Record Support for Gay Marriage[W:162:334]

Re: Record Support for Gay Marriage

Whether men and woman are more alike that not...or not anything alike, has absoultly no bearing on marriage.

Oh, but it does. It matters perfectly to how the two parties approach the relationship, what they expect from it, and what they add to it. It also matters in how they raise children, and what they add to the development of children.

"Do you believe men and women are the same?" Under the law both men and women enjoy the same rights and priviledges.

Rights has to do with body sovereignty, so of course their rights would be the same. That has nothing to do with my argument.

....cough.....bull ****.....Emperical evidence proves otherwise.

I have seen the studies and I have seen who did them. I'm not convinced. Considering that the natures of the two are different both sexes should add something different to the raising of children. Nothing except that biased nonsense would lead me to another conclusion.

Most straight couples are shining examples of excellent parenting, right?

Once again....bull ****. Children don't care what sexual organs their parents have. They need parents who love them, are committed to them, patient with them and who can guide them. It doesn't take a penis or a vagina for any of that. It takes a parent.

I never said that. Anyone can be a bad parent and anyone can be a good one, but I do not buy into the argument that a gay couple adds to a child the same thing as a straight couple. It doesn't match at all with what we know of the sexes.

You're missing my point pretty badly. I never said a gay couple can't raise a child. Again, try to keep up.

Try keeping up with yourself....or perhaps you are attempting to spin so quickly that you can't. You clearly stated that sexual organs matter in the raising and development of a child. You are dead wrong. It doesn't take a penis or a vagina to raise a child. What it takes is someone who understands the needs of a child and is willing to put in the time and effort.

What can a woman do in the development of a child that a man cannot? What can a man do in the development of a child that a woman cannot? Be specific....not just more of your wishy-washy spin.

You say you've seen the studies that show otherwise, and that you don't agree with them. Okay, well maybe you should break down how and why those studies are wrong.

Absolutly nothing. How a couple "approaches their relationship", "what they expect from it", "what they add to it", and how or if they "raise children"...is their business. Not yours [or the state's] to stick your nose in.

Re: Record Support for Gay Marriage

You must not have much of a marriage then. Most married couples that I know, straight or gay are exactly the same. Sorry to hear that you don't have the same.

Just curious....in what ways does your marriage fail to live up to the standards of most marriages? I'm truly interested in knowing.

That wasn't even a decent effort.

I said nothing about sexual organs in my argument.

I said nothing about the state. You guys are loving those strawmen this afternoon.

Perhaps you need to espouse your views then.....what does a woman bring to a relationship or as a parent that is different than a man. Please be specific....and I mean OTHER than sexual organs.

Re: Record Support for Gay Marriage

LOL....I knew that you would be unable to answer the question.....true to form.

OK, I'll brag on my marriage for you.

I've been married to one woman for two decades with three kids, who are all National Honor Society students and select athletes, and we live and work as Christians and are involved in multiple charity organizations, including Special Olympics, St. Judes, and other local goodwill organizations.

THAT is what marriage is. Anything else is just pretend.

And how is that in any way different from a gay marriage? You r marriage sounds exactly the same as many straight and gay marriages that I know of. See.....when you open your eyes, you see that despite what you have been led to believe, your marriage is no different from a gay marriage.

Re: Record Support for Gay Marriage

If there was any doubt that this war is over:

Record Support for Gay Marriage; Half See it as a Constitutional Right - ABC News

Record numbers of Americans in a new ABC News/Washington Post poll support gay marriage, say adoption by gay couples should be legal and see gays and lesbians as good parents. Most oppose a right to refuse service to gays, including on religious grounds. And, by a closer margin, more also accept than reject gay marriage as a constitutional right.

The results continue a dramatic transformation of public attitudes on the issue, led by political, legislative and court-ordered developments alike. Seventeen states now allow gay marriage, and federal courts in four others – most recently Texas and Virginia – have rejected laws banning it.

We are reaching a serious low in this country when we don't know the difference between good and evil.

Oh BTW....I have been married for almost 25 years....have 3 kids, who are too young to be in the honor society yet....but we are working towards it....and are involved in multiple charity organizations including, Project Chicken Soup, Best Friends Animal Society and a few others from time to time.

I think you are pretending that your marriage is any different.

If you can't see the difference, I can't see it for you.

Then again, you're in California, and we can see how decrepit, derelict, and futile that world has become.

Again....we aren't talking about sexual organs. I'm sorry if you believe that marriage is solely about that.

Excellent for you. Have you noticed how almost extinct you are in your circles?

Re: Record Support for Gay Marriage

Not extinct at all....in fact, becoming more and more prevalent every day. That is what scares you guys so bad. America is no longer buying into the scare tactics that the bigots have used for years. Your worst fear is what is becoming a reality and that is America is realizing that gay marriages are the same in every way as straight ones and just as worthy of recognition......Boo!

Re: Record Support for Gay Marriage

Marriages not as often lasting a lifetime more than anything has to do with women being more independent and having the option to leave their husbands and go make their own way. They didn't have as much opportunity to do that in a much less connected and much more patriarchal society.
