Concerns growing about militia members at Bundy ranch - 8 News NOW

So like I said in other topics about this developing story, its gone beyond the unpaid fees for gazing on Federal land and turned into a question of whether or not we are going to allow an active insurgency to operate within this country.

Also, is it more ironic or sad that these folks who claim to want freedom are acting in exactly the manner of an authoritarian?

I read that as Bunny Ranch and the story seemed more interesting.

Actually, they are committing false imprisonment, which is highly illegal. My opinion is that the Feds should just move in and mop up.

Where's Obama's drone when you need it?

Well, it is Bunkerville. It's aptly named. Bundy should negotiate a settlement, pay it, and everybody can go home. Let the state argue with the BLM about who controls what.

It's false imprisonment either way, but have they actually "arrested" anyone?

If they are stopping people at gunpoint, that is false imprisonment, whether or not they arrest anybody.

Yeah, just waiting for the hordes of Bundy supporters to gallop in screaming, "Revoluuuutiooooon!!!"

Totally illegal, stopping people at gunpoint, creating checkpoints, playing soldier in the hopes that they'll finally get to shoot someone so their boring lives will be redeemed in one massive bloodbath that will go down in history with Waco and Ruby Ridge.

Except it'll probably go down in history as Whacko and the Cow Huggers. A couple dozen snipers on the overpass was a bad enough provocation; this is completely out of line.

If they want to stand up for ranchers' rights then it should be those whose land is being seized by eminnent domain for the Keystone XL, not some deadbeat who refuses to pay his bills. Its hard to rally behind a deadbeat.

I'm aware of that, I was just wondering how far they had gone.

Of course I figure if they actually seized someone then someone would have to do something about them.

Yup, in Nebraska, the government went ahead and stole a rancher's land from him without due process.

I think someone has to do something about them NOW, before it gets out of hand and they kill someone. They are acting totally irresponsibly now, and that is very dangerous.

Mighty quiet in this thread...

.... none of the usual people screaming about the evul gubmit!

It must be hard to defend this guy. I mean, all the right wing heroes lately have turned out to be disappointing. The Gandhi-like woman beater that is George Zimmerman is nowhere to be seen. Rubio has dropped off the radar. Glenn Beck is ... pretending he's still important. The revolution leaders all seem to fizzle out and turn into embarrassment.

I love the irony.

Alright, I think it's time for the government to crack down on the right-wing hippies before the law abiding citizens get hurt from the "freedom brigade."

Unfortunately most of the keystone xl supporters and those similar to them don't give two ****s about property rights. What is also unfortunate is those who claim to care about property rights stop caring about property rights the moment big oil or big business sticks their butt cheeks in the air to be smooched, regardless if big oil or big business is American or foreign owned.

In all seriousness, if they stopped me, I would shoot them. I call on all residents so affected in that area to likewise take up arms and respell these 'militia'.

The cowboys and Indians are fighting on the same side.......

Cowboys and Indians stage a feisty Keystone XL protest | Grist

Their land is getting confiscated and the government hasn't even approved the project yet. So why aren't the militias there protecting those ranchers that actually have a legit grievance instead of holing up with a free loading thief?

This stinks to high heaven.

"...Both groups are threatened by the Keystone proposal. Native Americans say that the State Department has failed to consult them about the risks of running the pipeline near their lands and holy places such as burial grounds. And in Canada, First Nations near the tar sands in Alberta oppose the exploitation of the area, citing local health and environmental hazards.

Ranchers, meanwhile, are having their land confiscated under eminent domain in order to get the pipeline built. The cowboys and Indians have come together, Thomas-Muller told Grist, because “rural landowners are being treated like Native Americans.” That is to say, their land is being stolen and despoiled...."

God I hope the Guard is called up over this. Please dear God put Bundy's 'militia' in my sights, I'm a damn good shot.

All is not well in Militiaville. Oath Keepers » Blog Archive » Bundy Ranch Advisory for April 29, 2014

Incidentally the Oathkeepers are officially the militia group affiliated with the Bundy Ranch. Which hasnt pleased other militia groups. Apparently the militia community doesnt like that title so they no call themselves the patriot community.

"And that is true. And that is why Oath Keepers is being kicked in the teeth by people purporting to be pillars of the patriot community. "

Also it should be noted that the Bundies/Oathkeepers have named this the "The Bundy Ranch Revolution".

"This advisory will be an encapsulation of a much larger story with numerous feature or peak points to reveal in coming weeks and months. The Bundy Ranch Revolution against federal land management within the several States is positively huge. My comment to Stewart Rhodes regarding the gravity and significance of the Bundy stand is that it is a watershed moment in Twenty-first Century American history, and I am totally proud of Oath Keepers for jumping in with the Bundy family and their good neighbors."

They obviously want to make this a big deal and they go as far as calling it a revolution. They think that they are going to setup a military base in Nevada and through that base command a revolution. They believe that Americans will back them and pick up their firearms and rise against the government.

I find this all very amusing and comical. And the Bundies should be commended for stirring up the nut cases and rounding them up for easy arrests. These militia folk are paranoid freaks (just read the link "possible drone strike"). The oathkeepers believe that they have been infiltrated. SO picture a group of paranoid people who distrust even their fellow soldiers. If the feds show up in force these nuts will be shooting their own first believing that they were infiltrators, but more likely they would all just **** their pants and give up. It really is pathetic seeing these full grown men sitting on top of a hill pretending to be look outs. I mean wtf are they going to to do?

lol Easy there, Jerry. Nobody needs to get shot over this as long as we still have the first amendment...and the rule of law.

The 1st amendment doesn't let you stop people on public roads, and so the 1st amendment doesn't apply.

The militia isn't operating under orders from a 'proper authority', they are conducting illegal activity, and so this 'militia' is little better than gang members.
