NW Side man is first concealed carry permit holder arrested in Chicago

Authenticity? I've lived in this town my whole life. I can convey properly how high strung and dickish the average resident is here.

Well, this leaves me wondering where. As diverse a city as Chicago is, making broad, general statements like you've done don't give me too much by way of reassurance.

Spend some time here. Walk the streets, ride the El. Go to Lincoln park zoo. You'll consistently observe people being ****ty to one another. At least once a week I witness a verbal altercation between people arguing over dumb crap.

I'd move out of this sewer if it weren't for my job. Hell I dunno, I'd like to live in Austin Texas or Hawaii or something.

Sometimes you just need to get out.

We have lived in the country on 110 acres for 20 years.

The county Sheriff has been a close friend for years.

We get claustrophobic when we are in town.

I feel for you.

I'll be honest. I'd contribute to the plane ticket. One way, of course.

I prefer to live with people who enjoy their lives here, like virtually everyone I know.

You would be a good reason to leave with that attitude.

I've lived in Chicago my entire life. Lived in Roseland, old Bum Town, lived in Lincoln Park, Halsted and Willow right across from King Crab, Steppenwolf Theatre sign shined through my living room window, lived in Lakeview, Seminary and George right down the street from R. Kelly's old house. Ashland and Nelson, right down from The Art of Pizza, was married at St. Alphonsus on Wellington, had my wedding pics taken on the bridge in Lincoln Park, lived in Lincoln Square, in Ravenswood Manor had Blago as a neighbor, in Budlong Woods... I've been around pal...

I've rode the Brown line, the Red line, the Blue line, the Green line, the Orange line, the Yellow line out to Skokie, the Purple to Evanston...been there done that, the #11 Lincoln bus, the 92 Foster, the 93 Dodge, the 147 Outer Drive Express, 77 Belmont, man, many, many times...

Jew town polishes off Roosevelt before Halsted and Maxwell where you'd get everything under the sun and name your price, The Green Mill in Uptown, ever Sunday you use to find me at the bar with a Manhattan listening to Patricia Barber, on Sat Sabretooth, or down on S Clark at Buddy Guy's..Mr Beef's on Orleans...Big City on Belmont fr after houtrs and a stop next door for packaged goods to swill as a nitecap after that from 1000 liquors or under the El to Clarks for some early morning chow...

I AM Chicago...

So you'll have to go a little further with your bona fides than naming a zoo...

Oh, are you looking for a pissing contest to see who's more "Chi-town" ? Besides mentioning that my mother was born on South Blackstone, owned a brownstone on seminary right behind the firehouse on Waveland at Cubs park. I was born at Illinois Masonic, the Greenmill was my home for ten years as was Carols pub for a bit. My first job was at Byron's original Vienna beef stand. This town is in my blood. I love it and I hate it.

If anything more guns will make people behave. Robert Heinlein said that an armed society is a polite society. As more people start packing and more people realize it then the more they will be civil towards each other.

Nah, not a pissing match, just some evidence other than a tourist destination...

Hot Doug's, Wolfy's, Weiner Circle, Super Dawg's, and before Hizzonor lost his rabid ass mind and closed it down Demon Dogs, yes, Byrons -- never been there..

This town is full of angry yahoo's will bill beat the **** out of someone over a parking space. Give those yahoos permission to carry guns in public and bad things will happen.

Yes they are quite high strung over there. I get some for customers and they are a different breed. A real pain in the ass to deal with. Don't trust anyone either.

Yeah, that's what happens when entire neighborhoods fill up with exports from Ohio...
Hey that's our line here in Indiana!

Funny thing is this happened in Edison Park, the safest neighborhood in Chicago...

You realize you're contradicting yourself right? When you categorize safe neighborhoods vs. not so safe you're backing up HenryChinaski's case that this town doesn't need more people with guns.

So the man lost his permit for brandishing a weapon?
The article says he was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon but didn't go into any details other than it was a dispute over rent money.

No. Not at all. Chicago has one of if not the most asinine gun laws in the country. To obtain a gun in Chicago you need your FOID, which is issued by the State and then you need to go do a basic NRA course (but the NRA is the ENEMY?!?!? why pay them?)and pay $100-140 for that before you then pay another hundo or so every 3 years to the city to obtain your CFP(Chicago Firearm Permit) You then have to register your guns @$15 per gun per year. All of this makes us safer? No. What does it do? Discourages law abiding citizens from protecting themselves.

Now, with this nitwit in question, of course you're going to have morons pulling stupid stunts. Happens everywhere, but liberal rag Sun Times wants to and is gonna make a spectacle each and every time something like this happens to manufacture consent. My God?!?!? Look those law abiding citizens, they're animals, oops, if your pulling this crap guess what? YOU AIN'T A LAW ABIDING CITIZEN.

The most ignorant self entitled SOBS I've ever had the misfortune to meet... Guess what Bucky? You ain't the NorthEast, got it? You're no effete elitists... You've got Cleveland for Chrissake!!!!

Like I said there's gonna be more CC tough guys arrested for pulling their guns over things that don't need guns pulled. People in this town are assholes by nature and giving them the go ahead to carry a gun in public is a bad idea.
Do you have any sort of evidence that the guy wouldn't have pulled the gun even if he didn't have CCP? If not then you have no argument.

The guy sounds like a real hothead. He pulls a gun over a rent payment? I'm a landlord too and I understand that it can frustrating when a tenant doesn't pay the rent. But you don't threaten them with violence. That's illegal whether there's a gun involved or not. You can threaten to evict them but you can't threaten to harm them.

Cleveland isn't in Indiana. Get a map. LOL

And Chicago doesn't have the market cornered by high strung people. From my exoerience it's common in past paced big cities.

Of course there are no other details, the renter probably knew he was a person that carried. Got into it with him and called the police crying that he was threatened with a gun.
Bam, instant felon.
My bet is you will start seeing a lot of this type of thing.

We heard the same horror stories here in Texas before CCLs were allowed. It turned out to be a false warning.
