Tom Perkins' big idea: The rich should get more votes

Yeah, if you think a program that is trillions of dollars in unfunded liabilities is a good thing... Me, I know that means it's broke.

"Unfunded liability" is a meaningless term that sounds scary, and is particularly useful for scaring people since you can use it to make up literally any number you choose.

It's also not even applicable to social security.

If prices get jacked up at corporations people will shop at small businesses instead. Removing the taxes on small businesses allows them to be more competitive with the prices they offer.
Same compelling argument. Why don't you just support pure socialism and have the government manage all the businesses? That way they could tweak the economy to death even faster.

Why not? Millions of Seniors will be drawing it (that makes it a financial liability) and there are no funds in the till to pay for it. All that money has to be borrowed, printed or taken in taxes. Sounds pretty unfunded to me.

As it stands right now, the rich are the only ones who get any votes at all, since they're the only ones who can afford to buy the candidates and pay for the legislation they want.

I'll be darned. So how did we end up with Obamacare and shutting down of the coal industry? Which rich guys paid for that?

Neither Obama nor Clinton were 'rich', and Obama has proved that anyone, really anyone, can become President.

Wow! That is wrong on so many levels!!

We could go back to only allowing property owners to vote. Would greatly kill city influence in elections.

Of course people would never go for it.

You can't even restrict voting to law abiding citizens without some people bitching up a storm about it.

You are simply wrong about that. Look up the Social Security actuaries and read their reports.

No it requires the ability to engage effectively in public speaking and a consuming desire to wield power and control. The ability to lie pleasantly is also a useful trait. Those things alone would disqualify me and many other people.

Also above average intelligence (so by definition half of the country and most of DP is disqualified), and above average managerial skills. And making people who are in power believe in you. The biggest thing.

I've heard so often that BHO is above average intelligence but so far there doesn't appear to be much evidence of that. If he had administrative or managerial skills then a lack general knowledge might be forgiven, but as it is he doesn't score well in any important area.

The LIVs accept this.

I have asked the question before should those who pay more income taxes get more votes seeing how they contribute more.

Tom Perkins' big idea: The rich should get more votes - Feb. 14, 2014
[h=2]Tom Perkins suggested Thursday that only taxpayers should have the right to vote -- and that wealthy Americans who pay more in taxes should get more votes.[/h]

In your link he stated he wanted to be outrageous and he was! The audience laughed. How desperate are folks like you to make an issue of this.

What the **** does this have to do with anything? What petty, petty nonsense you guys get mad over.

Yeah because it's garbage. There's nothing inherent about owning property that makes you more important to society than say, someone who chooses to rent.

Except they pay more in taxes.

Literally Jim Crow. Wow, they aren't even ****ing hiding it anymore.

I literally have an 11-year-old that is vastly more educated than a third of the voters in this country. And most of that third is on your side of the aisle.

It's like letting the blind pick out your outfits for the next four years.

His remark about Tocqueville was unremarkable, but complaining about calling him Alex is pretty petty. If Tocqueville was taken out of context or if we can get into a debate on how much Tocqueville liked or disliked American democracy (and why) is more worth mentioning. Bill Clinton and Newt Gingrich had a classic back and forth on the proper meaning and lessons of his work. This is just lazy bs.

However petty it might be it does demonstrate Obama's lack of scholarship on the most insightful book on America and Democracy ever published, It should be required reading in schools.

And while Leftists will claim pettiness in this instance (and deliberately overlook many other frequent Obama gaffes and ignorance) they did not afford the same attitude to any Republican politicians, as we have continually seen.

Did you find out if he ever got advance copies of his favorite TV shows?

Only in 50 of the 56 states.

LOL!!

Did you have the same attitude and response when Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachmann or George Bush was attacked? No, of course not.

The fact is that you have the MSM protecting this buffoon and exposing his comedy of errors and low information voters who will hysterically (like yourself) defend anything he says. Amusing to watch but very bad for the country.
