Jokes aside, though I personally think that JP2 should have been withheld from sainthood (I am also non-Catholic, so it's a moot point), I can respect Francis making the move to canonize a man who so many Catholics respect at the same time as his more liberal predecessor. As so many have said, it falls in the "Big Tent" philosophy he is trying to instill in the Church.

A much bigger issue will be if the Pope will address the scandal in a more straightforward way.
