Benghazi emails suggest White House aide involved in prepping Rice for ‘video [W:212]

Re: Benghazi emails suggest White House aide involved in prepping Rice for ‘video [W:

Of course. As anticipated. Still blaming Bush, even though multiple nation's intelligence services corroborated what the US intelligence services were stating at the time, and Obama can do no wrong.

Enjoy left wingers lying to you, claim right wingers are worse.

You do realize that you've lost any remaining credibility that you might have had?

Here is the problem. Even if all intelligence was true, it wasn't a reason to attack Iraq, they would have been years before they could have produced a nuke. If they wanted to attack a county that was further along as Iraq, they should have picked North Korea. As I said above Bush and Company made it very difficult for politicians to vote against Bush's war in Iraq.

Re: Benghazi emails suggest White House aide involved in prepping Rice for ‘video’ ex

Really? You seem to be able to dismiss facts quite easily.

Bengazi was an impromptu attack by a widely disparate group of actors under the cover of and in response to the protests in Cairo sparked by an internet video. Them are facts. No it was not spontaneous, but nor was it planned more than a few hours ahead of time.

The fantasy storyline that this thread and the 500 other spammings are trying to push; namely that these were carefully planned attacks by al Qaeda operatives which the administration knew about but intentionally failed to prevent or respond to so that they could hide them in a goldbergian conspiracy to win a presidential election is ludicrous.

Yes, four people died. It's a horrible tragedy. But people who try and turn that tragedy into a political weapon so that their side "wins" are pretty terrible human beings. Ask yourself this question, why has the emphasis switched from Obama to Hillary? Could it be because this is a manufactured hit piece by the right wing to try and discredit a FAR more successful administration? Notice how the Democrats didn't use the complete failure of 9/11 as a political bludgeon? Who's looking to make things better, and who's looking to score political points?

Do you get paid to post this stuff or are you a "true believer"?

So how many years exactly should the US Navy continue to allow Saddam to fire radar guided anti-aircraft missiles at them while they patrol and enforce the no-fly zone?
How many more chem deployments against civilians, such as the Kurds, should Saddam be allowed? What's the humane thing to do?
Plus we find out that he's got more, or making more, or planning to make more?

There were a raft more reasons than just the few that you chose to remember and the situation was different from what you chose to remember. And BTW, I claim no special or complete knowledge about this, I was much younger and didn't pay as much attention to all this at the time as I'm doing now. However, I do remember some of the things.

How about you come join the rest of us in the more recent history and present?

Re: Benghazi emails suggest White House aide involved in prepping Rice for ‘video’ ex

Why would you even remotely think your beloved dictator wasn't in charge of our troops. That is what you elected him for.

I met a few diplomats that were involved with issues surrounding Beirut. Fact is I was out of the country much of the time in either Saudi Arabia or Central Am, but I do not recall RR ever dodging responsibility for what happened, or flying off for a fund raiser the day after.

No Obama didn't have to because he was not in control of troop movement. Now I say again: Did Reagan assume responsibility for guards guns being unloaded in unfriendly territory or did he just blame someone else?

We should never go to war unless we or an ally has been attacked or somebody is an imminent threat of nuking us. I supported Desert Storm and going after Osama Bin Laden and al-qaida. I was against the VietNam war and President Bush's war in Iraq.

Re: Benghazi emails suggest White House aide involved in prepping Rice for ‘video’ ex

If embassy attacks are a sign of weakness, then Bush was the weakest president in American history.....

June 14, 2002, U.S. consulate in Karachi, Pakistan
Suicide bomber kills 12 and injures 51.

February 20, 2003, international diplomatic compound in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
Truck bomb kills 17.

February 28, 2003, U.S. consulate in Karachi, Pakistan
Gunmen on motorcycles killed two consulate guards.

July 30, 2004, U.S. embassy in Taskkent, Uzbekistan
Suicide bomber kills two.

December 6, 2004, U.S. consulate in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia
Militants stormed and occupied perimeter wall. Five killed, 10 wounded.

March 2, 2006, U.S. consulate in Karachi, Pakistan
Suicide car bomber killed four, including a U.S. diplomate directly targeted by the assailants.

September 12, 2006, U.S. embassy in Damascus, Syria
Gunmen attacked embassy with grenades, automatic weapons, and a car bomb (though second truck bomb failed to detonate). One killed and 13 wounded.

January 12, 2007, U.S. embassy in Athens, Greece
A rocket-propelled grenade was fired at the embassy building. No one was injured.

July 9, 2008, U.S. consulate in Istanbul, Turkey
Armed men attacked consulate with pistols and shotguns. Three policemen killed.

March 18, 2008, U.S. embassy in Sana'a, Yemen
Mortar attack misses embassy, hits nearby girls' school instead.

September 17, 2008, U.S. embassy in Sana'a, Yemen
Militants dressed as policemen attacked the embassy with RPGs, rifles, grenades and car bombs. Six Yemeni soldiers and seven civilians were killed. Sixteen more were injured.

