Just yesterday, another American RT show host, Abby Martin, Criticized the invasion On Air as she signed off; saying she had editorial independence.

A "Russia Today" anchor broke through the Iron Curtain.
Liz Wahl, who was a Washington, D.C. correspondent for the state-owned television station, quit live on-air Wednesday because she does not agree with the network’s backing of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s military intervention in Ukraine’s Crimea region.

The self-described “Filipina-Hungarian-American” said she faces several “ethical and moral challenges” as a reporter for the network.
Wahl described herself as the daughter of a veteran who grew up in the United States. Her partner, she said, is a military-base physician “where he sees every day first hand accounts of the ultimate prices people pay for this country.”

“And that is why personally, I cannot be part of a network funded by the Russian government that whitewashes the actions of Putin,” she said as she went off-script on live TV. “I’m proud to be an American and believe in disseminating the truth, and that is why, after this newscast, I’m resigning.”

During her minute-long statement, Wahl also mentioned the “international headlines” that Abby Martin, a host of the show, made Tuesday night when she said “Russian intervention in the Crimea is wrong.”

This is an example of the integrity that Russia Today anchors have, only the best anchors are hired by Russian television. I advise everyone to give Russia today a look and decide for themselves. You would never see a fox news or CNN anchor give up their paycheck for the truth.

Even though I agree with her sentiment, I must also applaud her integrity for putting her career on the line to stand for her principals. Honestly, I hope she stays safe since I would imagine there would be ramifications for speaking out like that.

She has felt this way for quite some time.
The final straw apparently was when they Cut out an interview segment she did with Ron Paul; and also Falsely portrayed the Ukrainian opposition as 'Neo-Nazis', etc.
She says they oft "Bash America" and have been whitewashing Putin's actions.

There was also Amber Lyons an Emmy award winning Journalist who quit CNN, because CNN would coverup for crimes committed by the Bahrain Government. I actually almost forgot about that.

Actually, it has something to do with the string. It shows how anchors from both Russia and America quit from major news networks because of questionable journalism practices. I approach things with more of an open mind than you, usually when anyone disagrees with you blood starts shooting out your ears right away.

Opposition is quietly destroyed in Putins Russia, the Russian media is mostly under Kremlin or Kremlin Allied Oligarch control.

This woman is a moron. RT has always been "after the US" and she chooses now to quit her job? What has she been blind for the period she has been employed there or what? Why not quit when RT accuses the US and GOP for war crimes and worse? Why not quit when RT runs expose after expose on how "bad the US" is on a subject?

While I dont like RT and its editorial stance, what she did is nothing but a self opportunistic bull****, and the American media is of course eating it up and she now has a guaranteed job at an American network for what she has done.. something that she could not get before that.

Now the irony here is that while RT might be pro-Russian (duh, it is funded by the Russian government), the American media are also not exactly free nor talking the truth on the subject of Ukraine. NBC Nightly News last night was just a travesty, and even CNN International is showing its utter bias these days... it is a shame.

Most Americans have no idea how bad their media is at reporting real news. Should I really give a **** about Kim Kardashian, or any other celebrity they push on their infotainment broadcasts. The Sunday morning "news" programs are nothing more than propaganda vehicles for the military contractors who pay for them by buying ad time.

At least on RT, you can get important stories about what's going on over here. I don't expect them to cover Russia objectively...but then again, Fox News, CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, have nothing of substance, and fill their airtime with phony Dem vs. Repub drama, without informing the audience that corporate sponsors effectively own all of the major candidates of both parties!

My first thought was that she's vying for a better job at a cable channel that's a step up, financially and viewership. Seems kind of drama queen-ish, so I had to ask, why would she decide to be drama queen-ish, and my thought was to get noticed, and she did. And let's see if/when she's offered a position at one of the more western media outlets that will appreciate her patriotism.

Dont get me wrong.. I in no way support what RT does or says, and any one who works for them can not be called journalists and the fact that she quit shows she might have a future... but the way she quit is for self serving purposes and not some heroic moment thing. In fact she said that she could not work for a news organisation that is funded by the Russian government... then why the hell did she take the job in the first place?

This is self promotion pure and simple.

As Glenn Greenwald noted yesterday, the only two U.S. news hosts who spoke out against the planned Iraq Invasion in 2003 were fired shortly thereafter. And that explains why very few reporters over here on MSM have any principles!

There was no drama involved similar to this, but isn't that what happened with their first female celebrity anchor - Alyona Minkowski? She seemed a lot more radical when she was on RT than she is now doing video pieces for Huffpo...but it likely pays better money.

I had only seen Alonya once or twice before she left. I've never seen her on HP as I don't go there, I don't watch RT anymore either. So I don't have a legitimate opinion on Alonya.

My opinion about Ms. Wahl's drama is based solely on watching the clip of her exit speech.

Huffingtonpost at first, seemed like the great breakthrough in online journalism...but that was before they started focusing on celebrity bs and sexploitation 'top 20' lists, like Daily Beast. They're just time wasters designed to get more clicks to sell to the advertisers. Speaking of which, before I deleted my tabs to Huffpo links, I found they were getting to be the absolute worst site for popups and other annoying ads. The straw that broke the camel's back for me, was when Arianna finally confirmed what a fraud she is by selling the site to AOL for 300 million, while refusing to pay bloggers for their contributions. Quite the business model....a news aggregator that collects free content online, begins with an army of unpaid bloggers...and then sell the operation for 300 mil and pocket most of the money for yourself!

I'm tuning in to RT more than usual over the last few days, because of the situation going on in the Ukraine. Of the foreign news channels I get on my satellite package, RT is the only one on basic, while the others (Foxnews, MSNBC, BBC, DW, and CNN now) are all on premium packages...so, I don't watch them. I take most my news...aside from local news, from online sources anyway.
