Mass stabbing at US school.

Via FNC: 24 wounded, 4 in criticle condition.

At least there was no armed security at the school. That would be evil and would take money from salary raises for the school administrators.

Children's lives don't mean anything to school administrations. Their lives aren't worth $1 to protect. They are just a bothersome overpopulation herd to most of them.

Uh oh! Mass Stabbings! Better make reasonable laws on restricting kid's access to knives! I'd suggest requiring safes with biometric locks for all knives larger than 2 inches. Also they should ban all felons (violent or not) from owning any knives.

Clearly it's the knife's fault and stricter regulations on long pointy objects is needed in the legislature. Now that I have that sarcasm off my chest, such occurrences identify an underlying mental health issue... America's lack of mental health structure simply treating people with pharmaceuticals and sending them home is not working. Mentally stable children from supportive homes do not go around stabbing or shooting others. The implement used is irrelevant - if it wasn't a gun it's a knife (as in this case) and if a knife wasn't available it would be something else like a hammer or a pipe or even a pen or sharp stick like a pencil. Time to shift the discussion away from inanimate objects and get to the source of the problem.

Well that didn't take long...:doh

I fully understand all the sarcasm above but can't we wait just a bit before this turns into the inevitable slugfest over guns?

BBC News - Up to 20 people stabbed at Pennsylvania high school

Sounds like something you would see on that TV show the following. No confirmed deaths as of yet and lets hope it stays that way.

I hope so,too.

I also hope that,if anything, the discussion of it on this thread can focus on the real issue -- that of the consequences when we do not deal properly with mental illness-- rather than being seized upon as an opportunity for zealots to push their narrow political agenda.

it's inevitable, might as well get it started from the git go.

Very sad and unfortunate event for the victims and their terrified parents and loved ones.

What about the media? I was half joking in my OP about the TV Show the Following but in reality its a very violent show in which there are lots of mass stabbings. Do you think Western governments should regulate media more or is it the responsibility of the parents to make sure their kids are not watching these type of shows.

What?! I personally am just expressing the same type of concern for our children's safety that anti-gun folks exhibit in times of such horrid occurances.

No, you were not, and now you are simply being dishonest about it.

You were only indulging in a cynical display of political opportunism aimed at pushing an extreme agenda.

I want to get my punches in early; I might not get another chance before this thread is 50 pages long.

The "issue" is why are the children when in government custody not safeguarded?

I waited just as long as the anti-gun advocates did.

This is an utter and complete lie,and anybody who views it can see that nobody before you posted had launched into any sort of similar behavior aimed at promoting gun control.

I'd agree with that and I suspect Kal would agree with you as well since that is exactly what happens any time there is news of a shooting and that's what Kal was kind of imitating.

Gun control at work! See no gun just a knife! Imagine if there were armed teachers there.... 20 less stabbing victims
