Former U.S. Congressman Reynolds Arrested in Zimbabwe

You have a very simplistic view of race. According to Wikipedia, here is the ethnic breakdown of Zimbabwe (2003):

Ethnic groups (2003):

82% Shona
14% Ndebele
2% other African
1% White
1% Coloured and Indian

Unless Reynolds is Shona, we certainly cannot rule out any possible racial motivation. I believe that Reynolds is African American but I'm not aware of his ancestry.

Few African-Americans are. Slaveholders didn't really keep track of that sort thing. You're talking about ethnicity, not race. Italians and Germans are different ethnicities, but the same race.

Police and immigration officials were investigating Reynolds for living in the southern African country without a valid visa, Francis Mabika, an assistant regional immigration officer, told Reuters.

Reuters was unable to reach Reynolds for comment. A spokeswoman for the US Embassy, Karen Kelley, told the Associated Press the embassy could not comment as it was a private matter and the embassy did not did not have a privacy waiver.The state-owned Herald newspaper said the former Illinois congressman had been arrested at a hotel in the capital Harare on Monday, where he had been found in possession of pornographic videos and pictures.

Reynolds, a former Rhodes scholar, was a fast-rising star in the US Democratic party when he was forced to resign in 1995 after being convicted of sexual assault, obstruction of justice and solicitation of child pornography.

A Harvard graduate, Reynolds had unseated US Representative Gus Savage in 1992, two years after a House ethics committee determined that during an official trip to Africa Savage had made improper sexual advances to a female Peace Corps volunteer.

But then Reynolds was convicted in his own sex case and sent to prison in 1995. Later, while still behind bars, he was convicted of fraud for concealing debts to obtain bank loans and diverting money intended for voter registration drives into his election campaign. In 2001, President Bill Clinton commuted the sentence for bank fraud and Reynolds served his remaining time in a halfway house.....snip~

Of course, this isn't entirely true either. The page wasn't underage. Age of consent in D.C. was 16; the page was 17. Studds was censured by Congress in 1983.
 
And for the record, yes, Reynolds is a scumbag. A scumbag who got run out of Washington on a rail 20 years ago and nobody's heard from since.

I say its probably underage sex tourism, because lets be real why would you need to go all the way to a country like Zimbabwe to shoot a porno and who the hell is going to want to watch porn with this guy in it? I imagine their laws can be easily circumvented in regards to age of consent, but fun fact as an American citizen you can be prosecuted for statutory rape regardless of whether you did it in the US or not. So let's hope someone smarter than me can prove it and throw the guy in jail where he belongs.
