There are fanatics on the extreme right who become thrilled with bloodlust at the thought of an eventual Right Wing Day of Jubilee where they can go to war against satans minions - aka - the US government - and spill the blood of their fellow Americans over disputes on public policy issues. In a better world they would be safely chained away where they can do no harm. Instead, they troll internet sites and stir the pot hoping it will boil over as they have no chance in a true people system of elections and voting and they see violence and anarchy as their only chance.

If you are going to immediately jump to the absurd in my statement, it means you have a weak argument. there is a reason judgment and reasonableness is expected and exercised as legal controls. legalities are very rarely rote roles that apply under all circumstances. this is why we have judges and other institutions for working on these things.

I think it was highly unreasonable and this is the point of my initial wish that things had not escalated to this point, but what's the alternative, give him the ability to ignore laws because he has some threshold of firepower? That is a horrible precedent to set for any legal case. If I get a bunch of friends together to defend me, can I go commit any crime I wish?

Its nice to know that with illegal immigrants pouring over the border, violent crime, murders, unemployment, poverty, healthcare, stagnant inaction in Afghanistan, a lost ant-terror effort in Pakistan, a complete and total embarrassment in Syria, an unstable middle east, absolutely no coherence in an Israel/Palestine strategy, and the US tugging on Russia's jock about Ukraine, that the fed is full on engaged about cattle grazing on public lands in Nevada.

One would think reasoned intelligent diplomatic types from say the Fed and the State could sit down, negotiate a reasonable solution that results in a win all around. Personally...I dont think Bundy has the right to just do whatever he wants and I understand there should be some legal repercussions. Threatening to fill coffins...that was a ****ing stupid comment made by a law enforcement official and was guaranteed to set things off.

The more I read about this, the more I think Bundy planned this out for his 15 minutes of fame. BLM probably realized it needed a differnt plan of attack, and I am sure has one by now.

one. govt. web site info changes from time to time
two. your linked article had a quote that the BLM wanted Bundy's land. Well the public land is not Bundy's. So the article on that point is misleading. it also seems to skip the fact that Bundy is not paying grazing fees (for how many years? more than 1 less than 50. :mrgreen:)

Not so much right wing. I would tend to look more at the the religion influence.

But yes, there are right wing extremists, as well as left wing extremists.