But I do understand that this is a rough part of the world, and events like this happen. There is no way for any administration, Democratic or Republican, to make it safe. So I do not blame Bush for those attacks. I blame the terrorists, and for anybody to claim that Bush did not do everything he could to keep attacks like this from happening is just plain sick and totally disgusting. Just like it is sick and disgusting to keep trying to find something to pin on Obama over the ONE attack that happened during his tenure. The attempts by ideological assholes to use the deaths of these 4 people for political gain turns my stomach. Want to pin something on Obama? You can start by Obama's ordering the deaths by drones of Americans overseas without due process. Or you can start by Obama's spying on Americans at home. Either way, you have real meat, and if you bring either of those points up, I will join in calling for his impeachment. But no way am I going to to join a group of psychopaths with no sense of decency whatsoever in beating the dead horse known as Benghazi. That is just sick and mentally twisted in a number of ways. FOX News should seek a little psychiatric help. Does FOX News have no sense of shame at all? Pathetic.

Better to leave a tyrant that the US propped up when Iraq were conducting a war against Iran in place to abuse his own people? Enemy of my enemy is my friend? Well, as long as he's attacking my enemy I guess he's my friend. After he stops attacking, well, then I guess we'll see. Not friends, just interests.

The left isn't immune to getting these types of hard international political decisions wrong either. Honestly I think that some of them are serious no-win situations, but yet a decisions need to be made.

Why is it that the present president and administration were giving billions of dollars of military and other aide to Egypt while it was in control by the Muslim Brotherhood? After the administration pretty much caused the ouster of Hosni Mubarak? The Muslim Brotherhood which was known to be, already at that time, as an extremist Muslin organization? Hell, all you have to do is read up on their violent history to realize this.

Yeah, a no win decision had to be made, especially after this administration supported the ouster of Mubarak. 20/20 hindsight says it would have better to leave him in there, and let the internal politics work itself out on it's own.

I have to imagine that similar no win decisions for the support of various smaller countries with tyrants are also faced by the larger tyrant nations. Cuba and Russia during and after the cold war comes to mind.

The US disengaging from the international stage is probably not possible, and if possible is probably not the best course of action for the nation. I'm just waiting for those in change of these international relationships and making these decisions to get smarter and take the longer view perspective into account.

None of these incidents you point to involve the Administration lying, nor was there ever an opportunity to save American lives. I don't believe George Bush would have lied about what happened were he in charge during Benghazi and he would also have likely done whatever possible to save the lives of these men.

Nothing here points to administration lying either, except for talking points with no proof... In other words, bull ****. Like I said before, bring up Obama's trashing the Constitution by spying on Americans, and I will gladly join in calling for his impeachment. But Benghazi? There is nothing there, except for the pathetic attempts to turn the deaths of 4 people into a political football. Like I said.... Sick.

A political football? The US President lied, as everyone should know, and refused to give consent to those waiting to assist those four men who died. It was Obama, right from the moment he knew what was going on, who made it political in an effort to save his election campaign. That you don't know about these lies puts you in a rather exclusive club.

You should be more aware of what's been happening before you even take up space on this thread.

We simply supported the will of the people in Egypt, the idea that we could have stopped them by supporting Mubarak is ludicrous. The Muslim Brotherhood were elected to their positions in a free election. Are you saying we should have stopped that election too? Even when you twist the truth like that it doesn't come close to the blunders of the Bush administration. Bush invaded Iraq because he said they had WMD's that could threaten us. When her failed to find them he changed the mission to nation building and failed at that too. Now we have a Islamic state in Iraq that is sympathetic to our biggest foe, Iran. And we paid for that with over 4000 American lives and Trillions of wasted money. Nothing Obama has or would ever do comes close to the Iraq invasion which has already been described by historians as the biggest foreign policy blunder in 100 years.

No, you are twisting nearly everything that I posted into what you want it to say.

How about we don't get involved with the internal politics of other nations for a start. Would put a big cramp in the do gooder's and all their faux outrage, but I still this it'd a good move on our part.

The US shouldn't have insisted that Mubarak's time was done and advocate his outster, which Obama and SOS Clinton did. Then Muslim Brotherhood came to power, and we should have cut off all aid. Of course the Muslim Brotherhood bullied Obama into keeping it coming.

Credible intelligence from a number of independent corroborating sources that Iraq had and was stockpiling WMDs - so that'd be chem, bio, or nuclear. Most likely chem. He's used them on the Kurds already.

I'm not here defending or supporting the decision to invade Iraq. Just pointing out some facts, beyond blame Bush, that some may have forgotten.
The wisdom or lack of wisdom of that decision won't really be fully known for at least another 10 years, a lot of it depends if the Iraq nation can stand on their own 2 feet, and keep their own Islamic extremists and Baath party extremists under control. Guess we'll see.

Why not just come out and say you do not care about Obama lying about having terrorists on the run and since his incompetence led to the death of 4 Americans a month out from an election - we need to forget about it and move on

After all it is all about Obama all the time with some people and those 4 men were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time

I understand your position, and will agree that it has some merit. I dislike it when a president and his administration spins the truth so hard as to torture it (bold faced lying to the nation and it's people - he does this a lot), just to better his chances in the upcoming election. It strikes me as there is something fundamentally wrong about allowing that and not objecting to it.

The aid we send to Egypt is almost all for the military, it makes their payrolls. Since the military was the one to oust the Brotherhood, cutting off their aid would have been a huge blunder. Iraq is under the control of Shia extremists now, we don't need to wait 10 years.
