Here's a pic so everyone knows what we're talking about. The new CEO is also an electrical engineer, not bad. A hell of a way to begin one's time as CEO, maybe she's the right person though. We'll see.

Automaker recalls are usually slow, sometimes unusually and painfully slow. Toyota recently paid $1.2 Billion for a settlement after the Government became involved.

I don't absolve GM, but when the government came involved and then subsequently became a major shareholder and yet nothing happened, yes I can blame the umpire for a conflict of interest.

Automaker voluntary recalls can be slow, but not always. Government can also mandate a recall. Again, you haven't refuted my point about conflict of interest by Government.

And you have not proven there's a conflict of interest either. Just, well, an assumption.

An entity both has oversight over a company and owns a good chunk of the company and you still want to see evidence of a conflict of interest. If you don't deny that government has regulatory oversight and if you don't deny that government owned a good portion of GM, then I can't help you. If you don't agree with those two conditions, I can't you with that either.
 
This what happens when women are allowed to run companies! They just don't understand science, and electricity, and inter-molecular...uh....stuff.

First Kathleen Sebelius, then Lois Lerner and now this. Men have always had uneasy feelings regarding women and now we're beginning to see why.

A lot will depend on how honest she is with everyone. She will personally be forgiven because, as you say, she is new. But if she falls back on the 'I don't know' argument then she will not do well. I think the public is tired of this sort of 'testimony' that really says nothing. 'Were working to fix it so it doesn't happen again', and 'At this point, what difference does it make'.

The government itself is setting bad precedents for this sort of behavior.

Sometimes, people will die in crashes before eyebrows are raised, and our government and automakers sit up and take notice.

Somebody please explain to me how having a heavy key ring can lock up the steering wheel.

The key would have had to be turned back to the off position for the steering wheel to lock, or are these switched computer controlled?
