Official: 3 dead after shooting at Kansas City-area Jewish center

(CNN) -- Three people were dead Sunday after a shooting at the Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City in Overland Park, Kansas, an official said.Shootings occurred at two locations, and one person is in custody, said Jason Rhodes, a spokesman for the Overland Park Fire Department.
A building at the center is on lockdown, and police are at the scene, the center said in a Facebook post.
CNN affiliate KSHB reported that there were two separate shootings at Jewish centers in the area -- one at the community center and one at an assisted living facility.

So disturbing. And so wrong on so many levels. This is basically my hometown and i know exactly where this place is. God, I hate fascist neo-nazis. Thoughts and prayers go to the people affected.

Since that man obviously idolizes Hitler hopefully he follows his path and commits suicide so that tax payers will not have to waste a dime on his trial and incarceration.
 
I dont even know how widespread antisemitism is in the US, I only know the numbers for European countries, where Hungary is the most repulsive of all.

Does someone know any numbers and facts?

One suspect is in custody. He reportedly shouted “Heil Hitler” at reporters as he was arrested.

Seems unlikely in Kanas, I'm also guessing Dem Socalist is probably more knowledgeable about the social tensions/demographics of the region.

It would be interesting to see if this man is part of a larger conspiracy. My gut tells me that he probably is not, and is just a lone looney who spouts off a certain ideology and goes out and kills.

We'll have to wait and see what the facts are. Although I'm sure before that happens there will be some who will blame this on everyone from the NRA, Christianity, Rush Limbaugh and the Republican party.

The only proper punishment is a barbed wire enema.

Police took one man into custody at the Valley Park Elementary at 123rd and Nall. The man was heard yelling "heil Hitler" as he was taken into custody. However, investigators say it is too early to label the incident as a hate crime.

One of the rare times I am in agreement with you. I think that would be more appropriate and spoil his chance now to get in front of tv cameras and do his Nazi salute.

Well given the fact it is the night before Passover and the guy reportedly shouted Heil Hitler from the back of the police, seems like a pretty safe bet.

Pretty rare in that region. Wouldnt expect anything like this to happen in that area. Pretty much middle class to upper middle class area. A good amount of Jews do live in the area. Not a whole lot of tensions produced in this area of Kansas. Completly out of the blue.

I didn't realize that spending "enough time" in the US makes one an expert on Islamic anti-jewish attacks. :roll:

I mean our own dept of homeland security, FBI, etc have a tough enough time with that, but hey-you "spent enough time in the US" to be an expert so thats cool.

Not that I want to divert the thread further but when a lunatic used Islam in his shooting rampage people wouldn't accept that he was a lunatic spouting a certain ideology, why would it be okay here

Not many I'm sure but given the area of the country and the relatively small Muslim population my first thought wasn't "oh this is an Islamic attack". Of course we all know why you/ US conservative would try and push the thread in that direction and continue to do so even though the evidence says otherwise.
