A 54-year-old Northwest Side man who allegedly pulled a gun during a property dispute is the first concealed carry permit holder arrested in Chicago, police officials say.
I'd wager that this is a sign of things to come. There's going to be more arrests of more people who get pissed off over some petty thing and feel justified in pulling a pistol just because the have a CCP.

You link is screwed up, remove the extra "http://".

So the man lost his permit for brandishing a weapon? The article doesn't say he was threatened or had a legitimate reason to pull his weapon. If you do that, then I imagine you would lose your permit. So what's the point?

This town is full of angry yahoo's will bill beat the **** out of someone over a parking space. Give those yahoos permission to carry guns in public and bad things will happen.

Maybe if Chicago didn't have such rotten parking the town wouldn't be full of angry yahoos fighting over the spots. Just a thought.

Yes. Guns aren't the problem. Parking is the problem.

Brilliant.

You've obviously never been to Chicago. Here's a tip. Don't drive, and before responding, read the quote I responded too. Not too brilliant at all, but it does fall into a category you'd be intimately familiar with. I have many firearms here, and nobody's been shot. It's incomprehensible to you, I'm sure.

I'll bet you the parking is more of a problem in Chicago than CCW permits.

Since the law is new, It may take a while for people to understand the added level of responsibility
that comes with a CCW permit.
As to the people being violent over parking spaces, that does not happen much in Houston.
The guy, or gal in the other car is likely armed.

Like I said there's gonna be more CC tough guys arrested for pulling their guns over things that don't need guns pulled. People in this town are assholes by nature and giving them the go ahead to carry a gun in public is a bad idea.

That's like saying more people will become hungry, without proving any order of magnitude. If one more person does this, you'll be correct. That doesn't make it a problem.

It will be a problem. I've lived here my whole life, Chicago is not a town where Old Style drinking Jim Grabowski's should be carrying around guns.

So there should be a Grabowski exception?

I'm actually pretty impressed that the law was written the way it was . . . allowing immediate revocation pending disposition of his case. (I'd imagine it's pending disposition). As to it being a sign of things to come? Undoubtedly. But that should certainly not be taken as an indictment of the right to conceal carry.

The state police have revoked O’Connell’s permit based on a provision of the concealed carry law that says permit holders can’t be the subject of a “proceeding for an offense or action that could lead to disqualification to own or possess a firearm,” said Monique Bond, a spokeswoman for the agency.

So then youre implying that if you ban everyone from carrying guns, bad things WONT happen?

What I'm saying is that as hostile and prickish the inhabitants of Chicago are, going to fisticuffs over nothing in public places, that if you give the green light for these people to carry guns in public they're not going to merely fist fight.

That's the key: keep the guns out of the hands of the yahoos and let the rest of us have them.

Hmmm, near Park Ridge, I recall it as a pretty nice area, haven't been down that way in about 12 years.

Brandish a weapon in an argument? pfffft.

In 1965, my dad got into an argument with our landlord. The landlord claimed I'd started a fire in his garage, but I was upstairs in the flat with my mom & dad. The landlord and my dad had a fist fight, the cops were called, and the landlord went to the pokey.

We're going back in time, everyone has a gun now, be careful out there. Never argue, walk away.

You might want to worry more about your day to day violent offenders than your typical law abiding citizen. In case you missed it, your city is pretty ****ed up in general. Oh...but that would suck, wouldnt it...having to worry about real live problems and ****.

Your "typical law abiding citizen" here likes to fist fight in the middle of the Field Museum over who knows what while surrounded by children. your "typical law abiding citizen" has no qualms about pissing on the El after a bender at a Cubs game then whaling on passengers who have a problem with it. Throw some guns into this mix and nothing good will happen.
