The possibility of this not being detected by the security services such as shin bet and Mossad is slim, it's just common sense.

Have you considered that there could be a plethora of instances where Israeli intelligence has caught weapons smugglers and stopped them in the act, and that these ones just slipped through?

Nothing slips through! No business inside Israel is doing business with Iran and Mossad missed it. Who would really suggest such a thing??

The production of fighter jet parts and distribution of them most likely would not have gone unnoticed IMHO.

It entirely depends on what parts you are talking about. Private suppliers routinely gain access to technical components or duel use components to circumvent sanctions regimens and export bans. They aren't usually dispatching engines and air frames. Considering the destination of these parts it seems highly unlikely that the government knew, it would be self-defeating.

You talk as if you've never even heard of smuggling before. Every country at all levels of government will have people who shouldn't be there, who try to make a profit out of selling things they shouldn't be selling to people who shouldn't be getting them. That says nothing about the government as a whole.

I suppose our government condones human trafficking because some humans are smuggled into the United States. I suppose the Chinese government tolerates North Korean refugees because some do eventually make it into the country. Pure nonsense! :lamo

The people who were involved in producing or distributing them could have been corrupt. This isn't the first time this sort of thing has ever happened, you know.

There have been multiple examples of illicit arms trading from Israel to Iran, with Israeli government involvement. This isn't the first one, nor will it be the last. But I'm sure you know that the blindly pro-Israeli crowd here goes to great lengths to protect their image.

In May, 1986, West German authorities foiled an $81 million ammunition deal and uncovered a tank deal in the process. Charged in the case were an Israeli and a former Israeli citizen. The West German weekly Stern said a telex from the state-owned Israeli Military Industries dated April 1 indicated official Israeli involvement.
