U.S., other powers may kick Russia out of G8 - CNN.com

The Hague, Netherlands (CNN) -- President Barack Obama and other world leaders will discuss ending Russia's role in the group of leading industrialized nations, a senior White House official said Monday.

The move to suspend Russia's membership in the G8 would be the latest direct response from major countries allied against its annexation of Crimea. Administration officials said there is no reason for Russia to remain in the group at this point.

"Our view is simply that if Russia is flagrantly violating international law and the order that the G7 has hoped to build since the end of the Cold War, there's no need to engage with Russia," Ben Rhodes, Obama's deputy national security adviser, told reporters in The Netherlands where the President attended a nuclear security summit.

Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said being kicked out of G8 would be no big deal.

I have two thoughts on this.

1) they won't do it because they don't have the stones, and...
2) Putin doesn't give a crap if they do.

Yes, but that is not what the article states as far as I can see. They are throwing the words suspend and kick out around like no tomorrow, and both have very different consequences to say the least.

Why aren't they discussing kicking the USA out for creating the coup in Kiev? Is it OK if the US interferes and not OK if somenone else interferes? It's obvious what the USA role is/was from Victoria Nuland's recorded conversation. Are we supposed to pretend this recording does not exist? Right, I'll get right on that.
 
Such would be a badge of honor, second only to getting kicked out of the UN.
