Militia around Bundy Ranch set up checkpoints, demand papers, control taffic flow

I'm jumping in on this thread late, and perhaps someone has already pointed this out, but the claims of militia creating checkpoints, demanding papers etc is patently FALSE. How do I know this? Because I speak with the Bundy's personally every few days and also receive their updates.
I am a member of one of the militias that was represented at the ranch.

Now I ask you this: If the government came to your neighborhood and explained that the land your house sits on is no longer yours (or perhaps was never) and the court system failed to help you AND then a SWAT team showed up to evict you...what would you do? This is not a far-fetched scenario, my friends. It is happening all over the country.

Anyone who still believes the government is here to help and protect them REALLY needs to wake up.

Indeed it is happening all over the country. There are several ranches in Texas facing the same issue. One day the Feds show up and tell them that the lands their family own, have owned for decades, isn't theirs.

Two things, it's not "another's" property, it's public land. The other is that history is rife with instances of disobeying unjust laws to the point that the law is changed.

How many checkpoints were set up by MLK?

Why would one have a right to welfare?

If you have all the paperwork, are eligible and meet all requisites... why wouldn't you have a right to it? This is all in contrast to someone like Bundy who under no circumstance has a right to graze off land that doesn't belong to him.

Your understanding of public land is weak. The Capitol Building is on public land. Can you set up a tend in it if you so wish and live inside the building? Nope.

The Capitol Building has another use. The land Bundy is grazing on does not. It's your understanding that is weak.

This is the government "testing" their authority over the people - to see what type of reaction they may get.

I approve of the reaction.

Which Governor called you to muster, under which battalion does your unit operate, and who is your commanding officer?

How many checkpoints were set up here..I haven't seen proof of any.

All the reports by Citizens are sufficient to prove the allegations.

But let me rephrase anyway, how many checkpoints were even alleged to have been set up by MLK?

Actually, it does have a use. It is grazing land for people who pay to use land maintained by the public. As Bundy has not paid his usage fee in years, he has no right to graze on those lands.

So you don't really have proof that any checkpoints were set up.

I thought so.

Well apparently a whole lot of people support Bundy's right to have his business supported by the government.

That's a flat out lie. From what I see, people are saying he was wrong for not paying, but that the government was heavy handed and over reacted.

So they're showing up with guns to defend him from the government being heavy handed? Geez, can we expect them to do so in all cases where the government is being heavy handed?

I just saw this thread now and that's exactly what I was thinking.

We can take infrared pictures from space of terrorists in caves halfway around the world and the only evidence we have of a.) actual checkpoints, b.) armed checkpoints, or c.) forcible ("at gunpoint") stops at checkpoints are allegations, and when you look to the initial source of the allegations there isn't even a claim to b.) or c.).

Yeah, lets call out the National Guard and kill people on the weight of a freshman Representative's fairly benign claims...

Probably not..but that doesn't a make it any less valid.

Exactly!!! Thank you

Local reporters have a little bit of backup for their "allegations"
I-Team: Police say Bundy ranch protesters not off the hook - 8 News NOW

LAS VEGAS -- Metro Police officers who were on the front lines of a recent showdown near the Bundy ranch in Bunkerville say they feared for their lives.

At least some of the militia members who pointed weapons at police officers during the confrontation may have wanted a violent outcome and tried to incite one.

In exclusive interviews with the 8 News NOW I-Team, officers who were on the scene shared their thoughts and fears, and they say it is not over.

"These guys with rifles, keep them calm," was Clark County Assistant Sheriff Joe Lombardo's request to one of Bundy's sons the day of the confrontation.

Lombardo's top priority was to prevent a spark that might set off a bloody firefight.

"There was a possibility of somebody just having an accidental discharge causing a blood bath, because the individuals that were showing up, the militia quote unquote, were armed to the teeth," Lombardo said.
<snip>
Some of them didn't need much to get riled. Their hostility toward government was on full display. A few equate the BLM with Nazis.

"That bunch, the SS squad or something to do with Hitler, shouldn't have guns there aimed at the people," one man at the showdown said.

They were equally hostile to journalists covering the story. Pistol-packing militia men have blocked 8 News NOW's access to public roads. Some poured lighter fluid around our news vehicle while others got physical.

Another little item I found while Googling that relates to comments about how Bundy should be paying the state of Nevada instead of the BLM for grazing rights. Don't know if that would work to well with Mr Bundy. Nevada charges between $12 and $14 per AUM (animal unit per month), the BLM charges $1.35 AUM and the average price east of the Rockies approaches $16 AUM
