Newsweek reveals identity of the founder of Bitcoin?

Allegedly. Newsweek claims to have discovered the real world identity of the founder of bitcoin - known by his online handle Satoshi Nakamoto. His identity has become a bit of a popular mystery amidst the recent rise of bitcoin. Especially in light of the fact that he's believed to own hundreds of millions of dollars' worth of the currency. But this isn't the first time someone has claimed to know who Satoshi is.

The Face Behind Bitcoin

There are definitely some interesting parallels, but all in all I think the evidence is flimsy. Too much speculation. Newsweek is starting to face a growing backlash of criticism for revealing identifying information of an individual who - regardless of whether he is the founder of Bitcoin - clearly wants to be left alone. And if he is in fact the founder Newsweek could be putting his life in danger, considering the nature of bitcoin theft (if someone gets access to your wallet keys there's literally no recourse to get your money back or even prosecute the thief).

Since the release of the report Dorian has outright denied being the founder. And the real online Satoshi updated his P2P account a few hours ago for the first time in several years with the simple statement "I am not Dorian Nakamoto".

This is why ladies and gentlemen, Newsweek is nothing but a tabloid. Completely irresponsible and disgusting journalism if this fits the definition of the word "journalism"
