Pentegon set to release new cuts to Active Duty

So tell me when Obama said in the campaign "to fail to do anything about Sudan is a stain on our soul"... Then got into office, what has he done?

But I'm the hack right?

Why are you giving Bush a free pass? Sudan started under Bush.

He didn't bring it up I did. Rwanda under Clinton. Sudan under Bush. Yet you expect Obama to take the criticism for not doing anything in Sudan but give Bush a complete pass. You're such an obvious partisan hack.

Our military isn't about "carrying a big stick". You besmirch Teddy's name when you try to invoke that phrase. Our military is about protecting corporate interests first and protecting our public interests second.

Reminiscent of Smedley Bulter's book "War is a Racket".

Obama not only let Putin invade Georgia, he praised him for it.

I wouldn't feel to 'safe' if I were you.

No wonder conversations disintegrate so quickly. Russia sent armoured forces into Georgia following an attack by Georgian forces on a Russian-speaking region of Georgia, an area whose population wanted to be part of Russia. Oh yeah, one other item of note. This all happened when some other guy was President, not Obama by name.

I know, I retracted this statement.

Obama did however, conveniently overlook the Georgian episode before meeting with Medvedev at the G20 and in the START treaty discussions.

Why do you "need" to spend 3 times as much as China and Russia's total yearly expenditure anyway?

Partially because we protect our allies that don't spend so much. Besides. How much do the people making military equipment in China make vs. our union labor in Boeing et al?

Excellent idea, let's do away with unions and the minimum wage requirement so the US military can be used just like the Chinese military -- TO ****ING MAINTAIN ORDER AND CONTROL OVER A NEW AMERICAN PEASANTRY!! GREAT IDEA

Yes, I was shouting. Libertarian "thought" has to be the most brainless philosophy ever conceived by some who call themselves rational despite all evidence to the contrary.

In answer to the following, my emphasis in the quoted bits

Considering what the country gets from each of the two groups, pay and benefits for military and verterans should never be cut as long as a single dollar is spent on welfare.
I think before we again start talking about cutting the military, we should hold the governments feet to the fire over fixing entitlements....It's kind of like this whole immigration thing. Fix the border security first then talk about the rest....

Don't know if the protesters will believe the following source, but it's the best I can offer

Nearly 1 Million Vets Face Food Stamps Cut

About 900,000 veterans and 5,000 active duty troops face cuts in their food stamp benefits beginning Thursday as $5 billion is automatically trimmed from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) program for low-income families.

"The coming benefit cut will reduce SNAP benefits, which are already modest, for all households by 7 percent on average, or about $10 per person per month," according to an analysis by the Center for Budget and Policy Priorities. "Nationwide, in any given month, a total of 900,000 veterans nationwide lived in households that relied on SNAP to provide food for their families in 2011," according to an analysis of census data, the Center's report said.

The SNAP program received a boost under the 2009 Recovery Act, or stimulus bill aimed at lifting the nation out of recession, but that temporary increase will expire Thursday as Congress continues to debate a new farm bill which would separate farm subsidies from food stamp benefits.

Socialism, on the other hand, has proven to be just a marvelous way of bringing the benefits of modern society to the masses, umm. hmmm, you bet.

Your ODS is in full effect. "Yeah it was Bush' fault but Obama still should have done something".

Depends on what one labels as "Socialism". Most of the time, the nations used as examples for Socialism, have been dictatorships or authoritarian states with little to no benefit for the majority of their populations. They also always seem to have some tiny percentage of their people living and benefiting just like those once called the nobility in feudal states.

I've lived in several countries that have instituted some socialism, which does include the US, and found numerous benefits - despite the fact I have had an above average income in each of those countries.

Yeah, Obama asked for some 'space' and told the Russians he would have more 'flexibility' after the election.

Who says I am? Here's a hint. Bush is not the freaking president anymore. So why are you giving Obama a pass now when he is president?

Only in the mind of socialist can a temporary program ending be seen as a cut.

Socialism is government control and ownership of the means of production. It is an economic system that has failed repeatedly.

...such disqualifies labeling Obama a socialist.... You guys on the right really need to make up your mind and stick to it....

Interesting the cuts will bring us down to levels we had 'before' WWII. With a poontang like Obama in charge with his track record, the rest of the world will likely start displaying their aggressiveness.

I seriously doubt it.

I don't know who you're grouping me with, but I've never said Obama was a socialist.
