Wouldn't it be divine to test that hypothesis? All the white liberals who flock to white liberal utopias can instead make a beeline to Detroit and Birmingham and simply by being present they can change the culture. Let the "racists" who live down South move to Portland and Vermont where they'll be happier.

It's just so damn odd that liberals who profess to love diversity seem to move to places where there is a lack of diversity and then they make a big show of lecturing people who live with diversity that they should be more tolerant of diversity.

Actions have more impact than words. Right?

I can't speak for the "liberals" to which you refer, but I doubt they avoid Detroit and Birmingham because there are black people there.

oh it happens every few months. When I pointed out that affirmative action allows LESS QUALIFIED black students to get into schools ahead of MORE QUALIFIED WHITE AND ASIAN students, one left-winger claimed I was saying ALL blacks are less qualified and thus I was racist

racism is an insult that has no sting anymore because so many left-wing morons throw it around as some sort of nuke designed to destroy any argument they cannot defeat.

You know not whereof you speak. I grew up in a place with a black majority population, I have lived and worked in the West Indies, and yes I have encountered black racists but often what the tourists might call racism was just simply not understanding local culture. I am as white as being only 1/8th Native American can make me, but, I think, I know, that racism is still way too prevalent in this country.

For those who deny that the noose incident had a racial basis, read the following from the University of Mississippi's newspaper
“They were eyeing me all funny when they saw me, and I immediately knew they were the two I saw when I was driving in,” McMillan said. “(They) were yelling ‘white power’ and ‘f— n—–s’ on my way back over towards the statue.”

When he rounded the corner of the George Street House, he froze. There was a rope tied like a noose around the James Meredith statue’s neck and a former Georgia state flag draped around the statue’s shoulders and back like a scarf.

“Seeing that sent chills down my back,” he said. “I’m a 64-year-old white man that grew up in rural, backwoods Mississippi. I’ve always been a little prejudiced at times, but this changed my life. I’ll never be the same person I was, and something came over me. It’s hard to talk about my feelings, but I feel like a completely different person. This was some messed-up ****.”

I have no clue if the "pranksters" were racist or not.

If they were racists acting out a racist fantasy, they should be expelled.

If they were not racists, but just too ignorant to know that a noose on the statue of the first black student in a state that historically has had huge problems with racism and associated violence - including hangings of people who were only guilty of the color of their skin was something that could be taken very badly.......well.....then they are too ignorant to attend college at this time.

Either way, whether they are racists or just garden variety ignorant jerks - they probably do not need to be at that institution until they get a grip.

The kids are in deep doo-doo now, though, because there apparently isn't any law against propping items against a statue if the statue isn't actually damaged. So the FBI has been called in to see if it can be charged as a hate crime. :roll:

Sorry, the worst these kids should have had was instant expulsion from the university. Was it a racist joke? Oh hell yes. Should they spend five years in the slammer for it? Of course not. This is one of those face-palm moments, when officials have perpetrators, but can't find any law they have broken, so they call in the feds to fabricate one. :doh

Man, how did I know this was gonna happen? One makes the slightest allegation of racism, and butthurt white people pour out of the woodwork. It's like barely touching a fire ant bed and watching the fire ants swarm anything and anyone within a five-foot radius.
