Nasa-funded study: industrial civilisation headed for 'irreversible collapse'?[W:76]

Re: Nasa-funded study: industrial civilisation headed for 'irreversible collapse'?[W:

No, you offered an opinion where you were unable to offer something meaningful or relevant, not to mention intelligent.

Which is exactly what my opinion was in response to

You are still confused, but it is OK, that is the norm for those who feel a desperate need interject drivel into conversations where they lack the ability to contribute. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Nasa-funded study: industrial civilisation headed for 'irreversible collapse'?[W:

I did put up and you did not look you just are too childish to deasl with ignorance

And you did not read my post, as i clearly said i had looked and found support for my general premise, not refutation.

Hence my request for your sources.

You see, without them its just some anonymous person saying things.

You found no support only an opinion there is no difference

Re: Nasa-funded study: industrial civilisation headed for 'irreversible collapse'?[W:

I believe it may simply be a lack of equal pay for equal work, and that form of social dilemma.

Could you clarify there? I mean there are a lot of different modes, methods, and levels of 'work' in general....

Re: Nasa-funded study: industrial civilisation headed for 'irreversible collapse'?[W:

Just a 'few' items in this story to stir up discussion

Items to discuss

" high levels of economic stratification are linked directly to overconsumption of resources"

under conditions "closely reflecting the reality of the world today... we find that collapse is difficult to avoid."

how do we humans " reduce economic inequality" and also find a way " to dramatically reduce resource consumption "??

work by KPMG and the UK's Government Office for Science shows that resource exploitation could create a "perfect storm" of civilisational-ending crises by 2030.

There has been little doubt, that societies are fragile and that any society that irretrievably disapates the resources from which lives, collapses, when technological advances can no longer compensate the drain.

The social issues are certainly something that we probably can improve later. Momentarily we are performing rather well in that respect even if it feels differently in the wealthier countries, where the income on capital has outstripped that from labor in the latest decades. But that is a local problem. Globally huge numbers of once poor populations have attained middle class living standards. This has been achieved by a process of reallocation based on relative costs of production and has vastly increased human welfare. So, while it may make sense in the long run to find new ways to make society more egalitarian, it is something that has been happening all the while.

How do you explain crony forms of capitalism?

How do you explain crony forms of capitalism?

Corruption....Now, can you address my question?

Corruption....Now, can you address my question?

I subscribe to this line of reasoning:

A corporation is most often a type of legal entity, often formed to conduct business but public bodies, charities and clubs are often corporations as well. Corporations take many forms including: statutory corporations, corporations sole, joint-stock companies and cooperatives.

Any group of persons united or regarded as united in one body.[1][2]

....

Source: Corporation (disambiguation) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The state is a corporation and Body politic.

No, the state, is the state. They wield powers that corporations never could. Only in a situation where the state is granted sole control over the people without their consent could that be so. And that friend, is not a country I'd want to live in.

I meant it in this context:

Since when did Nasa become a bunch of anthropologists?

Do you consult an auto mechanic for what's the best way to grow tomatoes?

Ok, so what makes you think NASA (as an entire agency) knows a damn thing about anthropology?

Also, do you know that you can fit the entire population of the world (7.5 billion people) in a 2-story building 3/4ths the size of Texas?

You see, the truth is that you progressives just hate humanity, industry and economy and will make **** up or jump the gun on just about anything to scare people into living like communal chimps in a rain forest.

I think you and your ilk's position on issues like this is highly ironic considering its technology and industry (which you hate) that allows you to work yourselves up into a tizzy with your catastrophe scenarios, and which allows you to network and spread the bull****.

First - you obviously haven't read thru this thread. I've already posted that the headline is misleading. I don't know why NASA was named as funding this study because I haven't found any citation that it did.

Second - Yeah, on the Maine island where we have a summer home, I would ask the island mechanic "the best way to grow tomatoes" because he and his wife are gardeners who grow incredible tomatoes. So - not a relevant point.

Third - See first reply

Fourth - So what if the human population could be crammed together in such a space? How is that relevant to the study? Isn't your problem that all efforts to change the rate of increase in the earth's temperature just more proof of governments wanting to control our lives? So what would it take to cram the world's population into one building?

The truth is that most progressives care more for humanity than those who are pushing for reduction in welfare, destroying the food stamp program and promoting science denial in the schools they want to see controlled by for-profit corporations.

Who would have thunk, someone here knows an engineer or a physicist that happens to work for NASA with a green thumb.

IMO, I wouldn't grow tomatoes in Maine.

Re: Nasa-funded study: industrial civilisation headed for 'irreversible collapse'?[W:

That loose definition could apply to almost any group.

If it were in another section, it could be referring to an orgy or a gang-bang. Maybe he was actually referring to something from that section? /shrug.
