Militia around Bundy Ranch set up checkpoints, demand papers, control taffic flow

That guy? The alleged "sniper"?

That guy was over 500 yards away with a rifle without a scope, an AK (not known for accuracy) no less, he had no optics of any kind:

He couldn't even hit the bridge in front of him if he wanted to:
View attachment 67165668

Just because he was in the prone position doesn't mean he was aiming at the feds, he couldn't even see the feds let alone aim at his own militia men in front of him.

No one was aiming at the Feds, the Feds however were ALL taking aim. They were the ones with snipers, threatening to shoot people.

It is only 100 yards between the bridges.

Here is a better pic of his position:

A clerical branch of the government can casually mount a quasi-military operation with firepower sufficient to massacre hundreds of people instead of filing a lien at the local courthouse, and you're worried about some bloviating cowboys?

By the way, do you have the foggiest idea of how the country came to be? Insurrections are, and quite frankly always should be an available reaction to tyrannical government overreach. Read up on your Jefferson sometime.

These fines had been unpaid for 20 years, do you really think another court order would have done the job? He hasn't respected any of the others.

Also this is tyrannical government overreach this is about paying for using public land for commercial purposes. And while its true that this country won its independence as a result of rebellion and insurrection the goal of that revolution was to establish our own form of government not to live in a constant state of anarchy as rebellions crop up every decade or so. Look at Jefferson's quote about the "tree of liberty"

God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. ... What country before ever existed a century and half without a rebellion? And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure

Now think of the civil war, the last time this country suffered a rebellion which could be compared to the revolutionary war. Do we really want to do that every 20 years? How could society exist in such a country? How could liberty exist in such a country? Do you really think that people, average Americans who would be constantly fighting and dying in these wars, seeing their property and lives destroyed would tolerate any kind of government which would allow that to continue to happen? People living like that would accept any government so long as could put a stop to the constant wars, they'd give up any kind of freedom for simple peace and stability.

Jefferson had a lot of good ideas, he was an excellent writer, but he had a habit of getting a little too excited and a little too extreme sometimes in his writing like when he said this. Its obviously not anyway to run a country and obviously not practical at all. Don't take everything he said as gospel, have your own opinions as well.

Looks like the goobers are turning on each other. Like two scorpions in a jar.

Nevada Ranch Militias Turn Against Each Other Over Drone-Attack Theory
Adam Weinstein

The armed anti-government play-warriors who built a military force around a racist redneck rancher in Nevada have split into rival factions and are now at the brink of civil war, calling each other crazies and traitors and spreading rumors that Eric Holder planned a drone strike on them.

For nearly a month, organized groups of militiamen as well as gun-toting "independents" have descended on Bunkerville, Nevada, ostensibly to protect Cliven Bundy, the curmudgeon cattleman who grazed his cattle on federal land, owed feds more than a million in fees, and famously shared his opinions on "Negroes" with America.

The feds gave Bundy his cows back and avoided an armed confrontation, but freemen in search of a hot discharge of their firearm loads remain encamped around his land, occasionally setting up checkpoints to intimidate local drivers in the name of freedom.

In this Waco-wacko Woodstock of woolly-bully mountain men, the irony and the insanity spiked last weekend when leaders of the most prominent militia group, the Oath Keepers, began complaining of armed madmen "in the camp running amok." They eventually pulled back from their positions, claiming they had received intelligence suggesting that the Obama administration's attack drones were incoming.

Cliven Bundy Ranch Speaker Warns Of ‘Civil War,’ Promises Harry Reid Will Have His ‘Balls Ripped Off’

“Vanderboegh then told the legend of an Alabama woman named Jenny Brooks whose husband and son, according to Vanderboegh’s version of the story, were killed by state law enforcement collecting taxes for the Confederate government. According to the tale, Brooks went after the men who had killed her family, killed two of them in return, and turned one of their skulls into a soap dish.”

At that point, Vanderboegh pulled out a skull and declared that he would present it to Harry Reid as the “2014 Award for Incitement to Civil War.”

He added, “Don’t poke the wolverine with a sharp stick, Harry, unless you want your balls ripped off.”

Okay, you did your homework, you win. My source was what I heard on the news, don't even remember which show.

