GOP lawmaker: 'Men are more motivated' than women

On what study does he leans on while making such statements?

Also, you have posted this twice.

He didn't reference a study. What he said was "men are more motivated by money than women are".

This is what he said.

"Men, by and large, make more because of some of the things they do," he said. "Their jobs are, by and large, riskier. They don’t mind working nights and weekends. They don’t mind working overtime or outdoors."

This is what he said.

What he said was ""Women make half of what men do because of flexibility of work, men are more motivated by money than women are,". Why was that left off the headline in that link? (Rhetorical question, not to you).

Men being more motivated by money doesn't broadly mean "men are more motivated".

So it is just an opinion then. Anyone cares to take this seriously?

Not me. And I live in the state.

It's just an opinion. He thinks men are more motivated by money than women are. That's pretty benign as far as I'm concerned.

Men don't mind working night's and weekends? Overtime? But Women do.

I don't ever work weekends or nights, and I rarely work more than I have to. The extra money isn't as important to me as my free time. My husband very often does. He would rather make more money.

So in my case, as a citizen of the state he lives in, it's true. Is it true in every case? Not at all. But all he did was give his opinion, and it was hardly a terrible comment he made in the grand scheme of terrible things lawmakers say.

That's not what he is saying and you're putting words in his mouth.

There is a lot more pressure on men to make more money than it is on women to make a lot of money. Societal pressure that is. Whether you think this is a good thing or not, it's not important but there is this pressure on men from women and other men. And such, men are more motivated to make money.
What is is the stereotype that women look for in men? Money and a sense of humor.

What's the stereotype that men look for in women? Youth and beauty.
Stereotypes exist for a reason and hence, the pressure.

There is no drama here or no story here. It's just you trying to make a mountain out of an ant hill.

OMFG, I just looked at HuffPo. Their headline:

GOP Lawmaker Says Women Don't Deserve Equal Pay Because They're Lazier

Anyone who doesn't think this partisan nonsense and liberal rephrasing of what people say isn't out of control needs a smack in the head.

He never said women don't deserve equal pay, and he never said women are lazy.

Mind boggling that you see his comments as no biggie, however not surprising. This bonehead must not know any RN's

In fairness to that poster, it's not just him making a mountain out of an ant hill. Everything from Think Progress to HuffPo to the MSM are making the same disingenous comments. Unbelievable.

Yes, I'm sure he never goes to the doctor. We don't have them yet in NH. We still have the veterinarians treating us here.

Women aren't as motivated as Men, m 'kay, carry on then.

...by money. If you're going to attempt to put words into my mouth, you may want to be more honest than the media types and use the man's exact quote which doesn't bother me in the least. Something they are all failing to do.

This is backwards thinking
"Men, by and large, make more because of some of the things they do," he said. "Their jobs are, by and large, riskier. They don’t mind working nights and weekends. They don’t mind working overtime or outdoors."
Can't see that?

I am a 30 year rn. I have never worked overtime. My husband (when he was living) did. Men's sense of self is often dependent on their monetary and material success, much more often than is the case with women. My employer has to make me an extremely sweet offer, to get me to work more than 24 hours per week.

We stopped shooting our politicians for voicing their opinions here in NH sometime around 1798.

Well, nobody ever accused those "news" outlets of ever being interested in anything but "shock" news. Replace those news outlets with the colored magazines that follow movie stars around and make up crap about who hooked up with whom and it's the same thing. Just make it about politicians and public interest news.

Believe you me... one day, a Kardashian will be president.

I'm truly sorry about your husband. I didn't know you lost him. Hugs.

My employer can't incent me enough to give up my personal time. My husband will gladly do it if it means recognition and more money, even though it will interfere with his hockey & snowmobiling trips with his little friends. It's served us very well for 20+ years of marriage.
