Really, Urban Dictionary is where you get your facts?
Talk about nutty.
This is still a ridiculous and unfounded example. Not remotely based in reality. Why arent people handing out cell phones? Food? Bikes to promote energy savings? Money? Those are all great ideas, esp. for those in poverty in inner cities or places like Detroit.
And if you'd call highly competent and responsible elitist, then sure gun owners are that. Ask a random gun owner their opinion of a customized 1911 vs a standard glock and you're likely to be bored to death with the oncoming lecture. Ask a random car owner how an engine works and they'll tell you something like when you put the key in. How many gun owners do you know who aren't completely anal about their weapons? (and for good reason).
I wasn't calling gun owners elitist... Only that the vast majority of gun owners are responsible (as you seem to be). Thanks for proving it further.
Here's some news for you....you are not describing the average gun owner...nor one that is 'more responsible' in any way.
For instance, I dont care about guns at all...I know how to run "mine" very well and do not care about other guns. Know little about other kinds. I'm only learning to shoot long guns now for practicality's sake.
I do like to shoot. I also compete. But I have little interest in guns and only own ones that have a specific purpose, so I dont 'collect' them. I dont agree with your statements on other gun owners (am not an 'elitist')....but I am a responsible gun owner.
I know lots of gun owners and carriers. And what you describe is not them. Everyone wants other gun owners to be responsible and safe and be trained. However not everyone automatically assumes 'everybody else' isnt. I see it on the gun forums tho...people who think they are better than others (often called sheep altho I dont see you as that type) because they have buttloads of target practice and cc permit.
We're not talking about which gun laws work and which don't. We're talking about if the government has a right to regulate arms.
Do you think that people should be able to carry a firearm on a plane... where any bullets fired are likely to lead to a explosive decompression? If not, then you need to reconcile the constitutional basis for governments ability to regulate arms on a plane, but not on the ground.
is there a point to that stupidity other than you feel a need to whine about conservatives?
You mean from an Air Marshall? Oopsie.
You refer to HIGHLY trained Air Marshals as opposed to any old fearful 'stand your ground' guy who's ammo is not designed for work in aircraft and who's skills are suspect at best??? Let's have 4 or 5 guys flinging lead in a densely packed space at 32,000 feet! :doh
Ah, I see that your hatred of pro-gun folks continues to color your view.

Laughing, no hate in my heart for the right to keep and bear as I do keep and bear. Do have to laugh at the silly comments many 'gun pro's' make in an attempt to equate well trained professionals from anyone who can carry a weapon. eace
Therein lies the fallacy of your use of such a broad brush when painting others. Not all gun folks are hilljack morons who have no idea about proper shooting techniques and training. That fact, however, is still is not enough to educate nasty folks like yourself. Ignorance is truly bliss for some.
Let me get a very narrow brush... I'd say some CONs prove both ignorance is bliss and their bias blinds them.
Who said a DAMN thing about 'gun' folks being hillack morons???? That would be YOU pal!!!!!
But you have to be quite ignorant to think just because someone holds a CCW they have enough TRAINING- knowing is reading a book  - to successfully engage in a high stress very niche environment to include the choice of caliber and projectile. And just how does all these 'gun' folks decide who shoots and please tell me how to do so in a jam packed aircraft!!!??? I fly commerical quite a bit, I have trained quite a few folks for close quarter and high stress engagements- can't say the job of hitting a badguy in a plane is easy- but do regale us with your vast sea of experience....
Now the CON name calling is amusing, once I was VERY nasty and hunted people like animals and got quite a shock when I found out just how good those 'animals' were at hunting me....
But do remain blissful.... eace

I would add that to carry outside the home, one should also have full FBI variety background check, pass a required gun safety/handling/proficiency course, and register your firearm. This is what I had to do to get a CCW in Idaho, one of the reddest states in the country, well, I didn't have to register my handgun, but I think probably I should have been required to if I was going to carry such that if my gun and I got separated and the police arrived, the police would immediately know what they were looking for and what threat it might cause them.
Your disparaging remarks indicated your nastiness quite well. You reap what you sew.
I tried, Idaho didn't want the information until after my handgun was stolen because I left it at home to enter a "gun-free" zone on a day I was burgled. Then they wanted that information, not until though. I did try.why didn't you voluntarily submit yourself to your own requirements?

Those were required in Idaho, so yes, I completed an FBI check and a gun safety/laws/usage course. Can you not read? How bizarre that you are asking what's been clearly discussed. I also did so in Washington though someone has suggested I didn't need to.and the FBI check?.. the extensive training?... you get those hammered out? you're the very first person i've ever seen claim to have tried to voluntarily register their firearm..
Does the above apply to the specific airplane scenario or in general?
just a side point, but our " highly trained professionals"... they are not very good with their firearms..... many of them suck badly.

In my opinion people like you are careless and thoughtless and a big part of the problem with gun ownership in USA. I look forward to when there are sensible gun laws nationwide.yes, i can read... how very thoughtful of you to inquire. i think it's fine that you voluntarily do these things, i have no objection to you doing what you want. my objections only arise when folks like you are not content in doing things for yourself, but seek to force everyone else to submit to your requirements. I have a CCW ( i wouldn't call that an "extensive training course" at all) .. I have zero ( out if 55) registered firearms( i am not required to register, nor will i if i was required).... most of my purchase are from private sellers, so no backgrounds checks either.( I have, in the past, passed FBI checks..it's an absurdity that i would still be required to so so)
