Fred Phelps Dead

To ourselves? Where did you get that? You have people who love you, as do I and most people. You are important to them. Not yourself. Them. They will grieve. Taking note of them is important.

To humans. The human species means nothing to anyone but humans.

Look at the blatant liberal media bias in this report on his death. There is no mention of his being a longtime Democratic politician and there is no mention of his being a crusading champion of civil rights who took on big government and big employers who were discriminating against blacks and finally there in no mention of his being honored for his civil rights work by the NAACP.

Nothing must get in the way of the leftist narrative. That's modern journalism. "Gay all the time. Everything has to be about gays. Gays trump blacks in the liberal universe."

Oooooo, another conspiracy theory.

Good luck with that.

Again, that makes little sense. I'm only taking about humans. And while your ourselves has two ways of being read, both don't address the point. As humans, we need to recognize the suffering of others if we are to remain human in the context beyond physical definition.

- "That big round thing up in the night sky, that's not a star that's the moon."

-"Seriously this could be the most childish line of thinking I have read on here."

Wicked. rebuttal dude. Saying that something is childish apparently makes it so. No need to make a case, just state the conclusion.

wow... I am hurt.......I would rebut but I don't pick on children

That's an extremely limited view of the world. There are a lot of things that can make the world a better place that don't involve peace in the middle east or improving the economy. Someone can decide to go work at a food kitchen or volunteer at a convalescent center and their actions make the world a better place. Today...a horrible and despicable human being left the earth and went to face God. His absence on this planet makes the world a better place. Sorry that you cannot see that.

He was just an idiot running his mouth. There are lots of those and I will not cheer whenever they die. It's sick, IMO.

Not true at all. Those who engage in heinous acts against children hold no value at all. In fact they have negative value.

Nope, human life is still human life and even the most despicable amongst us is still human. People die, sometimes by necessity, but it's still sad.

The huge irony in this discussion is that we have an audience on a discussion board which has developed a high sensitivity to sniffing out trolls and dismissing them as trolls and this audience has bought Phelps' trolling hook, line and sinker.

Phelps is history's greatest troll.

LOL! Somebody needs to create a meme: Don't Feed the Phelps

I'm not sure I agree with that. You're free to speak. That I'd defend. You're not free to torture grieving loved ones at a funeral. Screaming those things are those burying their loved one is torture, is cruel and is not something I would call free speech.

Sorry but you are wrong. "Torture" (as it would apply to a crime) is a very specific thing. My wife choosing to bring up what kind of curtains she is thinking about getting for the kitchen may be torture to my ears while I'm trying to watch the hockey game, but ain't no jury in the world gonna convict her for it.

He was a man that lived with purpose and conviction. In that sense I can respect him. He pushed the tolerable limits of free speech and I appreciate that because such liberties need men like him to keep them from going down the slippery slope.

Sorry, but I don't think the world is so lacking in people of conviction that we must necessarily be reduced to admiring those whose convictions are terrible. Nonetheless I do agree that he lived as a warning to those who started to walk his path.

So walking the path of being a civil rights attorney taking on the cause of blacks who've suffered discrimination is something that should be avoided. Gotcha.

Why did he do something so noble only to end up such a hateful man? Only he and his flock can know for sure, I suspect.

I made no claim about some asshole being human or not. Not even sure where the hell you came with that from, certainly wasnt anything that I said or implied. What I asserted was that people that are assholes to kids are of no value.

Being sad is a emotion which like any emotion is very subjective. You seem to think that I should bend to your subjective emotions. I dont care if you get all teary eyed when a pedophile is killed or beaten for raping and killing a kid, but dont try and force me to cry over such monsters because they are "human".

i see his civil rights efforts as being as self serving as those of al 'twanna brawley' sharpton and jesse 'hymietown' jackson
disbarred attorney who dared mar the funerals of veterans who gave their life in the service of our country
the ****ing bible toting bastard is lower than pond sucking scum

This individual is irrelevant and gained far more attention than he deserved. The only part of his death that brings me joy is the fact that I won't have to hear about him anymore from people who promote him by constantly talking about him.

There we go. Finally. The man is more than a caricature. You're the first in this thread to acknowledge this.