Either way, this guy admitted he wasn't a part of any Militia. (Source: Jerry)

Did the clown say the words or not? Attacking the source with nothing but a political opinion doesn't say much for your argument

Not sure, I wasn't there....I don't know the full speech, or context of....But don't let that stop you.

OR in other words, "I refuse to watch/listen/read anything from a source that acts in opposition to my personal political views." OK, Got it.

Do you get your views from anything other than far left sites?

Does that invalidate what this guy actually said, on video in front of the other militia folk? I read from all sides, left and right, I listen to right and left radio and overseas. If I find something interesting, I share it. Care to comment on what this guy is saying to incite the folks at the ranch?

Lol, I just said: FEDERALISM (division of power).

Would he have a right to graze on this land if the land belonged the to the state?

Don't know. I was simply rebutting your snarky remark about the 'usual people' not being here defend 'this guy'. The reason being that many of we usual people don't care to play games demonizing people and making things personal. I wish very liberal people would act the same and have a civil conversation about ideas instead of making everything personal and insulting.

Calling racists out for what they are is not demonizing.

It's strange that many people (among Bundy supporters) think 'free speech' means 'freedom from consequences'.

THat would be murder dude, knowingly and intentionally planning to create a situation where you can kill someone under a specific circumstance is pre-meditated murder.
No, it's war.

No its murder, you don't have the legal authority to declare war or to act in war without legal and lawful direction.
Let's talk about "legal authority" after this 'militia' tells us which Governor called them to muster, which National Guard battalion they're operating under, who their commissioned commanding officer is, and publishes copies of their mission orders.

Until then, they're a street gang, not militia.

If they can show the above legal authorities, then we can start listing their war crimes under Geneva Convention treaty, which at this point are minor in severity but numerous in frequency; the use of children as human shields being the first.

And of-course, this is all besides the fact that they're wrong on the general issue to begin with, but the BLM is being retarded also, so it's a zero sum gain.

Other people breaking the law doesn't give you the right to break the law. So like I said, you have no legal authority to take action against them at this time.

I wouldn't be braking the law. Putting yourself out there so that the enemy acts first, thus giving you legal excuse, is 100% Army tactics, and it works. This 'milita' has no authority to stop me in the first place, so I should be able to drive busloads of armed people around all day long without 'militia' interference. The moment they stopped me, they don ****ed up.

If these people were taking up arms under the argument that the BLM is not a pera-military unit, like law enforcement, and thus shouldn't be using SWAT teams regardless of how wrong Bundy may be, I would be on their side, even though imo Bundy himself is in the wrong for not paying the fees.

Concerns growing about militia members at Bundy ranch - 8 News NOW

So like I said in other topics about this developing story, its gone beyond the unpaid fees for gazing on Federal land and turned into a question of whether or not we are going to allow an active insurgency to operate within this country.

Also, is it more ironic or sad that these folks who claim to want freedom are acting in exactly the manner of an authoritarian?

To answer the question you posed - while it is both ironic and sad it is revealing in that the naked right wing hatred of the American people and their government has been openly revealed and its proponents clearly exposed for the insane whackjobs they are and we have always known they were.

So perhaps they did lots of people a favor in exposing their extremism in this manner.

The answer is: No. The rest of your post is just you complaining because your self righteous stance on this issue is full of nonsense. You picked a freeloading rancher to stand behind and now his buddies are getting railed for being nothing but gun toting thugs. It must suck to not even know what it is you're supporting.

We still have NO proof that any "checkpoints" were ever set up.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch....the militia are fighting each other now.

Oathkeepers vs. Militiamen

"....Vicious infighting among those remaining at the camp – estimated at less than a hundred – broke out a little more than two weeks after heavily armed militiamen forced federal agents to back down from a planned roundup of Bundy’s illegally grazing cattle from public lands. After vowing to stay on and protect Bundy – who then stumbled on the national stage with an outpouring of racist commentary – the remaining “Patriots,” who have been raising fear levels among local residents, have begun feuding. And it has been revealing.

Apparently, someone within one of the major factions at the camp, the Oath Keepers, relayed word of the imminent drone attack to his leaders. Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes responded by pulling his people out of what they called “the kill zone” (the area the supposed drone would be striking). When the other militiamen learned that the Oath Keepers had pulled out, they were outraged.....
