A Republican hoping to become the Beaver State’s next governor likened same-sex marriage to murder during an interview published Tuesday by The Oregonian.
Lorraine Mae Rafferty, one of six gubernatorial candidates in Oregon’s Republican primary, dubbed herself the most conservative hopeful in the race. When asked about some of the issues potentially facing voters, such as same-sex marriage, the 52-year-old business owner laid out her position.
“I would have to say, I definitely believe that that is wrong,” she said during the four-minute videotaped interview. “I believe it’s a sin, just the same as murder’s a sin.”
Rafferty also said she considered abortion to be murder and expressed her desire to teach Oregonians that “a baby in the womb is a human being.”

I wonder if this loon is related to Bachmann?

Isn`t Oregon that kind of state which I belive you people call "blue state"?

Yeppers. But that whole blue/red state thing is a busted meme the left likes to trot out anyway. Generally the folks who are rural are highly independent and the city folks, with the exception of those who do the work, are dems.

Yes. But that designation is driven by the combined liberal populations of Portland and Eugene. The rest of Oregon is uber conservative.

That's some funny **** there.

Yes, homosexuality is a sin. Murder is a sin. Not honoring your parents is a sin. There are lots of sins and there are people that subscribe to the idea that there are levels of sins and there are those that subscribe to the philosophy that a sin is a sin and that there is no difference. Both are correct to a degree. She did not make an inaccurate statement.

The biblical accuracy of her statement isn't the issue.

How is "I believe it is sin" an argument worth any merit? No one cares about what you believe, least of all your bigoted views which have no rational explanation.

Would hardly call this individual a hopeful. I'm sure people will vote for her because hate begets hate but in Oregon she's not going to get much support.

Well, you'll have to forgive my ignorance. I was going by the title of the thread and the article to define the topic. I guess I should have assumed the usual liberal hate tactic of "every Christian's views are invalid."

wow talk about distorting what someone says. she didn't compare being gay or gay marriage to murder. she said both were a sin and according to the bible she would be correct.
she isn't going to win in oregon let alone win the primary.

It's MSNBC, to those idiots and morons it means the same thing you see.

Yea i know emotional outrage rather than logical analysis is so much better.
what i find funny is that people are calling her a bigot without realizing that being intolerant of her religious views is just as bigoted.

ol the irony.

Love and tolerance!!11!!!

Unless of course you disagree with me, then you're a bigot and an evil bad person and you should be hated, scorned and discriminated against over your views and voting pattern. But yeah, stop being a hate-filled bigot and give in to the love and tolerance.

what i find interesting is some of the most bigoted hate filled intolerant people i know of are the so called open-minded people.
of course what they really mean is unless you agree with my open-mindedness then you are an evil person.

I personally have more respect for the person that at least has some morale stance and up holds that stance regardless.

So you're ok with intolerance as long as it is "some moral stance". Let me guess the "moral stances" for which you support intolerance...

intolerance is intolerance. calling this women a bigot is intolerance. therefore you are the very thing that you say you are against. you are intolerant.
it is kinda like pointing a finger at someone. sure you have 1 pointing at them but 4 pointing back at you.

Is this like defining racism as noticing someone's race, so that everyone is supposedly a racist and ones own bigotry is excused? It sounds just like it.

No, that's just your usual Christian victimization card.

Why wont they tolerate my intolerance?

Is it weird living in a world where tolerating anything means you must tolerate everything?

Yawn. Right wing Christians seem to forget that not everyone lives their lives by a book of fairy tales. As public servants they should always be careful what comes out of their piehole. I for one don't lend any credence to the right wing whack job views. Way too extreme.

When it comes to rule of law you damned straight. Get you Bible out of my government.

I guess you find it easier to dismiss opposing views with name calling than backing up your own views with facts. To each his own.

Ok...so then we will make murder, theft, and lying legal?

FACT: The view that homosexuality is a sin comes from right wing extremists who also happen to be Christian as they wave their book of fairy tales at others. Not wanting that bull**** in my government is consistent with the separation of church and state. So you will have to forgive me if I am less than kind about it. If it was up to you hardcore righties we would all be in church during the week and six times on Sunday. Thank you no.

Riiigggghhhtttt... in a thread that starts by calling a Christian who repeats her beliefs in public a derogatory name, I am playing a victimization card for pointing it out? Whatever.
