BREAKING: Sebelius said to resign as health secretary..

DRUDGE REPORT 2014®

Breaking headline. Let's see if it pans out.

Yep, she is.
WASHINGTON — Kathleen Sebelius, the health and human services secretary, is resigning, ending a stormy five-year tenure marred by the disastrous rollout of President Obama’s signature legislative achievement, the Affordable Care Act.

Mr. Obama accepted Ms. Sebelius’s resignation this week, and on Friday morning he will nominate Sylvia Mathews Burwell, the director of the Office of Management and Budget, to replace her, officials said.

The departure comes as the Obama administration tries to move beyond its early stumbles in carrying out the law, persuade a still-skeptical public of its lasting benefits, and help Democratic incumbents, who face blistering attack ads after supporting the legislation, survive the midterm elections this fall.

Officials said Ms. Sebelius, 65, made the decision to resign and was not forced out. But the frustration at the White House over her performance had become increasingly clear, as administration aides worried that the crippling problems at HealthCare.gov, the website set up to enroll Americans in insurance exchanges, would result in lasting damage to the president’s legacy.

This is good news.....do you think they have figured out the part about the damage to his legacy already?

as administration aides worried that the crippling problems at HealthCare.gov, the website set up to enroll Americans in insurance exchanges, would result in lasting damage to the president’s legacy.....snip~

Yeah there it is from his own aides.....its not so much that matters its suppose to be about of and for the people. Just what matters to this guys legacy.

Isn't that what aides are supposed to do? And every President cares about his legacy. The way I figure it is she hit the 7 million mark and was ready to be out of the frying pan.

Yeah Aides are suppose to serve.....just like a president. The way I figure it.....she knows he has to take the hit. That people are calling for her head. That if he don't fire her, and the longer it goes and the more problems that come along. It sinks him faster with his failing program. That he won't be able to keep on moving forward and turn it around if he doesn't take responsibility and fire her. So the next best thing so as to not continue to make him look bad.....is to tender her resignation and fall on the sword for him.

Isn't it kind of her fault? You can blame Obama for appointing her, but not for the website issues. That's why he hired her, to handle the nuts and bolts of the thing. So she isn't falling on the sword for him, she is resigning because she did a poor job.

If we're taking the aides point of view.

According to senior Obama administration officials, Sebelius told the president in early March that she thought the enrollment period would end well and, after that, she would step down. Even granted the initial uproar over the website, her decision to resign was on her own accord, the officials said.

Burwell's nomination is set to be announced at 11 a.m. Friday, according to a White House official.

From what I've read, Michelle made the decision on who was going to be hired to do the website, and she picked a friend of hers. Bad decision as it turned out, but that's the way it goes. I wonder if that's one of the reasons they're currently having the marital arguments that have been in the news? Her decision did make him look bad!

I have no great love for Sebelius, but in fairness, it might be that Sebelius was doing the best job she could under very difficult circumstances. I don't blame her for thinking that now might be the opportune time to get out, since we haven't seen what's yet to come, but she surely knows!

Greetings, Chaddelamancha. :2wave:

Heard she is going to be CEO at a Silicon Valley internet firm. 7 million is a lot of customers!

Sometimes ya gotta cut the strings...

Yeah Bob. :2wave: I had seen, also Townhall an what they have. It is also all over talk radio with the conservatives, and we aren't talkin Rush Limbaugh.

Even Attorneys General?
They can't be thought of as aides but the one we have now sure does act like one.

It is her fault with a lot of it.....but its also his for letting her stick around after the first mess ups and then her being pulled in front of Congress. So yeah it is also her dropping onto the sword. As she knows.....she will be called back for more investigation. Although now she doesn't have to incriminate herself. Especially with what she knew people had told her before things got to this point.

Sebelius Resigns After Troubles Over Health Site

Opinion: At least someone in this current administration feels it's necessary to be accountable, which is a rare and good thing, however the damage was done. I'm just a little surprised Obama accepted the resignation.

I think many are saying "what took so darn long?".

Just another minion falling on the sword for the Pied Piper.

Re: Sebelius Resigns After Troubles Over Health Site

Kathleen Gilligan-daughter of former Ohio Governor John Gilligan-has always been seen as an intellectual lightweight back here in her home town. I am surprised she lasted this long-she didn't exactly have the wattage needed to force feed such a radical bit of statist BS to the nation.

Accountability to their careers.

But is it anymore than an extension of the blame game? Kind of like firing the coach and telling fans "see, we fixed it, just keep shelling out for tickets."

So NOW, after five months of lies and snow jobs before congress, contention the probing was playing politics, NOW she's the problem?

Buy that and I will sell you some cheap oceanfront property in Arizona....

Re: Sebelius Resigns After Troubles Over Health Site

It must be politically advantageous for Obama to do so at this time. Why not earlier? Her failure was clearly demonstrated for all to see. It must be political advantage because political advantage is all the man's about.

Just another minion falling on the sword for the Pied Piper.

Yeah, I'm thinking the administration knows some really bad results from ObamaCare, aren't sharing it (yet or if at all), dismissing Sebelius, so her replacement can blame it all on her.

Re: Sebelius Resigns After Troubles Over Health Site

This is kind of like any Dallas Cowboys coach "quitting" after yet another disastrous season. They weren't the whole problem; making them go away won't solve the problem. And the actual leadership won't solve the problem by bringing in somebody new...because the actual problem is the fact that everybody in the organization is systemically out of touch.

Re: Sebelius Resigns After Troubles Over Health Site

She needs the time off so she can focus on how to stay out of prison.

Re: Sebelius Resigns After Troubles Over Health Site

She's resigning now? Just like this band of morons, doing everything ass backwards. These people are horrible.
