate change is here and will only worsen. Get used to more flooding, wildfires and drought, depending on where you live. Cities and states across America already are spending lots of money to respond.

Those are the take-home messages of a new White House report released Tuesday that is part of President Barack Obama's second-term effort to prepare the nation for the impacts of a changing climate such as rising sea levels and increasingly erratic weather.

The National Climate Assessment update said evidence of human-made climate change "continues to strengthen" and that "Americans are noticing changes all around them."

"Climate change is not a distant threat," said John Holdren, who directs the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. "It already is affecting every region of the country and key sectors of the economy."

Did you hear that? That was your taxes about to skyrocket.

If ice caps melt, we'll see an upward spike in houseboat prices.

Those are the take-home messages of a new White House report released Tuesday that is part of President Barack Obama's second-term effort to get his sorry ass to a point the public can hold its nose and vote for the fawning lick spittle he calls congressmen and senators who are fighting for their political lives.

Let's see, the minimum wage thing is less than a groundswell, he has lost on the amnesty deal, it will never happen. His foreign policy is a class one joke and Obamacare is not topping the charts.

So, we drag out the big bad bogey man that everyone fears, the earth will end in twelve minutes. The National Climate Assessement is somehow a more independent of political sway than the IRS, now under investigation for harassing Tea Party supporters.

And while warmist claims are being shot down left right and center, out uncaped hero rises majestically from the mist of 1600 Avenue to save Americans from the evil that profit has wrought upon the land.

It is, in the words of a former Canadian Prime Minister "Bull**** theater" and another scam to pry money out of your pocket.

The ice cap is growing. You know that, right?

Here in Louisiana it snowed three times this winter.

Hell, I'll be glad when global warming kicks in! LOL!!

Re: Climate change is here and action needed now, new White House report says

guess this means he's officially stopped even TRYING to fix the economy. History will give him an "F-" grade on his handling of the economy, so maybe he's trying to raise his grade on global warming. good luck with that

Re: Climate change is here and action needed now, new White House report says

Obama desperately wants to change the subject from the economy and Benghazi so it's time to sound the climate alarm.

Brilliant summary of this colossal catastrophe of an administration.

I'll believe global warming is a crisis when the people who say it's crisis start acting like there's a crisis rather than flying jumbo jets all over creation to go golfing with a retinue of 300 people.

On the other hand, maybe I still won't believe it.

Re: Climate change is here and action needed now, new White House report says

Let us assume for argument sake that global warming is happening and is man made or at least a we are contributing factor.

What solution does Washington have that doesn't consist of large money exchanges? So far all serious proposals that I have seen out of Washington seemed to be little more then money grabs. If and when real solutions are brought to the table then I may consider listening but until then Im not going to waste my time with em.

It doesn't matter if global warming--correction: climate disruption--is real, or not. It has nothing to do with climate disruption; it's all about government control of the private sector, along with scientists recognizing the obvious cash cow that could keep their bill-folds fat for decades to come.

When, in the geological history of the planet has the climate not been in a constant state of change?

when in the history of the planet have we consumed the natural resources at the rate we currently are?

Re: Climate change is here and action needed now, new White House report says

Ever notice that the answer to every problem that these morons throw at us is for the government to take more of our money? Well, of course you have, unless you are on the left, that is.

I'm willing to bet that "climate change" (the new sweeping name because global warming showed them to be fools) doesn't even rate in double digits on things that most Americans are concerned about. This President has a real knack for spending our money on crap we don't want to waste a dime on!

The economy is in the toilet, we are a joke all over the world, you screwed up in Benghazi, and you are breaking the backs of hard working Americans with your food-stamp, welfare utopia. And this is what the hell you are up to??? For Christ sake, do us a favor and disappear! We can't even afford your multimillion dollar vacations anymore!

It's fun how many people actually believe this.

The part I outlined in red? That's the dataset that has somehow managed to convince you ice caps are growing. Meanwhile, the rest of us are looking at a whole chart.

When, in the geological history of the planet has the climate not been in a constant state of change?

Lung cancer has existed for as long as lungs have existed, but that's not an argument in favor of smoking.

What?

Irrelevant analogy, or more likely, deflection.

There is No Scientific Evidence That Humans are Causing Global Warming
Submitted by Donald R. May on March 15, 2014

The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee recently invited Patrick Moore, Ph.D., the co-founder of Greenpeace, to testify before the Subcommittee on Oversight. On February 25, Dr. Moore made it clear that he does not believe Earth is warming through any fault of human activities.

After 15 years in the top committee I had to leave as Greenpeace took a sharp turn to the political left, and began to adopt policies that I could not accept from my scientific perspective. Climate change was not an issue when I abandoned Greenpeace, but it certainly is now.

There is no scientific proof that human emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) are the dominant cause of the minor warming of the Earth’s atmosphere over the past 100 years. If there were such a proof it would be written down for all to see. No actual proof, as it is understood in science, exists.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) states: “It is extremely likely that human influence has been the dominant cause of the observed warming since the mid-20th century.” (My emphasis)

“Extremely likely” is not a scientific term but rather a judgment, as in a court of law. The IPCC defines “extremely likely” as a “95-100% probability”. But upon further examination it is clear that these numbers are not the result of any mathematical calculation or statistical analysis.

But, if the temperature is 100° and it doesn't rain for 3 months you'l scream, "climate disruption", 'til the cows come home. But of course you claim to live in an all black neighborhood, so...

Nope, that's not how it works. This winter, while the polar vortex was kicking ass up here, it was more than 120 degrees in Australia. Very simply, if you take the temperature on spots all over the earth and average them out, it is easy to see that the temperature of the globe has increased.

And, by the way, I DO live in a 95 percent black neighborhood. Nobody worries about getting drunk on Sonic vanilla shakes in my neighborhood. People here are a bit more sophisticated than that. They read a lot. Next time you are in Houston, I will buy myself a beer at the local bar. I'll get you a Sonic vanilla shake, and we can both get a buzz going.

When the ice melts in your drink, does it overflow?

The connection is that "but this has always happened" is not an argument for causing that thing to happen more. The so-called skeptics often declare that "climate has always changed," as if this is some stunning revelation that AGW proponents have never considered, and also as if it actually means anything.

No, but when Greenland melts my drink will be quite full.

Uh but they claim that the ice cap is shriniking.

The alarmist ( delusionists ) also quote warm WEATHER as evidence of climate change.

Cannot have it both ways
