Thousands Sign White House Petition For Alaska To Secede And Rejoin Russia « CBS DC

WASHINGTON (CBS DC) – A new White Housepetition has been launched calling for the state of Alaska to secede from the U.S. and rejoin Russia.
The petition – called “Alaska Back to Russia” — has nearly 30,000 signatures after being created March 21 by S.V. of Anchorage.

The petitioner does not explain or provide any reason why Alaska should rejoin Russia, but just states: “Vote for secession of Alaska from the United States and joining Russia.”

Is it the same people behind the Crimea referendum?

What the heck?

Is this an Onion article CBS picked up as actual news or some ****?

Meh, as far as some of these White House petitions go, this is fairly tame. They get some real whackadoodle ideas.

My first thought too when I originally saw it posted over in another forum.

Yep...

I'm actually pretty shocked by the demand and stupidity.

I'm anxious to know why they believe Putin would "adopt" them??
I'm curious to know why some people here think Putin would be the guy whose leadership it would be good to live under.

The idea of Alaska seceding is not that far fetched but what is - is their demands that Russia absorb them.

I wonder if: "we also demand that Russia absorb the country of Alaska" is also on the petition.

Obviously.....

+1

I hope the petitioners aren't waiting for Russia to come to their aide.

The hell is that?

...

Well put the pictures together and you get something. It's supposed to be funny. Not ha-ha funny, but chuckle funny.

I was confused more by where you got that map than anything.

Off the internet.

Anyway, it's not " potential russian conquest map" or anything. If that would be the case, you'd have Crimea as part of Russia, heck, even all of Ukraine. But as you can see, not even all of Russia is in red. I think it is about temperature, where is it coldest and the cold winds, but there was red and there was alaska covered in red so it fit the gag.

Okay, that was actually pretty clever then.

They must have signed it probably because they think Obama is a weakling and they want a real man to be their president. LOL

If I was an Alaskan resident I would sign it just for the lulz. :2razz:

Putin would jump all over the chance to permanently post troops in North America.

Which is why I personally believe these 30,000 traitors need to be investigated, tried and shot...preferably right quick.

Thankfully the Russians haven't got enough people to adequately occupy even a third of that map. A nation with dwindling population and no real technology is doomed. It's only a matter of time. I suspect the US is just giving Putin rope right now, letting him continue over-extending himself.

That idea is just as nitty as starting a petition to murge with Russia.

It depends on your definition of treason.

Why isn't Michele Bachmann crying out for a congressional investigation on these nut jobs?

Signing a petition to secede isn't treason.
it's definitely worthy of investigation and, after that, perhaps a trial and execution.
