Tomboy pressured to leave Christian school [W: 87]

The article clearly said she likes to wear boys clothes. The photo of her is wearing boys clothes.

If the school has standards about clothing, that counts. You may not like it, but it is up to the school to set whichever standards they believe are essential to their way of educating students.
I guess you didn't read this far:

After a television news report about the Thompsons created a social media frenzy, the school retained the legal arm of Liberty University to tell its side. Mat Staver, founder and chairman of Liberty Counsel, said there is more to the situation than the Thompsons are saying.

This is not at all about how she is dressing or she is going through a phase,” Staver said in a phone interview. But he said confidentiality laws prevented him from being more specific and school officials would rather not try to rebut the Thompsons’ allegations.

Pic does look like a little boy, I can see where a private school that does not welcome gender-identity issues might be a little bit disconcerted.

But anyway, it is a private school... they don't have to take anyone they don't want to.

So the schools can exclude blacks now?

So what does that mean? If nobody on either side is saying specifically what the real reasons are, it sounds to me like this is coming down to a civil lawsuit where the family is probably going to claim discrimination against their child for some other reason. Are you asking us to guess what that reason is?

So far all we can really go on is that the child and her parents seemed to be unwilling to alter the child's dress and appearance to follow standards set by the school. Look, I'm not saying that I like the rules the school has, but the parents don't have to send their kid there either. Nobody has a RIGHT to go to a private school.

Maybe choice was more appreciated sixty years ago. I personally don't enjoy oppressive legislation. I'd rather not be forced into your morality.

Than by all means feel free to leave the country, noone is forcing you to be here.

It is a private school and they can do what they want. More parents are taking their children out of public schools because of the left wing education taught there,

I see this as more an issue of morality than legality. These people wish to be seen as a compass...and do not even know north from south.

If this defines Christian ethics, it clearly sucks doggy d!ck.

The school's problem with her, is that she looks and acts a boy. Since this a private school they certainly have a right to reject her if they choose to. I explained in the OP that I'm not religious in any way, however it seems to me that rejecting her is un-Christian like.

I seem to recall there's a Fed law about that... but in any case, they can enforce gender-specific dress codes I'm fairly sure.

I don't believe anyone is questioning the school's right to reject her. I question why anyone would want to put their kids in a school that has those attitudes.

No argument there. I just have a problem with telling people what to do, say, think, or believe - whether they're absolutely right or dog-dumb.

So, you're not questioning the right of a private institution to have their own guidelines, just that they are allowed to have their own guidelines....Got it.

Nah. I'll stick around and fight you and other socialists.

Well hate to tell you but we won't return to the time blacks were able to be excluded in that way, despite you wanting it.

I would never exclude blacks, personally. I just don't have the audacity to force my beliefs upon others at gunpoint. Any other choices you want to strip from us? Smoking is bad. Wanna ban it? Guns kill people. Let's outlaw them all.

LOL yeah right, sure you don't want to exclude blacks. Right, tell us another lie.
