GOP lawmaker: 'Men are more motivated' than women

OMFG, I just looked at HuffPo. Their headline:

GOP Lawmaker Says Women Don't Deserve Equal Pay Because They're Lazier

Anyone who doesn't think this partisan nonsense and liberal rephrasing of what people say isn't out of control needs a smack in the head.

He never said women don't deserve equal pay, and
he never said women are lazy.

Correct, but to some people that is implied by what he said.

He certainly didn't help the GOP with that statement no matter what his objective was in spouting that trash.

Maybe maybe not, but they don't have to be. They get preferential treatment either way.

I'm still trying to locate the data that says women in NH make less money than their male counterparts to begin with. I'm sure it happens, but it also happens the other way too. I know this from a former job where we had 2 Executive Vice Presidents, one male, one female. She made more than he did and he was there for 3 years longer than she was.

He's not one of our Congressmen, he's a state Senator. Our Congresscritters (2 moronic women) wouldn't know what the BLS was if they were led there by their noses.

And yes, he was absolutely cited incorrectly. But that won't stop the partisans from being partisan.
I actually respect state congresses far more than the fed.

I cringe everytime people think it is a good idea for the government to get involved with legislating private enterprise.

The GOP isn't in the majority here anyway.

This story isn't being covered on our news at all. It won't hurt him in our state, which is where he is based.

Not everyone falls for what's "implied". Some of us actually care about what's said.

So I could easily create the headline
"Hardcore Partisan Democrat States That Other Democrats are Morons and Cant Read" and that would be pretty much the same exact thing.

Yes, and now I'm curious why no lawmakers in our state swept in when that EVP I worked with made less than his female counterpart who did the same work, but had been there 3 years less than he was. I guess they didn't care then (and we had a Democratic governor and a Democratic-controlled legislature at the time).

Mind boggling that you see his comments as no biggie, however not surprising.
This bonehead must not know any RN's

He certainly doesn't know any of the women that I know who work long, hard hours and are happy to do any kind of work to make a few dollars. This guy is a misogynist and he certainly didn't help the GOP with what he said.

LOL....what a change in tune from just a moment ago.....

I suppose your out will be that since there are probably few NH female lumberjacks, you are not going to support state efforts towards equal pay.....or be "right there with me".

Wow.
I will be right there with you not supporting that company, taking my business elsewhere, even condemning them...but no...I wont join you in creating legislation targeting private businesses. I also wont join you ina panty protest, nor would I join you in a clandestine gas bombing of their headquarters.

Now...show me the actual case that has you panties twisted.

The fake outrage on here is breathtaking.:)

In fairness to that poster, it's not just him making a mountain out of an ant hill.
Everything from Think Progress to HuffPo to the MSM are making the same disingenous comments. Unbelievable
.

I have zero sympathy for this guy. He created this problem for himself by opening his mouth before he turned his brain on.

Common sense would stop most men from saying what he said.

But his argument is BS, he is making an nominal argument, not a rate of pay argument to OPPOSE equal pay for equal work.

The WH is not discriminating based on gender, they pay women the same for the same work.
The state congressman stated that as per the BofL&S statistics, men work more overtime hours, weekend hours and longer pay periods than women.

Do you dispute that and if so based on what source?

Meh...its been pretty calm so far.

Like I said...you want to see fun and fauxrage...wait til Hilary starts championing womens issues during the 2016 campaign.

I don't think he expected any sympathy from you, unless you know him? Or did you vote for him?

This isn't even making local news. It's only the left wing media and some partisan posters who are upset by what he said, which makes it even more ironic.

As I said, it won't hurt him at all in the state. He lives in a very Republican district.

Did he SAY the woman you know isnt a hard work beast or did he say that according to the BofL&S statistics, STATISTICALLY, men work longer pay periods, more overtime hours, etc?

Kind of makes me wonder...

Would people actually find what he said sexist/insensitive/offensive etc.. if they had not already been told by <insert partisan source> that this was the "proper" way to perceive his comment? After reading what he actually said, in the context that he said it, seems pretty harmless to me.

Just sayin...

He said what he said and that's enough for me and a lot of other people not to like him.

I was never arguing about boycotts of business, the thread is about LEGISLATION against rate of pay discrimination based on gender.

If you are confused about what I am arguing for, perhaps you should read better before you toss your support behind someone or something.

PS.....if you are against legislation like this, you don't need evidence that the discrimination is occurring. You have already put yourself in the absolute opposition to remedial legislation.

To be consistent, you would also be in opposition to all civil rights legislation.

Its even more comical that even though 1 came dangerously close to admitting the mockrage was ginned up over a false quote, they still maintain the charade.

Just a page ago, you complained:

When you cling to statistical anomalies and compilations to prove your point...you fail. Miserably.

Do you see that his statistics DO NOT apply, since they do not show explicitly the rate of pay?

What he said is to support his opposition to equal pay for equal work.

Is your opinion that women should not be paid equally for equal work?

What do you mean by equal pay for equal work and how does that work in the porn sector where women routinely receive superior pay for "equal" work.

From one perspective and in that alternative, Only the public sector can be wrong about private sector, market based metrics.
